I doubt it at this point. If those games fail, SIE will probably just push Day 1 PC support for all of their games, do another round of price increases for hardware & PS+, and give us a remaster of a remaster of Horizon Forbidden West & LEGO Horizon.

At this point they seem full-steam ahead on having a fewer number of big Hollywood-style AAA that by their nature will probably end up forcing Day 1 Steam to make up for continued GAAS failures, and get less 3P exclusives as well. So basically expect the same as what it's already been the past year or so, but halve the 3P exclusives, increase prices by 20% and get ready for the Steam logo in all game trailers for Day 1 releases.

That seems to be the only means Totoki & others at Sony Corp & SIE are viewing PlayStation these days, very sadly.
So they’re willing to kill their console business just like Microsoft is doing in front of them.

Oh yeah, some of that XDEV America staff that worked on Concord is definitely going away...

It was, but realistically, everyone ignored that and went with $400M in total rather than just $400M development only. $400M for just development is just stupid, like really fucking stupid.
Yeh, but including the purchase of the studio in that figure is a bit disingenuous. Is that the total cost of the failure, perhaps, but normally the cost of the studio isn't factored because 'normally' that studio would go on to develop more games.

I think there is much more to this behind the scenes, possibly that Sony wanted them to change it and they were being stubborn and didn't want to change the character designs etc (studios don't like doing that as it affects their vision of the game). Dig your heels in with something costing this much is not a good idea though. (This is purely just guesswork, and being a wee bit cynical on my part, heck, Sony could have found a money laundering scheme behind it if that cost 200 million)

Probably the only smart decision Sony made regarding Concord. Trying to salvage it as a F2P title would've wasted even more money on a game that was never gonna recover.

I wouldn't be surprised if the order came straight from Japan frankly. I read a rumor that said Ghost of Yotei was supposed to be Ghost of Tsushima 2 with Jin returning as the protag but Sucker Punch hired a bunch of woke women writers in 2022-2023 who decided to change the game to have a woman lead and supposedly Sony Japan was very upset by this, seeing as how Concord failed miserably. No idea if any of it is true or not but if it is then it wouldn't surprise me.

What are the news for the Amazon TV show? Is it still planned?
The show debuts in a little over a month so it's way too late to make any significant changes. It'll air as planned but there will probably be a black screen with white text that acknowledges the studio and/or game's closure.

Fire herman. If the man had any ounce of dignity and pride, he would fall on his sword and resign.

But thats not how greedy corporate cucks work. he will absolve himself of all responsibility despite wasting $200 million on a game even gaffers knew would fail.

I think he openly pushed for this project, so yes, he was certainly a big factor in signing this deal. Hes bad news, I hope he gets the boot.

The part that Ghost of Tsushima 2 was suposed to have Jin is true, but seems to be taken from old info about the game and alot of stuff changes during development. Ghost of Yotei is 300 years after the 1st game so it could never had Jin, clear a entirelly new game direction instead of a direct game sequel. The protagonist could be whatever.

Haven is next? Bend will get closed with their crap gaas too. What will be of sony studios in 5 years? SSM, ND, SP, Guerrilla, Asobi Studios and Polyphony? 1 game released per 2 years? They are totally fucked.
They can't close all of them because they do need a pipeline for the reason you stated. Some will be given a 1up, others wont. Firewalk, that was a catastrophe against what all other catastrophes will be judged.
Effing fantastic use of a Police Academy gif.
