Two questions:

1. Someone told me today that (third boss spoilers)
Blood Starved Beast
was optional. What? I mean, I already beat him, but I thought killing him was necessary to get to the
Healing Church Workshop
?

the
healing church workshop
is optional.

Maybe R
om
was broken for me, but I managed to kill him on my second attempt. It took ten minutes though.

Here's how I managed:

I basically kept running around in circles around him while killing the baby spiders. Once he's down to 1 baby spider, I just ran up and started whaling away.

I had to kill off two waves of spiders. I you're constantly moving in one direction his bolt (or whatever) wasn't able to hit me.

When the spiders jump and impale themselves, you can one shot kill em.

Like I said it was tedious, but not really challenging.

Yep, fight was just a test of patience.
Spiders only took 3 swings of my blade to kill them, so it wasn't too bad.

I read people referencing backstabbing? I still haven't been able to pull that off. How do you do it? Obviously it's not like in Dark Souls?

LIK JUST YOU WAIT

It's a very easy game.

Then you get to the defiled dungeon. It's the definition of fuck you mechanics.

On that note, I'm refraining from leveling so I can help you with that later :P I think youll need to be 111, but thats not that bad by that point :3
Yeah, totally an easy game. May as well be playing Ponyz Platinum Ryde. I wish they would make challenging games nowadays, I'm so fucking cool.

I beat Rom without hitting a single spider (aside from Rom himself, I mean).

Seriously, just zip in for a couple quick hits, then run away before anything can hit you.

I'm surprised people bother trying to fight the minions.

I've done it both ways, and I'd suggest-

real fight- kill minions,
chalice
fight, kill him first.

It's obvious that increasing the depth of a single chalice makes the dungeons harder, but what about different chalices? For example, is depth 1 of the Great Isz Chalice comparable to depth 1 of the Pthumerian Chalice? Or is it harder?

The Isz chalice is depths five so it is much harder than a depth 1 Prhumeru chalice. But in genera, ifl two chalices are of the same depth, you should expect enemies with similar power.

Perform a fully charged R2 attack while the enemy is not facing you. It staggers them. Then pile on with a massive damage R1 attack while they are stunned.

k, question (true ending spoilers)

if i never told
arianne to go to odeons chapel

do you think i can still do that even after
the moon turns orange?

can anyone else confirm if this is a no-go?

as i said i
already killed Iosefka at the wrong moment and couldnt get one there
so its pretty much my last shot at the right ending, at least without going into NG+

I want to say that you have to die in Yharnam in order to access it.

But I don't want to die... :(

I thought you just needed 1 insight... on NG+ I'd figure you'd have that right away. You'd definitely have it after beating the Cleric Beast.

Have you been using suspend/resume? I've noticed that bugs out multiplayer. Try quitting and reloading the game. Also set your network settings to Worldwide instead of Local.

In the normal game that's the case. I have 99 Insight at the moment.

You just need to enter the Dream for the first time, exit and then come back. No need to beat any bosses.

Thank you! I didn't think to zone back out and try a second time.

Ok I'm starting to see a lot more variety in chalice dungeons. Quite enjoying them now, they've reached the right difficulty for me and there's some real dirty tricks in them

Just kill the spiders guys, it's going to make your lives a lot easier. It's going to take you an extra 5 minutes, but at the cost of not having to make a vial run or wait through load screens.

Another vote for this. Died first time to a stupid smaller-ish spider and next time cleared them out and it made things much easier. I go for the ones at the edge of the pack so as not to get ganged up on.

Except the fact that 4 defiled is the hardest thing in the entire game >.>

I defiled chalice gives you half health, for those wondering. The only thing that was hard about the defiled chalice was the second boss,
The watchdog of the old Lords
. Well, not the only thing it's obviously very difficult, but if you can take down the boss you can take down the rest of the dungeon. That fight took me four hours to really learn.

I've still never been invaded and I just beat afte midgame/early endgame boss. Is that normal?

Invasions are only available in certain area's and you may not have gotten that far yet. And I believe you have to ring the resonant bell and not kill the sinister bell ringer in order to be invaded too. So if you haven't been ringing your resonant bell then no chance either way...

So Ive explored Old Yarnham and it just led me all the way to the begining. Must have missed a turn off I'm guessing? I'll go back later.

Went to the Cathedral Ward instead and used the 10k key got to the boss, got it down to half health then died. Seemed relatively easy but just couldnt do enough damage.

Cheesed the hell out of that hunter before
Rom

I just ran in circles around the stairs so his genkidama spell didn't hit me while I kept throwing poisoned knifes non-stop.

I can't help but wonder if there's some kind of troll algorithm generating some of these rooms. The dual cannon giants are obviously a set piece of some kind that it just plops into the level. But I've seen shit like a tiny 3 square foot room with nothing but a chest and a dude hiding in a little alcove waiting to bash your head in with a pickaxe.

It is? There doesn't seem to be any other open routes. I've explored everywhere else and the dude in Hunter's Dream told me to look for a new path open in Oedon.

I've been saving all my material for my main trick weapon, since I haven't really found another one and I am not sure about upgrading the guns, is there any point to that? does it make parrying easier? or just increase the damage they deal? cause if it is the latter then I see no point in wasting the upgrade material

You can only be "Invaded" if you ring your Sinister Bell or a Maiden spawns from the other one. There's no more forceful invasions.

That's probably one of my few disappointments with this game. I really wish there were areas like the Forrest in DS1 or Bell tower in DS2.

So I am unable to find Eileen. I talked to her originally in the sewers before fighting any bosses but haven't seen her since. I have killed
Father G, BSB, Amelia
unlocked shortcuts in
Forbidden Woods and Hemwick Chanel Lane (or whatever its called)
. I went outside the front door (straight from the lamp) in the Cathedral ward
where you sent sane people for safety
and looked to the left but don't see her there (I have bought the 10k key and opened all gates, to my knowledge). I checked in front of the Grand Cathedral and also at the
Tomb of Oedon
but she isn't in any of those spots. I even went to her first location in the sewers but she isn't there either. Anyone have any ideas?

Did you get him to 2 hand the Chikage? I can't get him to bring it out!
Yeah, trying to fish out his various stances can get aggravating.
The run I finally beat him I was all out of numbing mist, but he never tried to heal. Staying in striking distance is key so you can get in cheap swipes when he tries to do so. Cheap swipes and bullets.
I'm sure it's been said a million times, but Cane is absolutely amazing if you're willing to invest effort into learning its move set, know where it can work and where it doesn't work in whip form. Dropping bosses like flies in NG+ with it.

Every weapon in this game is good it seems. That's why I have no issue with there being fewer of them in the game than in the Souls series -- they cut out the shit and feature only stuff you will WANT to upgrade, not feel forced into upgrading.
I am not on NG+ yet, but still maining my Cain +9. Very happy with the weapon.

I'm having a very hard time deciding between starting to level up Arcane or Bloodtinge. I wasn't planning on using either, but I have enough Vit, End, and Dex to last. Bloodtinge helps with the gun and torch I always use. Arcane boosts some very nice main weapons I could use. Tough choice.

One of the npcs told me about that place and that it was worth a look, I think it was the guy at the hub. So is it that door at the top surrounded by vases? If so, how do I get in?

so I just got to vicar boss in grand cathedral and she screamed and swiped me for instakill. yeesh

I sent the prostitute to the clinic. It seemed logical, lol. Iosefka sounded pretty convincing at first but there are people at the ward, I almost killed that weird looking dude on the floor.

Are you doing random dungeons? Only the root chalices are randomized. The rest are premade.

There is no strat but to git gud and dodge.
Your HP bar is 1/2, healing barely helps since you die in 1-3 hits either way.

1/2 HP means nothing to me with these games. I basically played through all of Demon's Souls in Souls form which was half health, heh.

I'm not so sure you can just turn it into an easy strat at high enough hit point values some stuff just becomes cheese-proof.

someone will figure it out. they always do.

sooner or later, there will be an easy strat out there.

I think this boss may be the exception

I mean, I already posted a cheese strat for
abhorrent beast
, who some argue is the hardest boss.
But this guy? Even if you somehow found a way to safely hurt him, youre still dodging a hell of a lot of attack for a hell of a lot of time. I think the fight MIGHT be cheese-strat proof just from obnoxiousness?

You must all suffer like we did.

That means anything he hits you with has a good chance of killing you :P And he has buffed hp. It's just a really long fight to go without eating many hits.
