Black Ops II NDAs lifted - YouTuber impressions

I honestly don't trust them all that much with the ps3 version...for now.I remember the crazy stuff they said back at launch for black ops....

I think one guy said lag was all in your mind

Another one was them saying stuff like if you are having problems running black ops on ps3 it could be depending on how many friends you have on your list. The less friends on there the better it runs.

Im paraphrasing but you guys get the jist.

Just because its the same engine doesn't mean it will have the same issues. They can correct that. Did WaW have problems too?

BO is the only CoD that has that poor performance. It's why that game is so confusing. The 360 version of CoD always has the better framerate, but it's generally fairly small, and there's never been a difference in resolution.

BO was such a let down after coming from the IW games.

I skipped mw3 so I am ready for another cod but if they bs this next game again I'm out until next gen.

people always complain about the resolution of Bo ect but for me the main issue was that the controls and guns didn't feel as good as the last iterations.

Hopefully a demo drops near launch of the game.

Why is it that the actual reasons to play these games anymore are never anything more than number tweaks in ini files? Knife range has been nerfed - best cod ever!

This is what I came up with using that class calculator.......

Primary Weapon: Assault Rifle with Suppressor
Lethal Equipment: Bouncing Betty
Perk 1: Ghost
Perk 2: Cold Blooded
Perk 3: Dead Silence
Wildcard 1: Danger Close : Claymore
Wildcard 2: Perk 3 Greed : Awareness
Scorestreak 1: 375 pts - UAV
Scorestreak 2: 400 pts - Hunter Killer
Scorestreak 3: 525 pts - Hellstorm Missile

I can see myself running Primary and Secondary Gunfighter a lot; perks and equipment just seem kind of trifling to me.

...aside from the Flak Jacket-Toughness-Tactical Mask "lrn2shootbullets" build and the Hardline-Engineer-Black Hat point whore build.

Can't wait to try LMG with Grip+Quickdraw(if you can combine those two)+FMJ and 870 with Long Barrel+Laser Sight.

One thing I've noticed? The maps don't have crap flying around in the air like EVERY COD MAP since COD4 has had. I've never understood why stuff has to constantly be whipping around in the air.

That's likely because of the FPS average for BO PS3. Lens of Truth had its average framerate at 47fps. MW3 PS3 had an average framerate of 58fps. I think a lot of people were expecting MW3 to be a mess considering all of the people that left IW after the whole Vince and Jason breakdown. But they still managed to come through with another fantastic port.

I wouldn't count on a demo at launch. The demo for MW3 just launched in August.

I played some MW2 yesterday and forgot how annoying it was.

It's just to add some motion to an otherwise static world. Similar to how BF3 throws dust in your eyes all the time. You know to make it look more realistic.

I agree that it is overdone in most games, but what are you going to do.

I actually like seeing that. It makes the world feel more alive.

The IW engine is better at it than Treyarch's though.

Other than being visual fluff, those floating objects are there to deter the campers from pixel hunting. If they see something move on their screen, it doesn't necessarily mean somebody is there. And possibly, the reason why you don't see it yet in Blops2 is because you haven't seen much camping footage. Not to say that it is in Blops2, but they didn't show up and/or weren't perceivable while running and gunning in previous games.

So much nonsense being posted about sales figures. Amazing.

Each version has sold more than the previous, with the exception of WaW.

The tail of MW3 hasn't been as strong as BLOPS, but the launch was much bigger.

source for your lifetime sales to date? Last I read a few months ago MW3 was behind.

This was the latest we heard isn't it? http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/...as_Call_of_Duty_hit_its_peak.php#.UGtUU5jA9UQ

sales in up to july in america, via npd:

Two things in those stats. 1) They're not time aligned sales but aggregate sales. BLOPS has had 22 months in market, MW3 10 (or, using the July numbers 21 and 9, respectively). So not quite apples-apples. It's much closer when you look across both titles' first 10 months in market. I have the NPD data but obviously can't quote it. 2) Does not include Elite/digital - When you add in the revenues generated by Elite alone, there's growth. (see slide 8 of this ATVI investor presentation pdf).

The numbers you show have the same problems all NPD data has, a failure to show the complete market. Yes, BLOPS may end up selling more units than MW3 at retail, but MW3 has generated higher revenues across all channels.

I was just watching a video where Vonderhaar said they are trying to speed up S&D. Isn't the whole appeal of S&D supposed to be the slower more tense pace? I know it always was for me. If I want to run around like a crazy person I'll go play TDM.

This doesn't sound good at all. S&D is the only mode I play.

Search is the only mode I play as well, outside of zombies. What could possibly be sped up, I don't get it, lol. Does he mean make rounds shorter so when there is one guy left you aren't stuck watching a solid snake wannabe lurking around for 2 mins. Even though I hate that stuff, I think I'd prefer to keep it the same.

I'll reserve judgement though.

I get the bad feeling that they mean, including respawns.

Simply no way respawns work their way into Search. It makes no sense for the game mode. Isn't there already a mode where you can plant/disarm bombs with respawns anyway? I could swear there was. Or am I thinking of Rush in Battlefield :p

Either way, there will always be a search with no respawns.

Can't say I like the sound of this either.

There's more than enough rushing around, constant action modes as it is. Can't they leave just one slower paced mode that actually involves some tension and requires a bit of patience?

There is sabotage which is basically Search and Destroy but with Respawns.
What they could do to speed up Search and Destroy would be to limit the time in between Rounds. (that silly countdown timer at the beginning, the overly long score screen in between rounds etc)

now THAT would be perfect.

I feel like the standard Win/Lose screen at the end of each round is really annoying, as it also doesn't really fit into the mentality of people playing mainly S&D. It's a more tactical gamemode that doesn't really need the same narrative elements (dramatic intro, celebrations or "Game over" screen) like TDM or something like that.

Sounds like he's just referring to the round duration he mentioned earlier that sentence, lol.

And target locations. I'm sure it won't anount to much but the fact that they are even considering it is still a bit crazy to me.

I didn't think it was THAT bad, just inferior. Anyway I'm pretty sure they haven't said anything other than the usual things are improved overall with the engine and whatnot.

Also the texture installation is nothing major:

BO on PS3 was terrible. The jittery framerate killed it.

Kill Confirmed is back, but you actually get rewards toward your score streak for getting tags.

http://www.examiner.com/article/kil...urns-call-of-duty-black-ops-2?cid=db_articles

I like this idea a lot. But based on the "scores", 100 if you get the tags, vs 25 if a teammate gets them, I can see a lot of rage from people saying "don't get those fucking tags you asshole, I was going to get them!!!!!!!!!!!!!!", "You stole my fucking points!!!!111!!!!!!" type stuff happening. It's definitely going in the right direction though. It still BOGGLES my mind that while playing Kill Confirmed they don't list how many tags you got and denied. Hopefully that changes in BO2.

I say that stuff already.

What about 2v2. I LOVE THAT PLAYLIST!

Oh and is gun game back, because I really was disappointed in how Infinity Ward ruined it.

Played two matches of Black Ops 2 yesterday, and for the doubters, any video that you saw that showed practically no recoil is really because of that attachment that reduces recoil, because the guns truly did have significant recoil, and I'm talking the most recoil the series has had.

Namely the MP7, it continues to rise right after holding down the trigger, and you must burst it if you want to stay on target while emptying the clip.

Both matches were Multi-team matches with 4 teams of 3 - first match was Kill Confirmed on that destroyed city map, and the second one was TDM on the map in the hills with tons of paths. First map ended on a tie with another team, and the second one ended by coming in second by ONE kill as my Hellfire missile scatter shot was coming down on someone. Such a shame.

I've sworn off CoD, but I gotta say that the weapons and the additions and changes they've made to the game look really, really good.
