BioShock 2 |OT| of Big Sisters, Delta Daddies, and Creepy Uncles

After you leave siren's alley and end up in the
garden
there's a locked door. behind it is an audio diary and a
Rose
Does it serve any purpose? Just give me a yes or no as I'm not past the
garden
yet. Thanks!

Maybe I've just lost my touch, but I'm finding this one to be much harder than the first game. I mean, I haven't died yet, but my health goes to critical in pretty much every fight with 2+ gun-wielding splicers (or one Big Daddy/Sister). :|

I'm just past the third level and I have a small complaint. Sometimes there will be a flight of stairs or something to an off-the-path area that will probably contain a diary and some items, but the arrow is pointing the opposite direction. Sometimes it's not a secret area but in fact a later part of the level. Most of the doors seem to be open even if you're not at that point in the level progression yet.

The problem is, I don't know if I'm heading to an area that will naturally be explored later through the main objective or if I should explore further to avoid missing some hidden items/journals, so I actually waste a lot of time going halfway and then deciding that I'll probably come back here later with the main mission, but that doesn't happen, so either I miss what's back there or I spend the time backtracking later on after finishing other stuff.

Yup, I spent 20 minutes looking for a way into one section, only to end up in that area later on by following the path for the objective..........I like that though

Brilliant, the latest PC patch now makes all those intro movies unskipable, and multiplayer is completely fucked (everybody's teleporting everywhere, lag style).

Just in time for the weekend :D

Good thing I beat the game around 11 last night on Medium. :D

Waiting for an actual patch that makes the game stable/awesome-er.

I really like the music on the multiplayer menu(and I guess the main menu, it's weird how you seem to "exit" the multi to go into single player).

It is fairly ridiculous how quickly and easily you can take massive damage in this game even on normal difficulty. At least on the PC version.

You are one exceptionally fragile Big Daddy.

Seriously. It's like his suit is made out of loosely strung together brown paper bags. Though I guess the game is gracious enough to not kill you immediately when the health bar hits the low end.

This.

I only played about an hour and noticed this.

In the first BS, Big Daddy fights were a big deal. You had to plan out what weapons, what plasmids and what our backpedaling route would be to take one out.

But in this, common splicers with a wrench can fuck you up....and that makes even LESS sense.

Still enjoyed what I've played though.

Game just crashed and I lost two levels worth of save data. WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY???

Haha awesome, mine just froze while saving and deleted said save. Leaving me only with an auto save from when i started sirens alley. 3+ hours down the drain, sweet.

I'm still not really hot on the game itself, but Winter Blast 3 is an absolute joy to play with. They turned it into a giant ice laser that freezes anything in a block of ice on impact. :lol :lol :lol

Not to be a dick, but you didn't save for 3+ hours?

Just saying...

I don't do it consciously, but I think I happen to just to save every hour or so in every game, just out of some passive habit.

All right. Winners have been notified through private message. Thanks to everyone for playing.:D

I'll definitely be getting in some time for BioShock 2 tonight. Both multiplayer and singleplayer.

I'm loving Incinerate in this game. I never bothered with it in the first game, and I kind of regret that now. The damage is good, and it prevents the enemy from attacking me. I'm not even sure why I should bother with Electro Bolt when Incinerate does a fine job at preventing enemies from attacking me.

Oh and... if a little sister is attacked enough while she is harvesting what happens? I was fighting a huge group of splicers and then heard my sister cry "How could you daddy" or something like that. I then noticed a splicer attacking her. However, by that time the harvesting had ended. I picked her up, and got ADAM, however I think I got less than usual. Is that the punishment for letting her get attacked (less ADAM), or was I simply mistaken?

in stuck early in the game
where you get the little sister to get the adam from the 2nd corpse - the hacked turret got destroyed and there is not much ammo/etc around to manually defend from the splicers? thought the turrent would respawn?

also as some people have mentioned its crazy how easy you die as a big daddy...its like you are make from tin foil or something...?

Is this a joke? PC version got patched today that introduced intolerable lag and random game crashing. Add the frame lock in multiplayer + worse p2p multiplayer and this is ridiculous.

What? So you'd rather the game be a walk in the park than not being difficult? It's been ten years since the end of BioShock 1, so all the splicers have had time to get stronger and stronger.

The more she's attacked, the more adam she loses. She can't die, which is why these "escort" missions are far better than in most games, and one of the reasons why its fun.

Due to no backtracking, I've been spending a lot of time exploring for fear of missing any tonics/audio logs/pttp etc. Not sure if I like it...

By the way, the game gave me a warning when I was about to leave Ryan's amusement (did not get this msg for Pauper's Drop). Pretty sure I collected everything, anyone know if this warning msg is an indicator if there are remaining collectables in a level ?

I've been harvesting every Little Sister so far but I kinda wish there was a mini-game associated with that like there is with adopting them.

I wasn't bothered by the mandatory escort you have to do at the start of the game and sort of want to mix things up by doing a couple more of those, but I also don't want to miss out on some 100% Harvest ending (unless they allow you to save one or two of the girls and still get the "bad" ending, which I think was the case in Bioshock 1).

The warning is only displayed on the first level, as far as I can make out, to signify that you wont be able to go back to a level once you board the train on any level. It will still show it even if you do everything in Ryan Amusements.

I would rather have it restart to be honest. Now I can never recover that lost Adam. I guess I should have saved -_-

Oh well, I'll just have to choose what I buy very carefully.

Before placing the little sister down to gather the ADAM do you guys, who are having problems, set up traps and make sure you have enough ammo for the fight before hand?

On my first Hard/Good play through I didn't have a problem with any of the gathering situations, splicers rarely got up to the little sister and I don't think ever interrupted her. I would set down rivet traps and proximity mines the most with a couple of cyclone traps and usually had a couple of bots following me, if you don't have them purposefully set an alarm off and hack a couple before you start. I didn't even use decoy very much unless a big daddy strolled into the fray and got angry.

Also being the first Big Daddy
(and a unwilling captive who was turned into one at that)
I think that there are some inherent flaws with the design. I see myself as a buggy mess that they had to work the kinks out of.

I actually hadn't realized that. I assumed they had no health bar to give them a bit more humanity than just an object to protect, but that makes sense as well. And I agree, these are not escort missions. It's an attempt to get the player to take advantage of the full arsenal of weapons and the many defensive items/ammo that's available.... and it works very well. :D

Brilliant game. Very easy on Normal, though. Had to leave behind the majority of healthpacks and eve boosters i found. With the right tonics you becoming walking death with the drill.

I just had a patch download and install when I logged into the multiplayer. Is this new? Did it fix the widescreen?

I'm at the third level and I don't know what to do with the obscene amount of Adam I have and I'm saving all of them. :lol Throw some auto turrets down or something, break out the heavy artillery if you have to. If all else fails, turn them on each other with hypnotize, works well.

Speaking of which, do you guys recommend saving Adam and picking fewer, specific plasmids to upgrade, or just spread the wealth? It would make sense to upgrade only one of the shock/fire/freeze combo up and to leave a lot of the seemingly useless plasmids(bees?) alone, but if there's going to be a huge surplus regardless... might as well see them all?

In the pause menu, the symbol of a happy little sister, does that mean that there was 1 sister and I rescued her, or is that saying there is still 1 sister left to find?

anyone?

Not yet, but the FOV is very easy to change with a simple INI edit:

Find the Bioshock 2 User.ini file. Go to the [Default] section and find 2 unused binds. Do something like this:

Comma=SetFOV 90
Period=ResetFOV

all good things
dammit. I wanna play this but my game got delayed due to the weather and now it hasnt snowed for 2 days and UPS said it was out for delivery but now they changed it back to delayed due to weather.

WTF man, my street and driveway are snow free. I just beat Mass Effect 2 and now i wanna play bioshock 2.

my one little gripe with the game is that enemies keep spawning in areas, there is so many times when im really low on ammo and I take on a big daddy with 3 splicers who spawned on me.

Just got right to the end on the PS3 version, game decided to freeze and die so had no other choice than to restart the machine. When i reloaded it took me way way back, even further back than my last save!

To say im annoyed would be an understatement! Anybody else had a similar problem?

This might have some relevance if they didn't mostly use guns, which don't grow stronger over time. You die in a few shots, even faster than Jack did. Original big daddy, flawed design? Sure, but even the most flawed armor is going to be better than jeans and a shirt. It does make the game harder, but I can already see it evolving into an easy game like the first did, it's just that they try to make you feel like a big daddy and completely messed up a huge aspect of it, constantly takes me out of the experience.

Either way, I just beat
Siren's Alley
, was easily the highlight so far. Hope it can keep it up.

Awesome, no matter what I do, the helmet hud element is gone of its own accord, kinda sucks the atmosphere out and reduced my enthusiasm for playing tonight.

Splicers didn't use thompsons in the last game, and, again, it'd make the game way too easy. There's a fine line between logic that's presented in the game and the actual gameplay.

On a moment's notice, a room can flood and he's fine. Yet he can smoke cigarettes. That is one versatile suite. I guess the Delta model had some advantages over the later models . . . I don't see them smoking.
