Bluepoint Games working hard on next game: Reveal coming “when the time is right”

Demon-Souls.jpg

PlayStation Studios has already unveiled various games in development in its teams, but many are still unknown, such as that of Bluepoint Games . The team, which recently remade Demon’s Souls, is hiring new staff as it continues to work “hard” on its project . However, it is not yet time for an announcement.

Peter Dalton , Head of Technology at Bluepoint Games, commented on the recent layoffs at Microsoft (but not only) and wrote via Twitter: ” Sad to hear about all of the layoffs in tech today. Here at bluepoint games we are hard at work on our next project and have several openings. Personally very interested in all rendering programmers out there. If interested we would love to hear from you.”

Furthermore, in a second tweet, Dalton replied to a user who asked when we will be able to find out what Bluepoint Games is working on . He precisely wrote: [We will reveal the game] when the time is right. All good things take time.”

Bluepoint definitely has a lot of talent, but I’m not sure if I trust them developing something on the scale and importance of Bloodborne 2 from the ground up especially if Miyazaki isn’t around to oversee or direct it. Now I think they would do good on a Bloodborne remake. I also feel they are capable of making a really good original game so hopefully we’ll see or hear about what they are working on soon.

I remember a previous leak saying they were at least doing new content (but not new IP) for a small projet. I always thought it was Demon's souls lost archstone. We could call it Demon's souls 2.

A no brainer would be Bloodborne remade using Demon's souls engine.

It would be day one for both ot those for me!

They said they were working on original content for their next game. This unique thing to say suggests to many that they were working on DLC or a sequel to an existing IP. Likely Bloodborne or Demon's Souls. If it were DLC, they probably would have announced it by now. So I wouldn't be surprised if it were Demon's Souls 2.

They also are rumored to be working on a remaster or remake of a beloved series. Some believe this might be Metal Gear Solid, but it could just as easily be Bloodborne. I think given the lack of a Bloodborne patch, they might be holding off on this one for cross-media.

I think it's going to be a sequel to a well known IP. They stated they wanted to create original contents, at the same time having a successful template as the starting point would probably make them far more comfortable. In any case can't wait to know more.

I'm hoping it's a new IP rather than another remake.
Hoping it's a Bloodborne remake. God, that game would be so good with Bluepoint's updated visuals, plus a solid 30/60 fps.
Since they announced that got acquired by Sony they mentioned that weren't working on remasters or remakes, but instead on 'original content'. The wording is important, because they also mention always 'next project' instead of 'next game' and never said 'new IP' or 'our new game'.

That wording leads to think they are working in existing IPs but with some other studio taking the lead of the game: so they are codeveloping a game or developing DLC. As they did in GoWR.

Sony also said that want to see their PS Studios working more often with each other in their games, something we saw in Horizon CoM or GoWR. So I'd bet they are codeveloping in a support role some existing Sony IP. And since that requires more frequent communication than a remake, I'd bet than with an American studio due to timezones.

So I'd bet they are supporting/ codeveloping the next -no new IP- game from Naughty Dog, Santa Monica, Sucker Punch or Insomniac. In fact, several of the Bluepoint staff previously worked on these other studios.

I have a feeling they are making Demon's Souls 2. I still think is too early for a full Boodborne Remake, a nice Remaster would be enough for that game. DeS Remake came out 11 years after the original game, that would make a potential Bloodborne Remake a good candidate for a possible 2027 launch game for PS6, following similar time scale as DeS Remake.

It’s going to be Bloodborne 2 with Miyazaki as a special consultant. We won’t really know the extent of his involvement.

Omg, bluepoint is working on a new game....who would thought that a video game developer works on a new video game which will be announced when is ready to be announced.. That's so unexpected. Glad we have Neogaf to bring this to our attention.

People on video game forum excited by the prospect of a great developer hinting towards revealing new game, hard to believe i know

Good to know, I had assumed they were not working on a new game, but that if they were they would be uninterested in the timing of the reveal.

Miyazaki handing the keys to Bloodborne over to these bozos would be a massive mistake.
Miyazaki does not own Bloodborne. It 100% belongs to Sony. They can do remakes or even a sequel if they want to. But yes It could be a mistake from Sony if they ask Bluepoint to direct Bloodborne 2 (and it gets poor scores).

This is why I think they'll ask them to work on a smaller project first, like Demon's Souls last archstone. Then if they are up to the job (depending of that game metacritic scores I am afraid) they could ask them to do BB2.

I think the developers would be delighted to work on some big projects of this quality, but the ball is on Sony's court.

i've heard of a studio doing a remake referred to as a 'developer'. i've never heard of one referred to as an 'author'...
Author, developer, creator, worker, porter... different names for the same thing: the people who made it. But yes, it isn't common to use 'author' when talking about remakes.

no. an 'author' is a writer. not a programmer, or a graphics designer, or a system designer, or a level designer, or any of the many other specific specialists that go into making a game. game 'authors' create &/or write the game's story/script. &, considering the fact that demon's souls already arrived with a story/script, 'author' is about the last word i'd think of regarding bluepoint's involvement with the game...

Writer is one of the definitions for that word. The other one is 'An author is the person who originated or gave existence to anything and whose authorship determines responsibility for what was created.' according to wikipedia, or "one that originates or creates something" according to dictionaries.

So the the authors of a game/remake/port are their creators, the devs.
