I'm so used to the Hunter's Axe and its attack patterns that I'm really having problems using other weapons. I've leveled up a few other weapons to the same level but for me they just fall short (as in they are literally too short sometimes). It's probably just a matter of forcing myself to learn Ludwig's Blade etc., but for some reason I always keep coming back to the axe.

TBH there's no real "best" weapon in the game. Just use whichever you like the feel of and which move-sets suit your style of play. There's plenty of people completed the game using only the hunter's axe. It really is fantastic at crowd control and makes some later boss battles much easier.

I switched to Ludwig's around half way through my play-through and got it to +10 but I still kept my axe as my second weapon at +8.

Finally got the Platinum Trophy! Some of those chalice dungeon bosses, especially the defiled, were a challenge. Solo'd every boss. I couldn't get the game out of my head the last few weeks. I was living and breathing Bloodborne. The last time I felt like this about a game was Fallout 3. Absolute masterpiece.

PLATINUM!!!!

At last!

That was an effort and a half. Great game.
Demon Souls was my #1 Plat. This is my #1 now.

Thank you linesmen. Thank you ball boys. Good night and god bless...

... the moon.

Well done. Feels good doesn't it.

Oh yeah the satisfaction is amazing! Well done to you too. The last time I got a platinum trophy was God of War 3 and Fallout 3 years ago. I honestly lost the urge to chase platinum trophies but this game brought that feeling back.

Gonna PM the glyph to you guys after this message. I´m pretty damn sure that is the one I got all those weapons from. Even if one of them is off, it is a good dungeon nonetheless. Please tell me if everything was as I mentioned. :)

I got the glyph. Thanks!

It's going to take some time before I can confirm that these items are present, because I haven't made a Sinister Root Pthumeru Ihyll dungeon myself yet. If I understand correctly how it works, I won't be able to visit your dungeon until I've made a similar one myself.

Finished the game yesterday and got the platinum trophy.

I really love Bloodborne. Despite using the Souls framework it still feels unique to me because of the setting and the changes in combat.

You can still see that they use their old engine for this and that the old Dark Souls 2 lighting system is now at work here, and there are a lot of reused assets and rough edges, but man there are certain moments where the game looks mindblowing. The whole art design is impressive, maybe even more than any previous Souls games since instead of using usual dark fantasy tropes they had to think about a lot of new stuff and add crazy cool shit like weapons that can transform into different weapons. There are not many games where I decide to slowly walk through the world instead of running through it; so many details and hints to absorb. Absolutely fantastic.

But still.. after playing dozens of hours, I must say that Bloodborne has some weaknesses that are rather disappointing. Speaking of the world, I really dislike the way NPCs were included in this game. You talk to windows and doors instead to persons that you can attack or talk into following you to your base. And even then, most people you are meeting are just civilians that have little to no purpose. Demon's Souls still does this the best, you meet people in the world and they join you and your base grows with more and more people. Every NPC there has a purpose and it's fun to see them all after beating a difficult boss and talking to them.
Chalice dungeons turned out to be more boring than I expected. At some point I just gave no shits anymore and ran through every dungeon, opened the boss door's and spent hours trying to kill those. Some of the ideas in the chalice dungeons are cool and sometimes you get Diablo vibes from it, and I also appreciate the fact that almost every enemy you encounter there was made specifically for the dungeons, but at some point - like every roguelike before it - it becomes dull.

The biggest issues have been the mechanical changes; I have no idea why I have to use a hunter's badge or return to the hunter's dream to reset the enemies when this has already been solved in both Dark Souls games. Why do I need to farm blood phials and bullets like in Demon's Souls instead of using the superior solution found in Dark Souls? These problems seem minor but because of the time it takes to solve both they are really annoying.

Other than that.. amazing game and the definite killer app for the PS4 that justifies a console purchase. Probably even the first game that made me appreciate my PS4.

I wouldn't put it above Dark Souls, but probably on the same level as DeS and way above Dark Souls 2. This is a game that I hope will receive some additional DLC since the combat is crazy fun.

So, about that door:

Any way to open the door in the cellar in Cathedral Ward lower section, at the very end, past the two rock guys and the stone-wielding church giant?

Nope. That would connect to Great Bridge so it is pretty much useless anyway and there is lore reason for it not to open.

No. It seems that it was closed off intentionally. It would lead to the great bridge where you fought Cleric Beast (you can see it below).

My theory is they did it to reduce load times. If that shortcut was open they would need to load Cathedral and Central Yarnem from Cathedral Ward, Great Bridge and Central Yarnem Lamps.

Soooo... I just beat A
mygdala
in Defiled Chalice Dungeon and I thought I almost lost my sanity.
I am in Pthumeru Ihyll at the moment and I have a question.
How difficult is Y
harnam
? :'D

Awww, I want a Plutonium trophy too!

Wow... Congrats to him!

Way easier than the bosses in Defiled Chalice since no OHKO. Once you get the boss gimmick down should be fine.

The soundtrack is so good I can't justify listening to spotify over it. Although going back to past areas and fighting a boss fo the 10th time it helps listening to something different. Played the Vice city soundtrack while roaming the dreaded upper cathedral and when fighting
Daughter of the Cosmos
, keep on loving you from Reo started playing. Perfect.

Say I found a blood rock in a dungeon, if I removed the dungeon and created it again will I be able to get the rock again from the chest ?

No. You can only get 1 rock per chalice type. For example, if you found 1 in Isz dungeon, you won't be able to get another one from every other Isz dungeon. In its play, you will find a wisdom item. It was done so you can't get unlimited rocks.

Has anyone else noticed the framerate getting worse in NG+? I had HUGE drops pssing the last two fog walls (I'll video proof it next time I pass one), like literally ONE frame per second (starting from
Rom
+ onwards), could this be linked to the savegame getting too heavy?

The game seems "heavier" too, not responsive as it used to be on my first run, and I'm noticing some sort of added input lag although that could be just my imagination. What the hell? I hope my PS4 is not acting up.

I was under the impression that it's actually using the same lighting system as in Demon's Souls and Dark Souls 1, but they could use more of it because it is a stronger system. They were smart by not trying to reinvent the lighting wheel like DS2 tried to do and just going with what provided the first two games with such strong atmosphere to begin with.

You can actually see the model of most of the NPCs you meet depending on where you send them or if you manage to get to certain places, and several have interesting story twists depending on what you do with them. The lack of "useful" NPCs just lended to show what kind of world I was in which was a rather hopeless one which for storytelling purposes is all the purpose required.

Aah well, that's reassuring.
Seriously, Defiled A
mygdala
almost gave me a headache D:

It may gave been placebo effect, but it seemed to me like the cursed dungeon bosses did reduced damage on their moves due to the lower health pool you have. Obviously FROM wanted to make it challenging without being downright unfair or impossible. Other than the charge move from
Watchdog
or the jump from
Amygdala
I didn't find most of the moves did that much damage, but the bosses were still super hard. Doggie took me probably 50+ tries. Amy was a pushover after going through that.

It's hit/miss for me.
Though, it doesn't seem too different from new game where I had pretty shitty framerate stuff happen to me.

Mostly happens with co-op, areas with a lot of effects, taking corners too fast or going through fog doors.

A few notable moments, though:

Dropped some major frames then seemingly disappearing into a wall at one point. That really sucked. But, nothing will ever beat me helping a friend and walking through the fog wall only to get what seemed like negative frames, not being able to do anything while also being a distraction to the enemy and taking no damage.

On his side I was simply just standing there.

Everything went back to normal after the fight was over, including my weapon buff that i activated before everything took a dive (I think this had something to do with what happened to me). Thought that would have went out ages ago, but nope.

To my friends dismay I was awarded for doing absolutely nothing.

How much Vitality/Health do people have when doing those bosses? The first boss you list was pretty much the same fight as the first time I fought him, once I equipped appropriate armor.

As long as you aren't getting one-shot, the cursed dungeon fights are mostly the same as the originals. That first one was a 2nd try, the second was 4th or 5th.

You beat the defiled version of the dog on your 2nd try? It's attack patterns may be similar, but it's not even close to the same fight as the other verions. It hits way harder, has probably triple the health, and your HP pool is cut in half. Unless you studied it's every move and found countermeasures during your first encounter, not sure how you beat it on your 2nd try.

I had just over 700 health with the 10% HP rune equipped. I could survive a charge attack if I had full health and it didn't hit me point blank, but usually it was a OHKO move. I died to this or it's flaming bites move the most. That shit stunlocks you to death.

No differences for me. Maybe it's because you're co-oping more on NG+?

I am, but I'm noticing the drops much more even when playing solo. Overall it's just an impression but the slideshow when I pass a fogwall is objective, you can't not see it. I'll try to record it and put it on youtube now.

Turn on camera auto-adjust. For whatever reason there are times when going through a fog wall where the game doesn't know how ot follow your character and that somehow drops the framerate to nothing. Turning on camera auto-adjust fixes that.

So, rookie question:

For the chalice dungeon gravestones, does it matter which garvestone you use to create the chalice? Are certain chalices only possible with certain gravestones?

Any tips for Rom? Most tips I see basically say USE TONITRUS. I'm out of shards tho :(.
Ludwig guy here, I just went in, ran to him ignoring the spiders, hit him on the side as much as possible while rolling every now and then when a spider behind me was charging an attack. When he teleports, I roll out of the spider crowd, recharge my stamina and run to him again, while healing when hit by one of the projectiles.

Rinse, repeat. Worked on NG+ too. The key was ignoring the spiders for me.
