I wasn't paying attention until Farage said get rid of the anthem. Took a second to realise he wasn't talking about our dirge. That "our Independence Day" bullshit is gonna be everywhere for ages isn't it :/

I don't know much about British politics, but when I see a borough like with demographics like this:

37.9% White British
1.9% White Irish
0.1% White Gypsy or Irish Traveller
11.5% Other White
0.9% White & Black Caribbean
0.7% White & Black African
1.3% White & Asian
1.2% Other Mixed
19% Indian
5.4% Pakistani
0.9% Bangladeshi
0.9% Chinese
8.2% Other Asian
4.2% Black African
1.3% Black Caribbean
1% Other Black
1.4% Arab

Only vote by 51-49 to stay in the EU, I gotta imagine you're all leaving. :/

Not everyone has British citizenship, which is needed to vote for this.

Well thats frightening. A lot of people in this country are going to get fucked over in the coming years because of this. Struggling to see how this is worth it.

Okay BritGAF, what happens from here? What have you done to the world exactly? Honest question I'm not too familiar with Brexit

To the world? Not too much.

To themselves? Well, imagine that scene with the Joker and the pencil. Only the guy does it to himself.

I'm genuinely curious how many people that voted 'leave' only did so out of fear of immigrants vs economic reasons

The immigration issues I've heard discussed are not solely about fear of immigrants.

I have friends who work in the building trade who are concerned about the effects uncontrolled immigration is having on depressing wages and limiting the availability of training posts which would have normally went to British youth.

The fact that arrogant Remain campaigners (as evidenced by the hysterical nonsense parroted by those on here) try to paint concerns over immigration to be simply racism and fear of 'brown people' shows how far out of touch they are with the concerns of many people in the real world.

'Biggest uprising since Peasants Revolt in 1381'
Our chief political correspondent Christopher Hope puts the referendum into historical context.

The 2016 EU referendum is set to the biggest uprising against the people who run the UK since the Peasants Revolt in 1381.

Britain's bosses, politicians, church leaders, sports stars, bankers, economists and celebrities told the people to vote to Remain in the UK.

And (by the look of it now) the people sent back a massive V sign. Democracy indeed.

This is a pretty interesting political piece of history to be watching.

Scotland was one of the most beautiful countries I had the pleasure to travel yet. Proud you guys did the right thing and hopefully you can abandon the sinking ship :)

Please do not let me serve on a jury. I am actually a crazy person.
It makes sense (if you are an idiot who will burn your house down to "fix" something). They hate immigrants. Immigrants come to progressive countries for economic opportunity. If you burn your economy to the ground it makes your country a lot less enticing to immigrants. Thus problem solved!

Well, UK at least has a 1.9 birth rate, so rejecting immigrants is not AS stupid as when Japan does it, for instance.
I think the main reasoning for the leave vote is the general unhappiness with the current situation, which UKIP and allies steered against immigrants and the EU, which really have to do jack shit with it all.

There was some poll around highlighting the massive disconnect between support to immigrants, perceived and real - the average percentage of their taxes going to "benefits to immigrants" was 12% perceived, 0.03% real. (Not sure on the exact numbers, but it was three orders of magnitude)

It appears we're set to be in the economic shitter for quite a while now. No timeline or details as to what trade deals will be formed, loss of scientific research funding and collaborative projects, and handing over important issues such as workers and human rights over to a conservative majority (that won't bite us in the arse at all) And this will pretty much be an end to the UK, due to Scotland overwhelmingly voting to remain.

And for what exactly? Due to fear of the scary immigrants, when most come from outside the EU and are net contributors to the economy. Complaining about it being undemocratic, with MEPs that we elect, but have no problem at all closer to home with an unelected upper house and monarchy. The sad thing is a lot of people that have voted for this will have little to no knowledge on these issues and the consequences that will soon follow. Hurray for ignorance and intolerance.

Watch what happens to the U.K. now. That'll be proof enough that voters can't be trusted with decision like this. They aren't informed and educated about the issues and vote from a position of ignorance. They don't care about people's lives outside of their own bubble. It's staggering how much this situation has in common with Trump's rise, only the U.S. is very very unlikely to elect him as opposed to the huge mistake the U.K. just made.

Or proof they can.

Leave has run an appalling dishonest and scaremongering campaign, but lets be honest here, Remain has been no slouch in the scare tactics stakes.

The notion that the 5th largest economy in the world is doomed just because it leaves the EU is by no means a forgone conclusion.

Probably can expect Scotland and co who voted majority remain will be thinking of how to stay in the EU. Which can mean leaving the 'United Kingdom'.

My money is in England but I live in America. I was literally waiting for this vote before moving my money over to the US to buy a car

yeah it would suck if you were caught in a transition, like selling a house in the UK after relocating but not yet converted. However for people in the UK a big sterling drop just makes european holidays more expensive and imported goods start climbing in price. On the other hand I bet over-priced london residential property will tank so its good if you've been shut out of the property market.
