Breaking Bad - Season 4 - Sundays on AMC

I'm not, I don't think BB is they kind of show that can end on a cliffhanger. I fully expect closure at the end. I think it's a given that there will be a massive cliffhanger at the midseason break. Perhaps the first half of the season Hank will slowly suspect Walt more and more and at the end of episode 8 he confronts him.

I also think Walt will be alive by the end of season 5. He will obviously be a shadow of season 1 Walt. I wouldn't be suprised to see Walt Jr, Skyler (hopefully), Hank and Jessie all dead.

Final scene will be him looking at his empire and starting to cough.

I thought Season 4 end would've been the perfect end to the show.

Skyler's turning into Carmela Soprano and accepting her ex-husband's "business"

Walt getting rid of everyone who is after him.

Hank's lead is dead with the super lab burning down.

Jesse back on his side.

Walt pretty much on top of things.

Walt isn't evil enough yet. He'll be responsible for one of the more sympathetic characters deaths in the final season - I guarantee it

Either Saul (highly likely), Hank (very likely), Jesse (likely) or Skyler/Walter Jr. (unlikely)

Walt needs to suffer more. I want blood in season 5.

I can't wait to see what the writing staff comes up with.

I didn't really get that impression from the S4 finale, though. If anything, between her reaction to Walt's "I am the one who knocks" speech and her horror at Walt blowing up part of a nursing home leads me to think that she's really not going to be too accepting of things in S5.

Ugh. I don't see why there's such a huge gap between season 5's two halves. If they're going to air them a year apart, they might as well make it two seasons. The only reason I can think of is possible contract issues. Perhaps the cast is only signed for 5 seasons, and AMC doesn't want to pony up the cash to renew contracts for another year. A clever work around, to be sure.

I also remember hearing a few months ago that all 16 episodes would film back to back. If what Anna Gunn says is true, that would mean a year long break in the middle of the filming of a single season. Is there a precedent for that?

Also, it's possible that she's is wrong and AMC will deny this news.

Edit: Also, this

is amazing!

Ridiculous, but expected. I guess I'm not watching any Breaking Bad this year. Might as well wait until next year and watch all 16 episodes with no break. It sucks that AMC is dragging the last season out so they can get the ratings for one more year.

It's all about the ratings and ad money. Splitting the season across two years means they'll have Breaking Bad viewers for another year and they can keep the show's advertisers for another year, too.

I get that. What I'm wondering is why they're splitting season 5 in half. Why not just do a season 5 & 6 instead of season 5 part 1 and season 5 part 2? Either way, they're still getting the ratings and the ad money. The only reason that I can think of has to do with contracts needing renegotiated. They might not want to pay the cast/crew for an extra season and all that comes with it; more money per episode and stuff like that.

AMC has had a lot of contract negotiations go sour in the past, so perhaps this is just them trying to bypass some of that. Contract writers/actors/etc. for 5 seasons, but then make each season twice as long. You can then make each half of a single season into a mini season, so you're basically getting two seasons in one. They're doing that with The Walking Dead, both this season and next, so I wouldn't be surprised if it became a "thing" for AMC. (Mad Men, The Killing and Hell on Wheels aren't doing this in their upcoming seasons, to be fair)/speculation

The only other benefit that I can think of for splitting the season in two would be not having to wait a year in between episodes, but that doesn't seem to be the case here.

Dammnit! It better not be a year wait between the season. Hopefully June and January or somethin. Gah, this sucks.

Except BB's ratings have always been very shitty. I think what they really want is the extra year of Emmy wins.

Loser slave of the system :(
When did they set last year's premiere date? I remember they were shooting in mid-January last year if I'm not mistaken. Here's hoping for a mid-July premiere.

This show is the sickest

The ending to season 4 in my mind should be left at that

Still interested to see what they do with season 5

Walt ended up being such a bad man

Really? season 4 leaves so much open. Sure, walt's become pretty much fully bad, but we don't know where that will take him now. Plus his cancer seemed to be coming back, plus we don't know how the cartel will react, plus Hank is still curious about everything, plus skyler is still confused and working the car wash...etc.

season 5 is gonna be so dark and intense, the build up to it is immense... season 4 end was the point of no return for walt, there's plenty of story left to tell.
