Bioshock Infinite - Review Thread [UP: IGN exclusive split PC/Console review up]

So what does the review actually say?

"Having played BioShock Infinite on all three platforms, I've found that some of the combat system’s inherent versatility and wealth of options are restricted by the gamepad control scheme on the console versions. Oddly, only two weapons and two vigors can be hotkeyed at any given time (via a quick tap of the Xbox’s shoulder buttons or the PS3’s triggers). The rest of your arsenal is accessible, of course, but you must pause and go into a menu in order to get to them. That can break up the fun flow of an otherwise high-octane encounter, and picking the right tool for the job during the fight was something I found myself avoiding. As you might expect, though, these are non-issues on the PC, where the number keys offer instant access to vigors and the mouse scroll wheel zips through your full list of guns."

i had a laugh at this section... just cause i'm used to weapon wheels, and i loved bio 1s weapon wheel, so this is hardly a flaw to me as a console player.

9.4 console and 9.5 PC??

So the console versions are a broken mess, but the PC version is actually a somewhat playable game?

All difficulty sliders should just namedrop better eras or games. MW4 on Veteran Mode? Fuck that, try "Rainbow Six 3" mode.

Splinter Cell: Blacklist should call their hard mode "Chaos Theory" just to troll the fans.

Have IGN not played far cry 3?:D

Far cry managed to fuck the very thing he just explained up on pc.
You could only hotkey 4 weapons and 2 syringes.

So what makes the PC version 0.1 point better than the console versions?

If you pick the pc master race over say a troll warrior then you get a natural 20 on your metacritic rolls.

If my PC is about equivalent to PS3/360 and I play with 360 pad, is Bioshock Infinite 9.4 or 9.5?

(not that I would play with 360 pad)

"Even when it does occasionally miss, another hit follows so quickly that the stumble almost feels like a setup to increase the effect."

Loved that line, haha

"BioShock's about as sound a starting point to build upon as a game could hope for, and Infinite has made the most of that. I'd put the artwork, meticulously crafted detail, and overall atmosphere of Columbia right up there with BioShock's Rapture, Half-Life 2's City 17, and Mirror’s Edge’s unnamed dystopian metropolis. Two things evolve Infinite past its predecessor, however, and the first is one of its central characters: Elizabeth."

Sounds believable and bodes well.

IGN said:
She [Elizabeth] provides motivation and moves the story forward, and like the clear bond the Big Daddies and Little Sisters had in the first game, I was compelled to protect her.

Game of the decade.

Crystal Dynamics must be sobbing uncontrollably.

Dear Lord. What the heck is wrong with the game that IGN knocked off 0.5 from a perfect 10? Must be some serious glitches going on in there.

So what does the review actually say?

Even when it does occasionally miss, another hit follows so quickly that the stumble almost feels like a setup to increase the effect. Infinite comes through as a true, worthy follow-up to BioShock, one of the most-renowned shooters of this generation. In my book, it becomes one itself.

Mostly gibberish so far.

Are you kidding me?!? BWWWAA HAHAHA HAHAHAH!

.1 better on pc? Must be a huge difference if they bothered to rate them differently, considering the critically acclaimed games such as Mass Effect 3 and Skyrim got the same scores across all platforms.
