But we have trump and the uk does have a history of hostility towards the US.

We have no idea who they are either
Trump will not win.

In fact, he single-handedly succeeded in destroying the Republican party.

This is why we need to come out in November and shovel the dirt on the grave.

Jesus Britain. Condolences. This is going to make your racist right wingers very bloody bold if nothing else. I just can't understand the rationale for leaving. Good luck all.
Yep, it's going to be a shitshow. I am genuinely disgusted with the country to be honest (well I say the country but not Scotland and mainly England). If I could live somewhere else I would.
It's as I've always thought - who will the bigots of Britain vote for? And we have many, many bigoted braindead tosspots in dear old, backward looking Blighty.

Come to Canada, things are slowly getting better over here!

Hah, I'm American. That was just some gallows humor for our British friends. But in all seriousness, I do fear a rightwing surge in that country. Going to be interesting comparing the 2 countries come the end of the year...

In all seriousness as I said above about Trident what the fuck happens to you with that now England?

Scotland are going to get rid of it. Are you guys going to take it and pay for it?

This sure makes the Scottish Independence Referendum look different now, since Scotland and Northern Ireland both overwhelmingly voted to remain in the EU.

I'm guessing the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is headed for dissolution in the next 5 years? Scotland will leave the UK and attempt to re-enter the EU as an independent country? And Northern Ireland will leave the UK and reunite with the rest of Ireland?

I should go watch the movie Doomsday again.

Can we all at least agree that David Cameron should resign?

I think we can agree on that.
He will have zero credibility, given he went all in on Remain. I can see him sticking around to shepherd the country to some sort of temporary status quo while this clusterfuck starts to get addressed, but no longer.

I think we can agree on that.

Yep, but not necessarily immediately. His options seem to be:

- Resign tomorrow and call a new election
- Resign tomorrow and cause yet more instability in the financial markets
- Keep on and form a team to perform severance negotiations with the EU (he will not be able to negotiate it but will lead to see it through and resign later).

So.... Bets on the next country to leave the EU now that there's a precedent?

My money's on France.

Lmao what?

First of all, no country will leave before it is clear how this plays out. And all signs are pointing towards the UK economy crashing hard, and the beginning of the worst economic crisis in the UK for decades. Also, the UK might even cease to exist, because Scotland and Northern Ireland will probably leave the UK. So why do you think that anyone would want to follow this example?

Second, France is extremely pro EU. They will not leave the EU. This whole situation will also make the EU much stronger than before.

That feel when your area is Leave 69.5% Remain 30.5%..

less then 100 to declare.. Leave looks like it's got it. I wonder if the Scots will decide to hold another referendum to split from England, as they seemed to want to stay in the EU.

Yep we will, because it's highly unlikely England and Wales will get out of the EU without offering Scotland another referendum, otherwise the Scotland act which set up the Scottish parliament will delay Brexit by a generation.

I think we can agree on that.

If he has any self respect he should resign. That said, I think he should wait before stepping down to make sure he has at least stabilised the situation imo.

Yep, but not necessarily immediately. His options seem to be:

- Resign tomorrow and cause yet more instability in the financial markets
- Keep on and form a team to perform severance negotiations with the EU (he will not be able to negotiate it but will lead to see it through and resign later).

I don't know if he has the mandate to do the negotiations himself. He should resign and call elections and let the new parliament manage negotiations.

I mean who makes actual money. There has to be some sort of money angle right? This isn't just about reducing immigration driven by right wing great is it?

Well there is money to be made in the long run as all of these pesky EU regulations regarding consumer and workplace rights can be thrown out.

I live in Texas, and my fellow Texans mulled seceding from the Union, yet that measure never made it to a ballot. UK not only got it on a ballot, they voted to secede! Cheerio you brave chaps! Best of Luck!

The Pound went down hard.
The Europe futures went down hard.

Double whammy to people with (eu) stocks in these currencies, especially the UK folks.

Such strategic decision planning has no place in a democracy. Seriously Cameron has been a terrible PM, he's winged it from one issue to another often playing to the choir but there was never a great plan.
