Just completely destroyed MWN

Died the first few tries to her clone BS. Out of curiosity I tried Beast Blood Pellets to see if it'd make a difference and apparently it did. Started doing huge damage with my saw cleaver +8 and she never went into clone mode (and no, I haven't been running my PS4 for 12 hours lol) Now all that's left to do is Upper Cathedral Ward and then back up save/get the three endings. Haven't done chalice dungeons yet so I think I'll just do them from the backed up save

How do you open that giant door with the invisible enemy to the right of the grand cathedral?

you need a special item by talking to NPC in the forbidden forest. You need a
passsword
, or alternatively a graveyard
skip
at the start of the game to get there.

It will open after a certain story boss.

this is true if you already did what I said above....but happens much later in the game than I assumed you were at.

I hate how used my fingers are to Dark Souls now. I keep pressing triangle to change the weapon mode and instead heal myself. It was even worse at the start because I sometimes unintentionally hold L1 to block because looking at my transformed ax all I could see is my old halberd from Dark Souls.
Haha. I didn't have this problem when I was using the cane, blades of mercy or the chikage, I always used L1 to transform. But when I started using the
Burial Blade
I often used the 2h mode and I often hit triangle to switch back to the 1h mode and instead healed myself. If the transformed state is 2h I'd often make that mistake haha.

Never accidentally blocked though.

this?

the upper Cathedral Ward gate must be unlocked via the Hunter Chief Emblem which can be bought at the Hunter's Dream for 10k echoes after obtaining the Sword Hunter Badge from the Cleric Beast.

Serious question regarding difficulty of late game areas:

I read a lot about N
ightmare Of Mensis being super unfair/cheap, as well as Unseen Village, but I didn't really notice anything overly BS about them. Yeah there was the frenzy orange light but it seemed fairly easy to avoid by breaking its line of sight. I'm by no means an expert at this game but it's a bit disappointing to hear countless claims of "yeah the game pretty much turns into cheap BS cuz it runs out of ways to be difficult and fair" and not run into any of that. Unless these people thought it was a good idea to try and take on those rock throwing giants or something lol.

I was semi expecting there to be literally a corridor of those creepy singing brain things but I never ran into one. I heard one singing near the final shortcut but I don't think I saw one in Mensis. Cheapest/worst thing in the game for me was just the poison areas in Nightmare Frontier... I remember reading about a bell ringing woman spawning "super fast red spiders" but I never saw this (unless its a chalice thing)

I think I have to! :D And I'm pretty sure I didn't glitch her and I always play couple hours at a time and completely turn off my ps4 between playtimes so it shouldn't be that either. ^^
"When the Defiled Chalice was first built, there was a man born inside who had the ability to change whatever he wanted, to remake the Dungeon as he saw fit. It was he who freed the first of us, taught us the truth - As long as Amygdala exists, the human race will never be free. After he died, the Oracle prophesied his return and his coming would hail the destruction of Amygdala, end the war, bring freedom to our people. That is why there are those who have spent our entire lives searching Yharnam looking for him."

Last thing you mentioned is indeed a Chalice thing.

That last paragraph of what you were expecting is an actuality if you want to get the bloodrock and high quality rune.

What's the best tips to beat
Darkbeast Paarl?

Thanks.

Roll around and slash its legs. If you have a reliable way to get good shots on its head, do that instead (rifle spear charge attack, cannon, etc).

With something like an axe you can just charge-R2 under it and basically cripple it at will. It's silly.

Equip Henryk's set for bolt resist.

Goddamit, I saved up all the pungent blood and antidotes I could find for the B
lood-starved
B
east
and finally got to the boss, only to use all of them and only get him 2/3rds of the way down. Actually fuck this boss, or any other boss that requires you to use the game's shitty-ass item system on the fly while some gigantic fucking monster bears down on you.

So is there any reason to beat the root dungeons except for farming and loot? Since they are randomized, I'm wondering if they are worth the time.

Lock on to his body, stay under him and kick his ass. Just watch out for his AOE.

Thanks, I will have to buy that gear.

Leave him and fight him later that's what I did, he is optional afterall.

I just got my platinum trophy! I never thought I could handle this game, but after two weeks I mastered it! I don't know if I will keep playing, but this game puts a lot of stress on my body. My jaw hurts often because of how much tense i get when i fight a boss. Do any of you guys experience the same?

So I think I finished my first chalice dungeon. The Pthumerian one. Beat the watchdog.

What now? I have more of these type of chalices...will they get me better loot?

Started the game today.

Am getting absolutely curbstomped by everything.

May give up.

Don't give up. Honestly for me it seemed like the first area was the toughest. Once you can level up you will start to see yourself getting better and better. You will also start to realize that most normal enemies only have a couple moves so if you are patient and use the side step they will be vulnerable.

Some of the bosses on my first run gave me sweaty palms. I think it's actually worse when you're about to kill something first try. Or maybe it's just me.

Just wondering, how are you suppose to know at M
other Brain, that doing the signal gesture for some time will give you a rune?
Seriously, how are you suppose to know that? Is there any hint in the game that i've missed?

This is such a waste of time IMO and I don't know why people insist on doing it (not calling you out Donos, just saying in general).
The time you spend killing those spiders could be spent hacking at Rom. Rom and other spiders are still attacking you either way. Strafe around Rom avoiding attacks as you can and as soon as you see a clear path to him (assuming he isn't about to do his AOE) run in, attack, then run out. I like circling him because some of his spiders get caught on the other side leaving you some space to move.

To be clear, i never ever used this strategy and always said to people to use the one i posted first. But the second strategy got posted here by different people who struggled with him and beat him that way so i wanted to give him another option besides the , imo better way, i did myself (just going after rom).

I wouldn't bother with the root dungeons unless it's a depth 5,maybe depth 4.
Well, I'm looking for a good reason to skip or play the following.
Sinister Pthumeru Ihyll Root Chalice (5)
Sinister Lower Loran Root Chalice (5)
Lower Ailing Loran Root Chalice (5)
Isz Root Chalice (5)
Sinister Isz Root Chalice (5)

I might dabble in some just for kicks, but may skip all if nothing of worth.

There isn't. You just have to be insane enough to
try making contact with a Great One.
I love those kinds of crazy secrets and wish Bloodborne had more of them.

Anyone want to do Defiled together (back and forth clearing layers?). I'm 106 or so. I'm working on Isz but can make a Defiled whenever. I have some time now, but mostly I'm looking for help tonight (say, 11pm -2am PST or so). PM me if interested - i read this thread but it moves fast.

Trying a Cane + Blunderbuss combination for the first time, and it's costing me a lot more souls than the Axe + Pistol I used on my first two runs (seriously, that axe is amazing)...

Ludwig's Holy Blade is pretty good though.

I platinum'd this game a couple of weeks ago, overall I do think that the lack of magic builds hurts the replayability of the game however other than that (and technical issues) I have no complaints.

The combat, when it's not suffering from frame drops, is excellent. The level & enemy design is lovely especially during the second half of the game. While build diversity isn't quite as amazing as other Souls games, the weapons themselves do feel a lot more interesting, and you still have some interesting options like a Bloodtinge build with Evelyn / Chikage. Hopefully DLC will address build diversity somewhat.

Final Chalice boss was really enjoyable too, I was worried that it would end up being disappointing.

Dark Souls 1 is still my favourite souls game, but I'd rank Bloodborne on equal footing with Demon Souls with Dark Souls 2 at the bottom.

Well, it might? It's possible we just haven't found some yet. I mean, that one is pretty obscure. Even if I was crazy enough to
make contact, I don't know that I'd have waited 30 seconds. Then again, I suppose if you realized it wasn't attacking, you might decide it hid a secret and so would start trying things... maybe?
.

There are definitely 'secrets' and/or glitches that I'm shocked anyone figured out. For example, the
experience glitch where you had to leave some things unkilled in one zone, race to another zone, then circle a table..
... how did anyone figure that out? Not that I would ever use a glitch like that in BB, would ruin the game for me.

Is it possible to uninstall Bloodborne, install the disc version, and then replicate the infinite blood echoes glitch, and then patch the game?

I want to level all the stats to 99, if possible, on my MC.

I would like to try it instead of asking, but then I don't have access to my PS4 for about a week.

If I have to make a new character, so be it though. It'll be worth it.

I use constant DPS on her - don't give a chance to attack!

What's the best way to farm for chunks and rocks? I have some weapons I want to max, but material is precious and I am being careful.

Upper Cathedral Ward...The 3 werewolves in the main building with the brain suckers. There is also one upstairs to the left by the window down the hall.

Mind you, you need to unlock the main entrance to the building before you can go straight in and farm the werewolves for blood stones directly from the lamp post.

Wow Rom fight keeps glitching like crazy while I do coop. The adds are all spawned in at once but most of them are inactive and just now the host was invisible during the fight.

Yeah as I mentioned I didn't mean to lash out at you or anything but between what I've seen in co-op and what's been suggested, my argument is unless you want to spend 10+ minutes per attempt, most of which is just clearing spiders, then so be it but it doesn't make Rom any less dangerous on his own, so avoiding the spiders are just one more obstacle in the fight, one that's easy to avoid if you never stop moving. Clearing the spiders in the first phase is fine if you want to inflict the most free damage on him. Me personally I've never been able to do more than 50% of his health with these free hits but for those struggling this could be huge for progress.

I know you spoilered it, but damn... that is like an ultra spoiler. The guy didn't ask anything about the final boss. No reason to even mention it. Just my two cents. I'd be pissed if I accidently read that while asking such a simple question like how far in am I.

Thanks for the info guys.

Yea he spoiled it. Wish I didn't know who the final boss was but it's not that big of a spoiler for me.

Oh well.

Alfred is a boss. 2nd character playthrough using summons, and jeez, what a tank. Completely cheesed CB and BSB while I flung a torch with my Arcane-build girl.

Also, didn't realize he used the Kirkhammer as a default. Interesting.

He seems to only use the Logarius Wheel for special occasions.
