Black Desert Online |OT| Come on in, the sand's fine [Mediah Update]

Is there a way to see all of the free camera controls?

Best I've managed to find is a way to pan it left\right, and up\down. No way to move it forward\backward?

Hold shift + arrow keys for tilt and zoom in/out POV

Hold ctrl + arrow keys for DOF

You can mouse wheel scroll in and out also.

Q will kneel or sit if you are right on the edge of something and then q again to cross your arms.

Inventory management in this game drives me nuts. It's really irritating the game can't do a 1:1 swap with items turned in getting replaced by items being rewarded. Hell, the game won't even let me sell an item to a trader with a full inventory. Why? All I get back is silver.

So... When I picked a skill every time I level... Have i been locking myself out of other skills in the future?

Black Desert technically has no cap on the amount of skill points you can get, but there's a soft cap of around 500 (someone correct me if I'm wrong?) or so due to the nature of the soft cap on leveling. So yes, make sure you plan your skills out somewhat accordingly. Watch the videos they give you when you're on the skill menu.

This is just the best game. And the population, Jesus. Playing on Edan, and almost ever channel is overrun constantly. Running through a city is something else.

Speaking of Edan, if anyone rolled on Edan instead of Orwen I have a guild if you want an invite.

Nothing like going into Heidel and realizing that all of the horses, carts, and people you see are all players going their own way. Or better yet: Seeing those players on the side of the road.

And then factor in there's probably double or triple that amount fishing along the shore just out of rendering range for models. It's absolutely nuts.

Not having instant travel, and having several systems in play to make up for it, was one of the smartest things this game ever did. This world is so full of life with players out and about. You go to the shores, there are people fishing. You go to the cities, carts and horses everywhere. You go to fields, people are chopping wood, smashing rocks, gathering items, traveling on the road, fighting off bandits, etc. It's incredible.

Creating a living, breathing world and sense of community is what made MMO's great in the beginning and it's nice to see BDO get back to that. I could goof around in this game all day.

I'm really liking the game but I just can't get into any of the characters. I really want to try out that blader class. I know the game just released but anyone know a timetable for the release of new classes?

Yeah I'm not gonna stop playing ffxiv for the story alone, but bdo and its sheer nature cement it as my side game. Always wanted to play an mmo of this style, and thought I'd missed out. Also soundtrack is actually nice / not generic. Dat jazzy music at the farm.

Okay cool. I also heard it gets reset at level 45 one time.

Uh, so how long does it take for my horse to connect to my wagon? It just says: "Connecting" in the stable menu.

Here's my character chilling after a rainstorm at night in Velia. I love the fact that puddles build up and then stick around after the rain!

Game looks real pretty. Works great with a Steam Controller too!

I kept telling myself I would "wait and see" after having been burned by so many Korean MMO's come west... but I have 0 willpower and I bit the bullet. After looking at the available classes I really don't see anything that screams "play me" just yet. I am currently thinking either Warrior or Sorceress.. any Warriors or Sorceress that want to chime in with a vote feel free to tell me why.

I had not considered tamer.. hmm.

That is an interesting suggestion! I am honestly leaning a little bit more towards the sorcerer than the war.. I like battle mages. Maybe I should watch a few tamer vids on youtube then.

How do I sell fish? I was AFK fishing all afternoon, got a nice haul, but can't sell them on the marketplace or to NPCs.

You sell fish to the trader. Fish sell for different prices in different areas as well. A fish you caught ou on the coast will go for more inland because it isn't as common and vice versa. Make sure you connect the nodes between your trade routes though or you take a 70% hit on the price.

Last 2 days playing I didn't even kill a mob. So damn busy at Velia. Shitton of quests everywhere!
Atleast they're helping me understand the craft/workplaces stuff.
Now I just need more Contribution points....

Man this game has some engine issues. Running into Calpheon by the storage guy the entire world takes like a minute to load, then another minute for the NPCs to load. Trying to run through town, but the ground and buildings and shit aren't loaded in yet lol.

For some reason running past the Northwest Plantation also kills the game for me for a solid 15 seconds or so even though there's not even much out there.

Fishing time again. That first ancient ruins spot has some real Mass Effect vibes going for it with the music.

EDIT: I think im gonna stick with KB/M, since i'm already used to it. Btw what does it mean when trade item has expired next to it?

Went Sorc.

No regrets.

I like the fast playstyle but so far I am just face rolling the keyboard.. lol this will take some time to get into. Do gamepads fair better in this game? I could see myself switching out my KB for a steam controller.

Sorceress has a ton of synergy with many different moves, and you are going to have to learn how to dodge. She has very little defensive capabilities, but makes up for it with insane combos, extreme mobility, several dashes, knockbacks, stuns, and many multi-hits and AOE's. She's a quick and agile short-medium range melee class with tons of CC and insane damage output.

As a pad player... Keyboard and mouse is overall way better. Youre gonna want to kill yourself while navigating the UI with a pad.

There are so many original systems, features and mechanics to learn in this game that i am completely addicted and i feel like i felt when i played my first MMO (15 years ago).

Finally a MMORPG that is giving me the "im lost in a complex and gorgeous open world" feeling that i was looking for.

Just incase anyone is like me and misaed it, quest tracking by default is only for combat quests. That means other quest types like crafting and trading don't show up even if you talk to the quest giver.

You can change the tracking in the quest log with "o"

This game is such a blast to play. I'm constantly doing anything but fighting monsters. There's just so much to do and see. One minute I'm crafting some food for a quest, the next minute I'm on a trade run trying to run away from thieves patrolling the streets. Servers are chock-full of people (based on EU server list and channels), and the world feels alive and believable.

The trading system in this game is so enthralling, I'm still in Velia and have no desire to go anywhere just yet, just having fun setting up node routes, hiring workers and buying up houses.

Saw a few Gaffers running around on Orwen but couldn't get one to join party with or what not, they where busy fishing or whatever lol...

So without being really sure why I connected some farms together,I think, with Contribution points...also tried fishing in Velia where you get the quest for it but it takes too long and it says it's exausted, got to find me another spot to catch that starfish.

If you really want to get started in fishing, the coasts Northeast of Olvia are a good place to start. Very short path to connect the nodes (Olvia > Farm > Coast) and you'll get full profit. You can also later connect it to Velia and profit from there too.
