So I have to start watching the news in Portuguese for my Language 400 class, and I was wondering if there was a good, reputable, online source for watching BR News?

LMAO globo is terrible.

But do we even have a moderately good news portal?

They're almost all gossips and tits. Even the economy sections - oh, let's check the exchange rat-oh great, a proeminent Femen gallery showed up.
(Valor is sfw, of course)

Well its the bigger source we have, and as bad as it is with the focus on media substars or whatever, it has full implementation of videos and such, and thats what Corvo asked.

Surprised to see so many countrymen too. Already knew more famous people here like Brazil, but it's great to see so many people too.

I'm from Salvador, btw.

Except for the Folha Tec section. You get all kinds of celebrity gossip, best phrases of the week and all that crap because hey, if you said something stupid on Twitter it must be tech news because Twitter is tech, right?

That reminds me Terra, but I didnt go to Folha tec section much

Have you people been ordering things from outside the country lately, and if so how long is it taking to clear customs?

Also, hello my Minas Gerais brethren, uai.

I always make it a point to order anything I really want/need by early October. Chances of things being ridiculously delayed, lost or taxed shoot up because of Christmas. If possible, I wouldn't order anything until Carnaval is over, either.

Thanks :D I suppose you like Jojo's Bizarre Adventure? Good taste!

So even though Globo's infamy is known even to me, it was still better than what I had been doing: finding clips on Youtube. But I'll check Folha out, too. My professor wants us to use non-mainstream outlets for whatever reason.

Really bites that this school doesn't have a more fully fledged Portuguese program, though. I've been hitting up a tutor here on campus, but it's hard to not have frequent practice in the language.

Eu nunca entendi esse tal de "HUEHUEHUE," pois aonde eu morava os jovens digitiam o risado "KKKKKK."

"KKKKKK."

"kkkk", "rs" ou "risos" are for the internet noobs. Real internet BR proz uses "HUEHUE".

But really, "kkkk" isn't something I saw back then when I played online games were you talked by typing. And since only brazilians used "hue" (as opposed to "haha" ou lol and shit), it became a trademark of sorts.

To be fair, I've never seen anyone laughing with "HUEHUEHUE" unless it's for making a joke on the BRBRHUE stereotype. There are a lot of different regional and age differences in laughter, some of them make no sense at all.

I myself laugh with "HUAHUHAUHEUAHEUAHUEHAE" when among my friends, but I hold back outside Brazil to not sound like a freak.

edit: oh dear I just read it again and spotted a "HUE" in there lol

Surely this MMO's name didn't start with the letter T. Right? RIGHT?

This is the best source for what you need: http://tvcultura.cmais.com.br/jornaldacultura

I also didn't know this thread, nice to see so many brazilians here.

Thanks! I'll look into that one as well.

To be fair as a 20 year old American the majority of my young Brazilian friends were teenagers, so I was simultaneously hip and not hip. I knew a bunch of adults, too, but rarely did I find people my age while I was there.

See, it's just odd cuz I never heard anyone laugh that way while I was in Brazil. Maybe the region I was in (Goias, Triangulo Mineiro) just didn't laugh that way.

Hahaha, when I was a kid my big sister played Tibia and had these experiences with Brazilians. When I lived in Brazil I thought it was funny that kids were still playing it.

Of course! Jojo is awesome!

A friend of mine uses "OEUHGOAGHHAEOGHAEOUEHOUHEAOUGH", I always laugh with this, it's so bizarre.

I tend to avoid typing laughs because I always think they are awkward.

It's an unconscious thing!

Riii~ght.

Also, on the Diablo forums I frequented (OLD/LegitsBR/whatever name came after), "hue" was a thing too, and well used in game by brazilians - but people were too busy cursing the koreans and their "potal pls" to bother with some "hue" (I'm talking v1.04 era here, later things changed and BRs began to annoy everyone there too).

Kids these days mash the keyboard and call that a laugh. See them anime event communities on facebook. Damn.

And I'd like to raise a toast to JoJo's too!

Nice to find that people like Jojo. only few friends of mine really like it :p

Just in case you confusing something: This way of laughter is only used when typing. Nobody really laughs like that here.

What is the best way to get to Buzios from Galeao airport? I'm going on a tour in Brazil end of November, but I arrive late so I have to catch them in Buzios.

So in the thread about the PS4 price someone posted a Wall of Shame for this thread - and I realized I haven't posted here ONCE. Shame on me.

Oi, pessoal! ^_^

ETA: Who's going to BGS this weekend?

HI folks. Representing Curitiba-PR.
I have nothing to say now but I'll confess a secret here since others spoke on the subject. I played Tibia to exhaustion.

Sadly, we all played Tibia.

But it was kind of fun, considering I played (This, Gunz and MU) on custom servers that would level up people really fast and give overpowered stuff early for shits and giggles.

You know, despite its shortcomings, I liked the concept behind Tibia. At least, the world itself was moved by players, and I think that's an aspect that most MMOs nowadays are moving away from.

I never played tibia either. I played two weeks of Mu and so I realized this MMO thing wasn`t for me. I was considering playing Final Fantasy XIV, though.
