Because of the situation - long distance relationship.

It's not that we hate each other or anything, it's definitely not like that. We'd stay together were she not going away for school this year, but what there's one thing that we're not sure about...

On MSN, or the phone, we can't say "I love you" or anything right..? Because, it would be weird not doing so, because we still love each other...how do you handle this kind of situation? Anyone know what I'm saying?

Until one of us finds someone else, I sorta don't think this problem will go away.

In all seriousness, with great distance between you, unless its only temporary (and by temporary I mean short-term, not a year plus), you almost always end up having to move on with your life. As silly and obvious as it may sound, the number one predictor for love and compatibility is proximity. If you don't have someone around it's simply not practical to be in a relationship with them. Keep in touch, but break the chains if you can..gently.

Thanks :) But what I was asking is...immediately after she leaves should we still say "I love you" and stuff, all the things you do because you're a couple, y'know?

We figure we will and as you said Ned, things will fall into place.

I'm pragmatic about that kind of stuff. Should you still say "I love you"? Do you plan to stay committed to her? If so, then yes. Otherwise, come up with some other parting phrase.."Peace out", perhaps..

For sure man. We did that for first year of Uni. To clarify, we're breaking up this year. Why?

Well basically, we figure we can live our own lives to the fullest as we won't have any obligations to each other as we normally would if we were going out (i.e. emailing each other and so on). So this way, we can just be more free...

So we want to break up in that sense...sorta like taking a break, but we can see other people if it comes up too...

Just confused, sorry guys.

3 years. Me, Los Angeles, then to Seattle. Her, Red Deer, then to Calgary.
We're still together and have long term plans. We meet about 3 times a year for about 2-3 months worth. It's possible and it WILL be worth the effort when it's all over.
