So I just picked up a cheap 2ds off craigslist for this, will get soon. I'm usually old school and prefer each character have his/her own set gear, I see in this you can equip any weapon on any class, will this have any drawbacks or is it do as you please?

How's the 3d also?

This game is exactly what I'm been hoping it would so far. The AR card opening was neat, and everything from the music to the graphics, with 3D on is beautiful. Can't wait to start unlocking jobs. Got to the point where I can rebuild the town and I managed to get 13 people plus the 20 from the demo.

The 3D is pretty cool, especially in towns, it really gives it a more unique look with depth. Honestly though I just turn it on for a few seconds to look at it then turn it off, I hate 3D modes in general, especially on the 3DS when you have to hold it a certain distance at a certain angle..

I'm loving this game so far. One thing that kinda bothered me was the whole job thing.
I like that their is a big selections in jobs but when you see a boss it's like oh well now I get his job .... it's a weird way of obtaining new jobs. Couldn't they just have you earn them buy doing certain stuff like for a monk help a monk with a quest.

No drawback, but benefits are given to classes that excel in use of different types of equips.

When do you guys decide to switch jobs? I unlocked monk and white Mage but im still a lvl 4 freelancer. In the demo I'd switch once I had maxed the jobs but those were capped at lvl 4.

Job levels cap out at 14, so switch ASAP.

I have always felt weird about adding people as "friends" when they are just random forum posters. It's a dilemma for me, since it would be neat to have some here.

So far, the only thing that initially disappointed me about this game is the hidden items scattered around. I was never a fan of rustling around in random furniture, plants, barrels, etc to find a potion or money. Why the hell would there be potion or money in a plant? The saving grace here is that the game prompts you with the "(A) examine" on-screen when you are near a hidden item, so I don't have to hammer on the button comstantly.

I was really enjoying this game, until I got to the first save point out of town and then... Buy SP Drinks with your real money (or you can wait 8 hours of leaving your 3DS in sleep mode w/ the game running to get one)!

What in all the shits!? Pay-to-Win microtransactions in what everyone keeps hailing as one of the best old-school RPGs in years? I cannot be more disappointed in Square Enix

Ignore it. Consider the drinks to be cheat codes for those who suck at the game. I'm going to use the ones I generate just for fun. So unless you are one of those people who get pissed that other people are typing "idkfa" in Doom or using the white Tanooki suit in Mario Land, it means nothing to you.

Hard is surprisingly very balanced; glad I chose it from the get-go.

I did a quick web search before playing to see if hard was viable. Apparently, the game get nuts later on with bosses that will one-shot you. I'll save hard for my second play through.

Oh God I just woke up super early, so I could go and level-up a tad, before doing a side event. I am currently running around plowing through mobs while getting that sweet XP. This game, guys. It nails it. All of it.

Also, I have no wifi connection available in my home, so I use the wifi dongle by Nintendo when I want to download something only. That thing is too tricky otherwise. T_T

No, you have to streetpass someone with the game or demo, or update data via the save menu.

Don't know if I should be mad at Amazon or Lasership (probably the latter.) I pre-ordered the game back in December through Amazon for the CE. I get an email stating that Amazon shipped the game to Lasership or something like that yet when I go Lasership's website it says that the item was not received by sender. I ended up emailing Amazon and their representative told me that the game wasn't received by them or something or that they were trying to delay my shipment and take their time to get it to me by the 11th which makes no sense. They ended up giving me a $10 promotional credit towards any purchase from Amazon but, I could hardly care about that... I just hope I get my game is all =(.

Initial impressions after an hour and a half last night: this game is great! I love the art, I love the music, the gameplay is right up my alley and the adjustable battle speed and encounter rate should be standard fare in every rpg from here on out until forever.

This might be the best turn based DS rpg since DQIX!

gotta say, I'm super into micromanaging unlocks, the village will be the death of me. Thank god I did the 20 villager glitch on the demo to transfer them over, nearly done unlocking every shop (2 left to get to) after the first night. It seems like outside of streetpasses, you can get a few villages for free everyday when you "Update" when you go to save


edit: funny thing about unlocking so much, I can afford nothing T.T (still in the prologue lol)

I'm curious about this as well.

It serves its purpose without being anything earth-shattering. Early on it's like a modern FF3 (the actual 3, not VI), modern in that it has more sophisticated dialogue and character development but it nonetheless follows a classic town/dungeon/boss/repeat approach as your characters work to achieve a goal, unsurprisingly based around awakening crystals, set early on in the game. Later on

things twist, everything gets a bit meta and it rather becomes its own thing without ever quite becoming a truly gripping story

When does the timer reset? I did it yesterday and it worked but I tried again at midnight and this morning and it says I've already done it for the day and I didn't get anyone both times.

When you have used a friend attack, they have to "send" a new attack and you have to update data again to recieve their new attack. Also, you'll waste it if you use it and you get wiped out from a battle. It doesn't come back until they resend it.

Edit: Uh... I'm not 100% sure about that they have to send it again, but I think I recall it's that way. I rarely use them.

No, they're just DLC bosses. Your villagers are safe.

Chapter 1 now, hard is still too hard without using ablink or friend summons because you barely deal enough damage to enemies and enemies can kill your party members easily in one turn. Probably the only viable way to go around this without grinding a lot of levels is stacking the job that does the most damage at this stage and just go all out offensive.

Maybe I should forget about playing hard.

Bravely Default is an amazing game, wow! I picked the game yesterday on my way home, got home around 8pm, had a quick bite and shower and started Bravely Default. I stopped playing at 6 am, had a quick nap and at 8am I was back in the game lol. Best thing since Lost Odyssey, I need game like that for my WiiU
