Was that real? Did someone really intended to rename Ami as "Blue"? :lol
And why so much spoilers? Revealing that Usagi is the Moon Princes is a big fucking spoiler, because almost the whole season was about finding the princess.

It was a tape sent to TV stations to try to get them to buy episodes of the show, hence them hyping up Sailor Moon as some behemoth that slayed both Power Rangers and TMNT. I have to imagine the uber localized names were an attempt to make the more conservative channels less against the idea. Things like spoilers, and stuff don't really matter outside of providing context to the series for the channel.

Thanks for the explanation. I thought it was a commercial shown publicly on TV announcing that you will be able to watch this awesome better-than-Power-Rangers-and-TNMT show on that TV channel. Thus, when they were talking about profit, I was wondering why would anyone (kids especially) be interested in that kind of info :P

But still, "Blue"? They couldn't think of any other generic but normal sounding name?

Amy, for example

If you put a gun to my head and made me localize Michiru, I'd say Michelle is a great choice, but 'Amara'? Huh?

Heather, sure.

So you all saw the best episode of PGSM ever made, yes?

Did anyone LIKE the American version for what it was worth...I watched the Japanese one as a kid and it was so serious. Even though the American one was chopped up it was entertaining and the music was better :o

As for the whole "Blue" rename ... I dunno. The original test market dub for Dragon Ball had Goku renamed "Xero" (Zero), as well as Korin becoming "Whiskers the wonder cat". Shit's weird man.

I could have sworn her English dub name was "Amy." But I agree, if they were going to originally name her something that was descriptive about her character, they could have gone with "Useless."

Oh c'mon, why so much hate for poor Mercury? At least she was smart and had that awesome computer and googles. :<

They wanted a name where you couldn't tell if she was a boy or a girl (because if she had a girl's name people might pick up on her lesbianism and complain that she was being a lesbian on children's TV, and if they gave her a sex change and a boy's name, a different group of people might complain that they tried to hide a lesbian by giving her a sex change and a boy's name), but they didn't want to make it obvious that they were trying to dodge the sexual orientation issue by giving her a unisex name like Pat.

They already tried the sex change route with Zoisite, and seemed to be satisfied with the result, but Zoisite made a pretty convincing woman, and while Haruka dressed in men's clothing, Sailor Uranus dressed like a girl, so there were also crossdressing issues to try and confuse.

So the motives behind the name were absolutely terrible, but the name itself met their goals.

All I want to see is what Jupiter and Mars look like. Don't even need to watch the show, just curious. I'll have to tell my sister about this.

Michiru didn't strike me as the most loyal girl on the planet, but that's another story.

(She was flirting up a storm with Seiya.)

With his seniority & reputation he should be working exclusively on original material from here on out, not directing a remake of the thing he made his name with 15+ years ago; you know, revolutionizing the world or some shit...

Except this is a new series, so they could do worse.

Rewatched this episode today and I had forgotten about this. Michiru seemed to be fishing for information though. The opening scene of this episode is great too.

I also rewatched the first episode with Chibimoon...

Unless they finally give him the creative freedom he wanted.

Oh shit, I am fucked. It was a long time ago man, I was confused and stuff.
The only things I'd give you a hard time about are excuses and denial.

Count me in as another one who hopes the new series will lead to a re-translated, re-mastered blu-ray of the original 5 seasons and movies in America.

I suppose they had a hard time explaining (or dodging) Sailor Stars then :lol Because you either end up with them being lesbians (Seiya was openly flirting with Usagi) or cross-dressers or transgenders.

Yes! I was so psyched when I heard about this. My sisters and I loved Sailor Moon , we all had a favorite scout as kids, and I kinda never grew out of it. I'm excited that this version is supposed to follow the manga more closely than the original. I wonder if this means we'll get to see Crystal Tokyo.

Also I know my Comic Con 2013 costume!

That is a rumor. Nothing has been confirmed except 2 voice actors.

Also AAAH, I can't wait a whole year...

New Sailor Moon next year huh? Time to make demands!!!

Time for that English Redub we know is coming from Funimation.

3DS version of Another Story.

CyberConnect2 fighting game. Every anime gets one now.

26 Episode Ami Series. She's best senshi. HOLD DAT SHIT!!!

Series 2 of PGSM...HELL YEAH!!!

I really seriously thought after nothing happened to celebrate the 20th year of the Manga that nothing would happen at all but this is beyond awesome. Should be real interesting to watch what develops from this.
