Finished a new game plus and only now started to play chalices, too repeting and easy ( i screwed up) beated up like 9 new bosses, im done :D

So I've been spending my entire NG+ run so far with the Burial Blade. It's speed threw me a bit in comparison to my saw spear but I stuck with it since completely ungemmed it still did slightly more dmg at +8 vs the spear at +10.

Since you can't use papers on it I'm not sure it'll be as jack of all trades as the spear, but I feel like its transformed state is much nicer than the saw. Also it + Crowfeather armor is pretty god tier looking.

NG+ is flying by, and while general mobs feel nastier right now, the bosses have been easy. It happens in every souls game, but it still blows me away how different the game feels when it all isn't totally new and unknown.

  • Amygdala
in chalice dungeon is a crazy p.i.t.a.
  • One-shot deaths all over the arena.
  • You get masterful at phases 1 & 2, no damage taken, she goes down to ~30%.
  • Tears arms off and becomes a crazy force.
  • I find ways to get damage in. Dodge two slam black hole strike, two shots on the arm. Dodge three slam strike, one shot if possible. When she leaps, roll forward, three shots on body. Do this for quite a bit of time but you are safe from hits except for unlucky roll possibilities.
  • Amydala is at 5% health. Game glitches, Amydala picks me up with phantom ice cream scoop arm and I travel effortlessly into a glitch corner. Then I'm hit once and die.
  • Fuck that shit.
Beat her a few tries later but fuck fuck fuck that garbage.

Finally got the chance to sit down and play this for several hours. I've been away from it mostly since release week.

killed 4 bosses and 3 of them were on the first try. The other took 2 tries. I almost lost to
Shadows
but pulled it out in the end.

This hunter in
Brygenworth(sp)
is a real pain in the ass though. That's where I had to stop for the night but she killed me a few times.

Just got an ego boost from a friend of mine who's also playing through at roughly the same speed as me:

HIM: Ah right, I died when fighting the 3 hunters in the unseen village, called it a day. Maybe you need to stop wearing the dress and put some point into vit :P

ME: I've switched to the Crow gear now that I've done Eileen's quest. Vitality can stay at 15 though, I've just got to git gud son.

HIM: Well I think even those who consider themselves amazing at the game have vitality at 25, I imagine your getting one shotted when your hit?

ME: So what you're saying is; I'm even better at the game than the amazing-people as I've done it so far with less? ;)

what does this do? i'm almost done with NG+, but i haven't fucked with this at all because i tried to use it twice on some enemies and it did nothing and i got wrecked

If it hits, it makes them attack each other for about 15 seconds. You won't auto-win the fight with it, but get it right and you can just clean up the mess afterwards.

I found that after she tears her arms off shes a joke. Just stay close at all times. I never got hit, used the scythe or the axe to hit her from her sides

A
mygdala
is a root dungeon small room (same room you fight R
om
) makes things a little bit harder.. lol. But with full health, can survive easily.

I reckon it makes the target you hit with the blade (careful, it's a consumable, it's melee so you have to be pretty close and the hit animation is quite lengthy) either attack or be attacked by the other enemies. Either way it helped me : )

I have been playing New Game Plus for a while and I have been finding the game a lot easier. I mean I had trouble with
Blood Starved Beast, Paarl and gascoine
during my first attempt and now I am killing them in my first attempt. I am playing with insight of 72 and so I keep hearing baby crying since Old Yarnham.

It sucks that we cannot upgrade our armor and enemies now have a larger health pool and hit harder. I was expecting New game plus to be so hard that I have to play it slowly one enemy at a time but so far it is a surprisingly easy. I do use the +10 Ludwig.

Looking forward to the difficulty spike after
Rom

Never tried that strat. Got too scared I guess from the arms. She really doesn't hit you when she swipes? Are you fighting her in chalice with 1/2 health or SP?

Layer 4 & 5 chalices (throw in some cursed/fetid/rotted/defiled modifiers) = the real NG+/++. You even get the best gems and runes. They really should have made the weapons a little stronger in there, they just have different bloodgem sockets as it stands, which can work well with certain weapons, but doesn't feel like it adds much on most of them imo.

Is
Ebrietas
the hardest boss in the game? I died like 25 times (new game) to her. Had to farm for vials since I kept running out of them. I fought her with insight on 62 (not sure if it had impact). I can put with most of her attacks accept that magic spam or when she just rams you. After fighting her I felt even
Gerhman
was little easy. Atleast he is parryable.

I never got that far away from her and beat her in my first try (defiled chalice). I just kept hammering her hands until she was dead. I did not use lock on and rolled every time she attacked. Hitting her legs doesn't do much damage and trying to aim for the head is too time consuming, aiming for the arms was the best strategy for me. :p

Hey can anyone tell me if they have a hard time summoning in the Chalice dungeons? My buddy and I used local and a password and finally got together in Cainhurst, but we could not get together in the Loran Chalice. We were in the same spot. ANy special tips for getting together in chalices?

LIke many of the seemingly impossible bosses...YOLO is the best strat...try to get inside her ass if you can.

I did the most damage to her arms. You guys must be using some good gear. Nothing but +10 Cane here.

EDIT:
I also kinda wonder if we fought the same boss. Haha. The boss I fought would have destroyed me with that strat. Confusing.

Are you using excact same chalises? You have to have same dungeon glyph code I think. First your friend creates a chalice dungeon and then gives you his code and then you have to search for a chalice with that code and then you can co-op. I know, it sucks. :/

Explained here:

I was using kirkhammer and I did not use any special kind of armor. :)

Had my first actual fight with an invader. Took away near all of his health and he just ran away far back in the opposite direction of where I needed to go so I just left. Of course then he shows back up and kills me haha

Made some good progress. I beat 3 bosses
forest trio, Rom and Paarl.
I also made it to the worst area in the game
Unseen Village
. When you find a place like this you realize that there is no longer such thing as cheesing because the game is now cheesing me, It is dog eat dog and any and all tactics are acceptable.

Can't lie. I'm starting to enjoy convincing people to jump into this cage.

ibrcPMO.jpg

It's actually a really devious set-up. Below is a small gap between the cage and staircase. Jumping instead of rolling will cause you to bop your head on the cage and fall through the gap to your doom.

I was using kirkhammer and I did not use any special kind of armor. :)

I realize there are glyphs for random dungeons but I am talking about the regular chalice areas that are the same for everyone. I see people help each other out on here without using glyphs...anyone here that has done that?

I didn't mean armor.

But I guess you can cheese her:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hf_WwkLgZo

Well, I beat her straight up so I can walk away with that.

Well with hammer I got couple viceral attacks as well so that made the fight a little easier.
But even in that video after halfway that guy just keeps hitting her legs and tail which does very little damage. Oh well. :D I think I need to beat her again just to be able to upload a video. :D

I had so much more trouble with that
Watchdog
and
Pthumearian Decendant
... and with my personal nemesis
Rom
.

Can someone explain how all the chalice dungeons work. I got some chalices, but I've only spawned 1 dungeon so far.

The Pthumerian one, level 3. I wasn't that interested because I thought they were procedurally generated (not into that) but I read someone post that a lot aren't. So how do I get those and what can I find in them?

I'm pretty sure that even regular chalices require that. ^^' As you can see, even regular chalices have those glyph codes and you can search for other players' regular chalices. I know, it sucks.

I got hit with the lovely Ebrietas lift bug :(
It's an elevator bug that's not exclusive to Ebrietas. The bug happened to me in NG with Ebrietas. Now I'm on NG+ and it happened with the shortcut lift in the Nightmare Frontier. It happens when a loading screen happens while the player is on the lift. I was summoned and I didn't roll off the lift in time.

OK thanks that would explain it if indeed we need to get a glyph code as well.

You are on the right track. Basically, there are base chalices that you get by beating bosses, but most of the other chalices are acquired by beating more chalices. it is a shame people dont try these until NG+ becuase most of the early ones are too easy with an op character, are too boring, and then people dotn get to the hard ones, which are massively more difficult than the regular game IMO. Just keep going...you will get 30 extra boss fights ( some are variations on the same boss but they are always unique in some way) and a tonne of AWESOME loot if you persist and keep going with it.

At what level did you beat the game?

I felt the latter bosses of the game were easier for me, maybe I was over leveled (around 85)?

I finished the game at level 82. Only boss that really kicked my ass was E
frietas
. G
ehrman
took a few tries, but wasn't nearly as difficult.

Hey guys, I only have about 10 hours into the game so far and was wondering if anyone has some basic tips regarding gear/upgrades. I have beaten the first 3 bosses ( and got the key to the one huge gate).

I took the blunderbuss and the saw cleaver. Both are at level 3 but now need double stones to upgrade further.

Im not super good at the game so can anyone tell me if I should continue to upgrade the items I have or should I go to something like an axe which seems to be very popular. Also, what gear is good? I have been using the gear that you buy in the hunters dream since the first hour essentially but I assume there is significantly better stuff soon.

Im about level 29, been mostly putting my points into strength and skill. Is that a good approach? I have kept blood Tinge and arcane rather low as they have not really benefitted me yet.

Any small tips would be appreciated.

I also just got the first Chalice, should I go into that dungeon?

Any good tips for the huntress at Byrgenwerth? I'm on a run, killed P
aarl
and S
hadow of Yharnam
today. She makes me want to call it a day, though.

Yea, that's the 3rd stage of her fight. All the YT videos are cheesing her that way. I did a more dangerous strat detailed in my post, which eventually worked except I had to dodge her / keep my distance. So way harder but still successful in the end.

So I'm wondering how you could camp her front or side, smashing her arms. You sure you didn't get a glitched from standby or playtime?

EDIT:
Could also just be equipment or you found a safe spot. Upload to YT to show up the cheesers. :)

I use constant DPS on her - don't give a chance to attack!

What's the best way to farm for chunks and rocks? I have some weapons I want to max, but material is precious and I am being careful.

You should be alright with level 3 weapons at this point in the game. When you start getting twin blood stones regularly, that's when you should start thinking about upgrading. Don't forget to manage the blood gems you're using with your weapons - they can make quite a difference to your damage output. So long as you don't neglect upgrading as you get further on and keep an eye on your blood gems, you should be fine.

Are you using anything that scales with skill? I believe the Saw Cleaver scales mostly with strength, so it might be worth ignoring skill for the time being. Armour in this game doesn't really get made redundant - different armours suit different situations. The starting armour has particularly high physical defense, but other armours will be better for different things. For example, the Black Church set has very high poison resistance, which comes in very handy. My tip, though, would just be to wear what you think looks best!

Got my guide from Amazon. Now just waiting for the patch and a long weekend off work =)

Edit: I just ordered a second guide. I'm not sure why. I think I want one to wreck and page through and another to keep sealed. What am I doing with my life?

I think I have to! :D And I'm pretty sure I didn't glitch her and I always play couple hours at a time and completely turn off my ps4 between playtimes so it shouldn't be that either. ^^

You are doing fine, although yes, THe axe is definitely a better "noob" weapon as the spin to win R2 can pretty much get you through some tough spots. Dont worry about wasting upgrades up to +6 (i.e. twin bone shards) as these can be bought eventually. However you will need to decide what your main weapon will be when you have to get chunks as these cant be bought and are pretty rare. YOu can do both skill and strength, but most choose one or the other. There is a cool sword type weapon you will have access to soon that can replace the axe as the best weapon, and it does boost off of both str and skill. You will get more benefit from STR from your axe for the time being though. As far as tips, you are doing great if you already beat the first three bosses. Others will require new strats, but you did it before so you can do it again. Just dotn get discouraged. It will SEEM like upcoming bosses are impossible, but they arent, just have to use some different strats. Dont spoil yourself on video unless its a last resort, you will get more satisfaction if you figure it out yourself.

Yes definitely go into the chalices as soon as possible. They start really easy and the first ones best be done at low level. You will progress in the game and then go to the chalices for a while back and forth. There are lots of good gems and stuff you wont get in the main story in the chalices.

I just stun locked her using the blade of mercy and killed her with one long combo that used my whole endurance bar. If that doesnt work, single hunters can be cheesed by hiding behind the geometry of the area and spamming charge attacks when they come around the corner etc. The multiple hunters are another story!

For anyone that hasnt seen the latest echoes glitch, I did my own vid on how to do it. I usually dont do these things, but it will make doing a chikage build from the start of the game without killing any bosses except for
Lorgarius
much more viable.
