Ugh, never got the appeal of Tibia. It looked awful. Had lots of friends who played it though, they tried to force me into playing it but I never did. :X

I played Mu and Ragnarok though. lol Kinda shameful, but I have to say I enjoyed Ragnarok a lot, it was really fun and its mechanics were cool, it got annoying in the official servers though, because of some of those insufferable users, so after a year or so I stopped playing it (and honestly I dont think I've played any other MMO since then, at least not for that long).

It's hard to say what made it so interesting. I think the fact the game was pretty deep and accessible (you could run it on a Win 98!) made it so popular.

I never understood the appeal of playing on unofficial servers. It always felt like a waste, since... it wasn't official! But I suppose if you only wanted to play, it was good enough.

I had a high level novice (not super novice) in the oficial server =P

PlayDead was the most overpowered skill in that game

I've never played the likes of Mu, Tibia, etc. But I did play Gunbound. Shoot me.

Gunbound brought one of the most amazing news ever: When the guy placed 1st on the leaderboards was kidnapped. Anybody here remember that? At the time, selling MMOs accounts was very profitable (specially with Tibia) so I think the kidnappers wanted the poor guy's account.

hmmm while there are probably vans in the airport itself, I would say your best bet is to take a frescão (big blue bus), they park close to the exit, then you can get off at the Rodoviaria, which will for sure have some bus to Buzios.

Don't take a cab, they will scam you to hell and back if they realize you are not from Rio.

Hello huehue gaffers

I have a question. Next monday i'm going to the american embassy to be interviewed.
I'm trying to get an american visa. I want to travel to new york next year to buy my U$399 playstation 4. Or a high end video card.

I'm single.
I don't have any properties or cars.
I've been working as a public servant (servidor público?) for 6 years.

My bonds to brazil are my job, my mother and my cats. What are my chances? :D

This is the exchange I've heard from acquaintances.

Interviewer: "so what are you going to do in the States?"

you: "I'm going to go shopping and buy everything on my sight".

interviewer: "ok, approved".

ok they might have exaggerated, so I wouldn't recommend saying that literally, but chances are good.

Don't worry. Public job = auto approval

Try not to shake like a closet terrorist, state what you want to do and be on your way. I don't see why you'd be denied. In any case, good luck.

The "interview" is really short. They make a few (like, three tops I think) questions and check some things in their PC.

When you think about all the documents you have to carry with you to the embassy...

But yeah, just act normally and don't imply you are going to the US to stay.

Felt the need to share this with you. I was rather amused when I obtained this guy:

Exactly this. Just came back from the embassy.
Now i feel silly for being worried. I was afraid of having spent 160 dollars for nothing.
New york, here i go.

Tibia was the demon's souls of MMOs. It was unforgiving. It was hard. You had to be skilled and well prepared to survive. The game was full of misteries that later we found out was unfinished quests.

I loved that game back in 2007. Now it's too noob friendly.

Nice to hear! I got my visa denied twice in 2006 and 2007 and never tried again (fuck those payed-only-on-citibank taxes).
People say getting a visa nowadays is less strict than back then, tho, so I might try again next year. And trim my beard a little. Never helps to show up at an american embassy like this:

Thick 'brows included.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if they tried to make some inside joke and still managed to confuse aztecs with Brasil.

Huehuecoyotl is a real aztec deity, tho. To think that the "huehue" existed so long before Tibia!
:)

One thing I liked about Tibia was seeing people cry after dying and losing their gear. I never came to find a MMO that was as tense as Tibia.

I did (second time).

How did you do? Surely you didn't write about instant noodles

IDK. I checked an not official result fr the first day (Humanas e da Natureza), and I did OK on Humanas (36/45), but bad on Naturais (22/45), and it was way harder than last time.
I believe I did great on Math and ok on Language. And no I didn't
but how I wanted to
. Actually, NeoGAF kinda helped me, because of this topic.

Anyway, I could not stop laughing about nanokid, onça fluida (It`s the official translation for fl oz, but it`s really funny), and this:

Also, the people who make the test have some serious issues against Internet. Every single text about it was saying bad things.

I think writing in Portuguese would alienate the people who are reading the thread and are curious/jealous about our rich culture and beautiful people. Also, we would end up in a competition to see who butchers Portuguese the most.

No need for competition, I've already won.

Por que vocês escrevem em inglês aqui? No OT de outros países, os usuários escrevem em idioma nativo:

I wouldn't go to those threads even if I was interested in their countries because I can't understand anything in there. We're more like Brazil OT and not Portuguese OT. Now, if we make a Portuguese OT, it's a different story. Like the japanese learning threads or something.

So I've been listening to some funk carioca (or similar music) and really enjoy the music. Any recommendations? Is this music still really popular in Brasil?

@WeaponKnight

Because I already received 3 PMs about my bad english and I need to do more training =P

How about some Funk Paulistano ? =D

Still ridiculously popular, but have been mixing with eletronic and other crap in the mainstream places

I'll keep posting in english on this topic, thank you.

It's very popular. But it's love it or hate it... and a lot of people you see on the internet will probably hate it.

Maybe its a demographics type thing? Isn't the music associated with demographics many Brazilian Gaffers aren't a part of? Hip-Hop was widely considered garbage by most Americans and a love it or hate it thing until the past six years or so. Maybe this is something similar.
