Those t-shirts in OP are the most hideous things ever
They're actually not as bad as the ones they were selling out on tour. It was just the album cover on a shirt... just a box on the shirt with the album cover art on it. Atleast this kind of looks better as it goes around the collar

alright, listened to the whole thing a couple times now. it's not bad.

it's not better than enema, it's not better than the s/t, it's not better than take off yr pants and jacket, it's not better than dude ranch. not even close. this is my final answer.

My bundle shipped last night, so I can't wait to get it.

Also, Dude Ranch > Enema > Cheshire > Take Off Your Pants = Neighborhoods >>> Self-titled

That changes if we include the Mark, Tom and Travis Show.
MT&TS>DR>EofS>CC>TOYPaJ=NB>>>S/T

It's strange how people think Blink used to be all about fart jokes. Sure they had some very immature songs, but they've always had songs with serious tone and lyrics to them.

Anyway, I loved their self-titled album and now neighborhoods the most, but I also like A&A and +44 more than their older stuff also.

let's be real..

old sound > new sound

c'mon.

edit: to explain further. i like the new album. it's alright. but IMO there isn't a song on it that touches anthem 1 + 2, carousel, man overboard, first date, josie, aliens exist, apple shampoo, always, dammit, dumpweed, toast and bananas, anything.

this album does not live up to the greatness of the past.

recon, i know you think i'm a dipshit, but i generally respect your musical opinions, and i can understand why you say that. i love, love, love the s/t. everything about it. but the holy trinity of blink records will always be duderanch + enema + take off yr pants. that's it.

Nope, i dont think your a dipshit. I just have a different opinion lol. I love Dude/Enema/Take Off. But its hard for me to go back to them now. They just dont hold up, imo.

listening to this new record has been fun, and i do like it. but it makes me want to go back and listen to older blink. especially takeoff. that album is fucking STACKED with righteous riffs and badassery. new one, not as much.

i mean, look at it... takeoff had:

anthem 2, online songs, first date, story of a lonely guy, rock show, rollercoaster, reckless abandon, please take me home.. that album is fucking steezy.

new one? it's cool, but i'm not gonna write home to my mama or get drunk and post videos from it on facebook ten years later.

I just have a hard time going back to all the teenage angst filled songs.

hahaha. yeah, i get that. i am totally different though. "teen angst" was an important period for alot of people. obviously, for blink 182. they were in their 30s writing hits based on it. that's the bread and the butter, man!

Still haven't gotten shipping confirmation for my pre-order. :/

Anyways, I'm really hoping people buy this album, right now its projected to do around ~150k in the opening week, which would put it at #2 after J Cole. I think the number is pretty solid for a alternative rock band, especially in 2011. Yeah you can point out that the last two blink albums opened at over 300k each, but that was over 8 years ago when music actually sold. Plus Self-titled opened at #3 (although TOYPAJ opened at 1), so that's a good sign.

I was terrified of disappointment, but I'm really enjoying the album so far. No skipable tracks, although some are better then others. Wishing Well and Kaleidoscope are two of the best blink songs yet.

I listened to it on Spotify. It seems like a step back from their self titled. All songs seemed fairly formulaistic and I don't remember any lyrics really grabbing me.

As time passes Takeoff has been my go to blink album. I love every song on it. And I like the different secret tracks thing they did.

I'm also really loving Neighborhoods, it has been more of a build up love than an instant thing that I've experienced with all their other albums.

gaddam I love this album !

Even If She Falls is just 3 minutes of pure heaven, just one continuous eargasm. Yeah, its formulaic and I know it, but god I love it!!!!!! I was in my car on the way home from class with a friend, and I'm actually shaking on the wheel like I'm having a freaking seizure during the hook, soooo fucking good! Its like he's talking directly to you, I love when that happens! This shit is crazy you guys

Isn't "I Miss You" from the selftitled? That's probably the worst song Blink ever did if we're going for teenage angsty songs.

Way to miss the whole conversation. We were talking about Enema/Dude/Take Off.

The album isn't perfect and its hard to beat dude ranch, enema or taypoj. I think "this is home" has bumped its way up to my top 3 favorite on the album... so fun to sing along to

As far as pop punk goes, they'll never top them. But they're evolving as a band to where you can't really classify them as a pop punk band, more of just a rock band. I think they can easily write (and have written, eg. Untitled) better records musically and lyrically.

i totally respect the fact that they've wanted to change their sound up and move in different directions musically. i would expect no less. to me, the fact remains that their best work is behind them. it will always be the three incredible pop punk albums, and then everything else. those albums were fucking MAGIC. that magic is gone, imo.

based on the fact that they're as popular as they are still... and how funny/awesome they are live still, they've definitely still got it. Plus this album is good as shit

This. I've seen them twice on their current tour, they put on a great show.

Listened to the album a few times. It's definitely better than the last Angels and Airwaves album. :\ The album feels too busy musically and repetitive lyrically. I had hoped Mark had learned a thing or two from producing some of Motion City Soundtrack's records.

I don't quite get the love for Dude Ranch. I mean, I like it in that it's "rough" sort of way, but I've never made it through a whole listening.

ah man, DR is perfect. No bad songs (kinda like all their albums) but that album especially has a ton of classics. Dammit, boring, degenerate, apple shampoo, emo... the list goes on and on

Apple Shampoo is probably my favorite Blink song. I first heard that song on a vagrant compilation, and it was at a point of my life where the song just helped me a ton.

Gouty

Bloodborne is shit
I think Travis should drum for The Smashing Pumpkins in his spare time, help Billy out. Then again, considering their personalities, Travis would straight up shank Billy within the first 30 minuets.

Well I got my first of two preorder bundles. Got an extra shirt as the mystery gift. Hoping my second bundle has something a little cooler.

i completely and respectfully disagree with everything but the last part of your statement.

sooo... they're still popular? judging by what metric? they're certainly still known, but their popularity peaked a long time ago. how funny/awesome are they live? i can't say, i've never seen em. i'd love to. but i'm afraid they'd do the dreaded "this is another song from our new album..." thing x 1 million. which would bum me out.

They are popular because they have legions of new fans. At the reunion tour, the majority of people there were teenagers and shit.

yes i felt old and im only 23. Also, they are the most popular touring band in the U.S. right now... If you read the rolling stone article you will see that they are playing in front of 15k-30k people at their shows now, compared to 6-10k before they broke up. So ya, more popular now than ever. Just not as mainstream

Yea, my bundle had their current tour shirt. I was...a little disappointed. At least I didn't get a shirt that I already had.

My shirt looks a bit big, but it's a Medium so it should fit. The hoodie is a bit big though as a Medium. Shoulda gotten a small.
Mine fits perfect, really happy about it. The shirt that everyone that preorders will get is super ugly, gonna use it as a "lay around the house" shirt

Finally had a chance to listen this over the last week on my commute to and from work.

I think it's a pretty mediocre album, but has some really standout tracks, and others that are total bombs.

Top 6 songs, in order:

1. Even If She Falls - Most reminiscent of old Blink 182, pure audio bliss for the whole song and one of the few tracks on the album with such a good hook that you have to replay soon after hearing it.
2. Natives
3. Snake Charmer
4. Wishing Well
5. After Midnight
6. Mh. 4.18.11

Some songs start off really well, but then just fizzle out into bland lyrics or melodies. ie. Ghost On the Dance Floor and Kaleidoscope. Decent songs but pretty forgettable.

Then there's total trash like "Love is Dangerous" (song is just as bad as it is lyrically) and "Fighting the Gravity." Their single "Hearts All Gone" is one of the worst on the album imho, and Even If She Falls should've been their radio single.

Honestly, in terms of 2011 albums from 90's pop-punk bands, I preferred Sum 41's Screaming Bloody Murder.

I've been listening to it more and its growing on me.

Yeah, but still not as bad as "Breathe." I hope nothing ever is, it's the only Angels & Airwaves song that I have to skip.
and "Fighting the Gravity."
I actually like that song.

Meanwhile Neighborhoods has a 71 on Metacritic, while Screaming Bloody Murder has a 47. :\

After repeated listens id say the list is something like this:

  1. After Midnight
  2. Even if She Falls
  3. Snake Charmer
  4. MH4182011
  5. Natives
  6. This Is Home
  7. Wishing Well
  8. GOTDF
  9. Hearts All Gone
  10. Up All Night
  11. Kaleidoscope
  12. Love is Dangerous
  13. Fighting the Gravity

And even the songs at the bottom I still enjoy. I just really think After Midnight, Even if , and snake charmer are a notch above the rest and instant classics.

No love for Ghost on the Dance Floor? It's actually my favorite, probably. After having a week to really get to know the whole album, I'd probably rank 'em like...

1. Ghost on the Dance Floor
2. Even If She Falls
3. Wishing Well
4. Hearts All Gone
5. Natives
6. This Is Home
7. After Midnight

Although I think Even If She Falls will end up as my favorite track. Kaleidoscope is definitely my least favorite of the album.
