Yep. Definitely coming. Not in USA, but I'm sure that announcement is coming.
It's not like PC's haven't been affected. Long gone are the days when you could get really good cheap parts for the PC .One of the reasons I don't own a "current" gen console, by the time you could really walk in in any store and impulse buy, it had gone up in price.
Hopefully sony doesn't but if this is tarriff related I fully expect them to follow suit.XSX at $599.99 is CRAZY considering the PS5 Pro exists.
Imagine how much their steambox is gonna cost.
They are giving up. They know their future is as a 3rd party publisher.
AFAIK Sony hasn't increased their price in the US at all. This also helps Switch 2 by making everyone hypocrites who blamed it. I also own a XSX so my consoles just got more valuable. If Sony don't raise their prices in the US, this is the nail in the coffin on the series consoles. Wow, it feels good to see this day. Microshaft finally coming home to roost. All because they want to make the trade war look bad and because Nadalla refuses to eat 100 dollars per console sold when they aren't selling any consoles, instead of waiting it out a few more days. This is lunacy and I'm here for it. Goood on you microshaft. I think your next console should cost a million since gamepass is just so good.

Hey gamepass fans, wanna talk more about how much of a banger gamepass has been in 2025?
Tarrifs aren't causing the price increase in games.Tarrifs are doing this, since Xbox and controllers are all made in China
Not impossible, unless they're still making PS5s in the japan factory.
Everyone has been hinting on that, even Larian's manager, the increasing dev costs in a stagnated population market + inflation YoY worldwide being higher than usual thanks to the pandemic.Tarrifs aren't causing the price increase in games.
I think asking more than £70 a game is going to do more hurt than good and put many kids off AAA console gaming.I'm not okay with any of the platform holders when they raise software prices, no matter who did it first (Sony, Nintendo, or MS). I edited the post out since it's not fair to just single out one platform holder when evidently they are all doing it.
Fantastic news, finally factoring in the cost of quality and publisher excellence to the RRP, about time. Well done MS!![]()

For those thinking its all about dropping out the console market, it is entirely on tariffs.
It's crazy that MS, the 2nd richest company in the world, can't eat 100 dollars per unit on failing hardware that isn't selling that much while Sony, a much, much, much smaller company hasn't even changed their price yet in the US.Hopefully sony doesn't but if this is tarriff related I fully expect them to follow suit.
If you think they'll foot 140% tariffs alone, that's on youNo it isn't. It's greed and Microsoft deciding to stop subsidizing console sales losses. They've been raising prices elsewhere for a few years now. "Tariffs" gives them a convenient umbrella to duck under when they raise prices in their largest market.
Tariffs have nothing to do with the increase in the price of games.
They're footing part of it, the Main Street doesn't know what to do because they rely on chinese products that aren't exempt. If it was tariffs wouldn't the increases be much more? Tariff on China is like 145% for this kinda stuff isn't it?
If they are made somewhere else, then the tariff is only 10%.
Anyway, this is why I want a Switch 2 at launch.

CRAZY.
But it can't be all down to just Tariffs, though. Everything is going up and costing more these days, other than Petrol Mind you, I'll be very happy to see far less stuff made in China and move back to manufacturing consoles in Japan, Mexico Singapore rather than the sweatshop shit we get from China and the less we deal with the CCP, the betterFor those thinking its all about dropping out the console market, it is entirely on tariffs. No company will take these taxes are foot the bill alone, by this senseless hike they are still footing part of the bill. If the hardware was making nothing or loss, it is now making a massive loss.
Americans are now paying more import taxes than brazilians on chinese products, I had one supplier who was doing a major wholesale sales on figures calling off any deal to ship to US because these products are made in China.
Xbox consoles are controllers are all made in China, while Switches for American market are made in Vietnam, the PS5 are vastly made or entirely made in China because I only know about the launch units having a few made in Japan as they did with the launch models of PS3 and PS4.

If you've forgotten that most electronics and electronic components were exempted from the reciprocal tariffs back on April 12 and want to keep licking the boot of greed, that's on you.
You're quite insaneFantastic news, finally factoring in the cost of quality and publisher excellence to the RRP, about time. Well done MS!![]()

Ain't no way they are footing it. A 140% increase of 299 would be an extra 418 dollars. But they only raised the price to 379. They aren't eating an extra loss of about 340 dollars every series s. If they managed to sell 1 million consoles that would be an over 300 million loss. And that isn't even factoring in the margins for retailers etc. It would be more profitable to just not sell the consoles at that point. They're footing part of it, the Main Street doesn't know what to do because they rely on chinese products that aren't exempt.
That didn't apply to game consoles. If you've forgotten that most electronics and electronic components were exempted from the reciprocal tariffs back on April 12 and want to keep licking the boot of greed, that's on you.
That's why i've said they are partially footing it, because companies are expecting some deal to happen before the worst case scenario.Ain't no way they are footing it. If Sony doesn't follow suit before GTA6 releases, it will be the end of the xbox brand as an option in retail...
I think they will follow suit. They are very exposed on this retarded tariff policy. Same as most other gaming HW businesses. If Sony doesn't follow suit before GTA6 releases, it will be the end of the xbox brand as an option in retail...
