BLOODBORNE Spoiler Thread (read OP)

Do we have any screenshot of that weapon?

Nope. It has not been shown in any trailer or gameplay. It's not surprising considering another weapon that has already been shown.

Hint: There is a
rapier/pistol
(weapon already shown) in the game right? What do you think is the next progression of that type of weapon?

I'm bad at guessing games. A
bigger shotgun gunblade?

Please PM if you don't want to share publicly.

ugh, 20+ GB. if it's true that I can't preload with the EU version then I won't even be able to play it when the game launches here. US gets the game one day earlier too, UGH

uh, you're one of those that are already playing the game?

I'm not 'pretending' anything, simply stating that the story as it stands and the way it's presented does nothing for me. I do serial-chat to NPCs, but only as a means to further the game, ie selling additional goods, receiving items or triggering events. I have no interest in finding out who was the king of which particular gloomy castle or which monster used to be a particular tragic figure. I'll concede that it's competently done, but I feel like I can read the same level of po-faced fantasy in any number of RPGs or books. I really only play the Souls games -and most games generally- for the gameplay, striking visuals, atmosphere and fun factor.

So yeah, disposable nonsense for me.
no, your post dismissed the story and lore almost as something non-existent, with no development whatsoever, which is what I quoted and what remains wrong. now if you don't care about it, in this or any other game, your loss, your choice etc.
also decontextualizing the main plot like that wouldn't make any sense and you'll hardly find the whole package that this series delivers (lore and stories included, yes) in books or other rpgs.

Verendus works at Sony.

I asked this in the other thread, to the great displeasure of some. So I'll ask it here instead: Any word on the total number of bosses? It seems the only ones listed on wikis are the six that FROM has publicly shown off many times before.

Are we going to get a early impressions thread? I don't want to accidentally stumble upon spoilers in this thread.

So shinn gave me the go ahead to share what this weapon is.

It's called the gun spear, and it shoots a spread like a shotgun. It can be acquired in the first 5 to 8 hours of the game, depending of course on the speed of the player.

I know the entire game is visually inspired by the tower of latria, but is there any areas like it's prison tower etc? Gargoyles?

This is a fun thread. I wish in occasions like this they would just release the game instead of letting a handful of people release a stream of spoilers for the next 2 weeks.

Especially with digital distribution...

Although, supposedly there's a day one patch coming so maybe that isn't primed and ready just yet?

The problem with your post is that you're dismissing a different form of narrative as nonsense because it's not your traditional/typical one. The Souls series uses a more elusive and subtle way to build their worlds (like the Metroid Prime series or Team Ico games) and the mood of the game, which becomes the narrative itself. There's nothing nonsensical about it, it's just different.

No of course it isn't. The people playing right now can't play online, until someone proves they are playing online, and the chalice-dungeon isn't gonna be available until release and they would want to tweak that until release.
The team would have to be prepared to address any problems/glitches arising as they come and i don't believe they want to take that task on right now because of some few people.

I think stuff like that will be in the OT. Once the OT goes up this thread will probably just be used for story/lore stuff.

OTs go up on launch day now so by that time there will be no reason to read early impressions. I think the trailer thread will probably have to suffice as the non-spoiler hype vacuum thread, and spoilers, from general impressions to the final boss fight, will go here.

Putting lore in item descriptions is kind of nonsensical when there's no way the player-character should know the information given in those descriptions. It's not like there's a flawed wiki entry literally scraped onto each sword, shield or item of clothing. It'd make more sense if items just told their story through their visuals and placement in the environment, which is what they already do for the most part anyway.

I love everything else about Souls narrative and world presentation, though, but this item description stuff is archaic. It makes sense for like a table-top game but not a Souls game where everything else is presented without words, but with meaning.

We do have other people discussing lore and stuff hours on end for the people who wanna dive in. Bonfiresidechat has been pretty great listening to people who are more or less competent at the game and spend lots of time discussing more of the story elements for every area of the souls games. They aggregate and make summaries of what the community as a whole has found out about the game and talk about their opinions on them.

I would recommend anyone who is going through the souls games for the first time to listen to them, they are good with spoilers for future areas so you can listen to them as you play.

Damn, zero experience with the souls games... you're gonna get a good ass whoopin', in a good way... if you're into masochism.

Oh I always go straight for the highest difficulty and end up dying a lot. Masochist is my middle name!

I remember when they said the game would be less difficult, so it could appeal to a wider audience. I wonder how Miyazaki feels about being a liar. Does he feel good about living his life that way?

He's been lying to people about Souls' difficulty ever since he began pitching Demon's.

Maybe Souls fans are just psychopaths. In which case, I wonder how they feel about living their life that way. Does it make them feel good to live their life that way?

I'm sure it does, and I'm sure many love it, but I care for neither the (obviously ample) content nor the presentation (I didn't like the storytelling method in Metroid Prime either, despite it also being a great series), and if I'm going to be called out for publicly not liking the thing that other people like, then I'm really not interested.

Well he did say he wanted to make a kids game or something after dark souls

Maybe this is secretly cookie and cream 2!?

The games aren't that hard lol. Standard FPS/TPS on higher difficulties are way harder, because they're less fair.

Any idea what the sword/scythe trick weapon scales with yet? I took a look on a wiki and it didn't have any info. All I really want is to know what starting class to pick and what to build toward in anticipation.

They should really release it early since people are already playing it Ok it's never going to happen, I'm delusional lol...but ten more days, this is hell.

What happens when you hit the PS button and go to the home screen? Does it not pause then?
No. The game has no pause it just auto saves constantly. closing with ps button will put you were ever last auto save was. In the past games opening the inventory triggers an auto save but i don't know how it works currently.

Nobody ever said that though, despite what the internet would have you believe.
