I just mean visually his films always look ace but narrtively a lot of them struggle

Hey now. Snyder is better than Kurtzman and Goyer. He has real talent. He just needs a co-director, producer, or scriptwriter with enough clout to go "No. Don't do that." His issue is in the excess and bombast, not the ability. The other two have just failed upward.

TFA also had the built in hype of finally being a sequel to the original trilogy. They can't replicate that kind of hype and anticipation.
If Bruce Timm has a say, the legs will be wrapped around Batman.

I finally saw a Dunkirk trailer when I went and watched Wonder Woman. The trailer I watched was just awful, and if the rest of them are like that one, the lack of buzz makes a lot of sense to me. Whoever put that thing together should have been roasted.

Before Titanic, no film had made more than $360M in their initial run. A New Hope was at $460M thanks to the 1997 special edition re-release, but E.T. and Jurassic Park were the only films to break $350M in one go. Titanic made $600M.
Before Titanic, Jurassic Park held the worldwide record at just shy of $925M. Titanic doubled that.
Well, the biggest problem might be that his producing partner is also his life partner. I'm happy for them, and it worked out for Nolan, but he could definitely do with working with another creative with lots of experience who can help him improve his craft. Especially in the polish. The ideas are great, the execution is hit or miss.

Honestly though, I hate Snyderverse action. Or rather, super-on-super action in the Snyderverse. I never really understood why so many people liked the fights in Man of Steel, because it was all just weightless ping-ponging.
I feel like $750m is a safe bet, low $800s optimistically. It won't pass TFA just because three films into the Star Wars revival I don't see it getting the insane repeat business, but America still loves its Star Wars.

I've watched Basic Instinct 2: Risk Addiction, and I will say that nothing about that movie aged well. Nothing.
And now I'm reminded of the rumors that Sharon Stone might end up playing Janet Van Dyne.
Those aren't my feelings on Snyder...I actually enjoyed Man of Steel and 300.

Man of Steel was uneven with some strong moments. 300 was based on a fairly rigid narrative template - Frank Miller's comics - that Snyder followed slavishly.
His best work overall remains Dawn of the Dead in my opinion. Sucker Punch is a testament to his problem being his excesses.
