Bloodborne PSX Demake Hit By Copyright Claim from Sony

The Bloodborne PSX demake has become the latest Bloodborne-related fan project to be hit with a copyright claim after the Bloodborne 60fps mod was struck last week.

McDonald followed up to tweet that MarkScan are a company hired by Sony Interactive Entertainment, and the same company that “DMCAed my page about the Bloodborne 60fps patch.”

“And now they’ve DMCAed an old video about the Bloodborne PSX demake project. That’s pretty wild. What the hell are they doing??”

McDonald offered what he called his “copium theory,” though: that Sony could be working on an official remake.

“My copium theory is that Sony DMCAed the 60fps patch and the video about the Bloodborne demake so that when they announce a 60fps remake, google searching for ‘bloodborne 60fps’ and ‘Bloodborne remake’ won’t have collisions with our fan projects,” McDonald said.

“Let me cope.”

It's certainly weird that this is all happening at this exact point in time. 10th anniversary of Bloodborne in March and a State of Play in a few weeks?
Be cautious, people.
I'm very suspicious of this. It's not every day Sony adopts a Nintendo-like attitude towards fan mods of their game, initiating a DMCA takedown for a title like Bloodborne coinciding with Bloodborne's 10th Anniversary in March.

I saw something similar happen many years ago when AM2R, a fan remake of Metroid 2: Return of Samus, debuted back in 2016 and for a few days, was subject to a similar DMCA takedown which led to AM2R's creator being forced to take it down in fear of legal issues. And the reason Nintendo did such a thing is because they were secretly making their remake of Metroid 2: Samus Returns.

Hopefully, we have news in March about this suspicious state of events.

I feel as though this is just them automating copyright protection and it getting hits from these projects. I will be pleasantly surprised at a remaster/remake though.

I want to believe, but I also can't help but assume that it could just be some blanket DMCA attempt. But I want to believe, lol.

To me sounds more like copium. Theres not much reason other than the bad word of mouth against them. They already had negativity enough on their plate.

I was thinking exactly the same. Sony hasn't done anything about Bloodborne for a long time, and suddenly they go after the 60 FPS patch and now this... I guess I need to get myself ahold on some bloodbornium :messenger_tears_of_joy: (Remastered version with a PC port announcement too; pretty, please?)

At this point I can't even be cautiously optimistic about Sony (finally) doing something with Bloodborne.

Kind of a clickbait title. The original demake fan video got taken down. The actual project on itch.io is up and fine.

People can make their own games but they can’t make unauthorized Bloodborne games. Not sure why anyone is confused about this.

I don't think anyone is confused. It's just weird that they suddenly go after fan projects that are several years old.

Just don't use the name idiots. They are likely doing something for the 10th anniversary and are protecting the IP.

Sony didn't save Kadokawa for nothing. They requested Mizyaki stop what he's doing and work on the BB.

Shame that this kind of project are stroked done.

If Sony is really working on Bloodborne, I really hope it's a sequel or something new (or will they use bosses on the Nightrein's Elden Ring minigame ?....). Remaster is useless.
A remake why not, but I don't feel the game needs it (I know "60 FPS" bla bla... but it does nothing to me)

The prophecy isnt lined up yet. They still need to go through their entire catalogue at least three times before we finally get bloodborne.

The Last of Us Truly for Sure Part 2 Redux

Then Knack 2: the electric boogaloo remaster

Then Bloodborne

The game can still be dl'ed from itch.io

I never tried it before, but now I have all the versions backed up. Barbra Streisand strikes again!

Its possible that there will be a bloodborne remake for ps5 while bloodborne 2 might be reserved by Sony as a Ps6 launch game.🤞
