lol, well there is this one map I played with gafbros that was bloody impossible to hack. It was literally placed in the middle with no cover from behind or the sides. I think you were playing too, your steam name is the same.

If it was last night with Tre, Blizzard, and Crooked Rain, then yeah. I kept trying to place mines there lol. Eventually snuck around and screwed with one of the other command posts.

I guess i'll be an Engineer/Soldier. And eventually switch to light body.

EDIT: You guys think adding rapid fire to a revolver would pay off?

Just beat all the campaign missions online and got the achievement for it :) the game
Is a blast when it works like it's supposed too. Played a few 5v5 and that works really well (360) hopefully they get the campaign versus patched and less lag filled.

I still find it's best to find a place away from the entrances when you're hacking. If you make it harder for an entering defender to find you, you'll reap a longer hack. Also, finding a good vantage point is useful for knowing when you have to put away the hacker and fight back. A slower hack is definitely worth avoiding the long respawn walk back to the objective.

The game is really janky in many ways but the more I play it the more I like it. It really comes to life when you unlock the abilities and play with as few bots as possible.

In what little experience I have with the revolver, I'd say probably not. There's a lot of kick. So ADS doesn't seem very effective with it. Unless you plan to hipfire, I find the Tokmav(?) a much better rapid fire pistol. Decent ADS too, with little kick.

Just got out of a game with a bunch of gaffers.

So, voicechat is glitched, it's not that no one is using their mics? That explains that, but fuckin christ, it's ridiculous.

I have a 10 man vent server we can use in the mean time. It's not enough to support 2 teams, but it's better than nothing.

Also, some of these goddamn maps have broken choke points. Escort missions can just STOP and you spend 10 minutes moving a dude 2 feet. Also quite ridiculous.

I really want to like this game. I really do. But they're making it really fucking hard.

I won't spam the thread to keep asking this but I figured this would be my best chance to get Brink owners eyes on this.

Is anyone willing to sell me a PC Doom 1 DLC code? I'm trying to repay a debt. I'd be offering about $5 dollars via Paypal or another arrangement if needed (Steam gifting, what have you.)

Classic's Vent server is listed in the Steam group page, by the way.

It was a fun couple of matches, but damn that last escort mission was a bitch.

Oh yes. 15 minutes getting killed in the same spot, not moving forward at all!

There's a mumble server. It's the best. :3

Gamespot didn't review it, they're just pulling down scores from other places.

The game is great, but LAG WILL KILL THE COMMUNITY! Wired or wireless it doesn't matter, most of the matches are laggy as hell. I've had lag so bad that the match gets stuck on a frame. They really need to fix it.

Alright, so I took the advice of others and tried Competition and WOW, so many great games. Just went on a stretch of about 10 games straight with absolutely no lag, except for when the host would quit. Best part about all of it was finally playing with people who had mics. We grouped up and stayed together for every match and damn, was it fun.

Really enjoying the hell out of this game, especially since I'm rarely having any lag. I'm also finding 5 vs 5 to be a lot more competitive, and a lot more enjoyable for most of these maps. Really glad I tried that advice, because it's so much better than searching via campaign, and there is absolutely zero bots. The game is so much better when it's strictly player vs player, and no bot substitution when someone drops.

Just loving the hell out of this game right now. If anyone wants to try and get some games in later let me know. I just hopped off now to get something to eat, but I'll gladly get back on to team-up with some people.

Had one great game followed by about 5 unplayable ones. They really need to get this straightened out, since the game is extremely fun otherwise. :\

Also, has any other game done what this is with the 360 mic? I thought it was just some guy in a match that was making me hear stuff through it, but I see in the options you can toggle so the radio chatter comes out through both the TV and your mic, just the tv, or just the mic.

Played more today on my ancient PC (new one comes tomorrow omg omg omg omg), and after turning off shadows and getting a huge FPS boost, I had a blast. I'm totally for this game.

Much better night on the 360 in terms of lag. Played for several hours with no lag, but stayed pretty much in the same rooms so I didn't jump around.

I sort of regret almost leveling up the Engineer -- they're just too common now. Soldiers and Operatives are more rare it seems.

I see someone already posted about the showmatches on thebrink.tv. Should hopefully be a glimpse into what competitive Brink might look like.

I saw a little live-streaming yesterday and goddamn, some people have turned sliding on one's arse into an artform with that game. Really should make for terrific viewing.

In related news...it's downloading right now from Steam. Looking forward to some Brinkage.

Not surprised, Engineers are amazing on defense with the mines, turrets, and being the only ones that can remove the charges and hack bots.

I've been running with an operative/medic split, I'm finding it hard to get a lot done with the operative right now, I wish that spike grenade stayed all over the floor so I could use it to atleast know if an enemy is passing by an area(unless they walk over it slow). The disguise has been working well and I hack turrets a lot, but being the only class that can't give out team buffs makes me feel like I'm not actually contributing much. Medic is super fun for me, though.

Really? One of the archetypes I was wanting to play around with was a dedicated light soldier - maybe I should do that instead of the Engie/Soldier hybrid I'm leaning towards. Do you see a lot of medics out there too?

If there's any advantage to having to wait to play this game, it's getting to hear this kind of feedback before committing to an upgrade path.

Uh...you're not "locked" into a class. Furthermore you can respec your abilities. Furtherly furthermore, there's more than enough points to get abilities in multiple classes if you pick the wheat from the chaff.

Really liking Container City more and more as I play. Possibly my favorite map.

I just hope everyone doesnt just vote for that map all the time. Its pretty cool, but its nice to have variety.

EDIT: Yeah its probably best to spread out points into certain skills you like, so you can take on any class that your team is lacking.

I've seen quite a few operatives, but I definitely agree with Soldiers being rare. Whenever I check a Capture Point, or the Scoreboard, I rarely see anyone playing as Soldier. Which sucks, because Kevlar and Ammo refill are so key during matches. In the stretch of games I played earlier where it was 5 vs 5, I did not see one Soldier. Forced me to switch my class, which sucked because I have not leveled Soldier at all with this particular character.

Good point, I forgot about ReSpec'ing. What is the cost of doing it again?

You go down a level.

I got the game today and put about two and a half hours into it. It's really fun. Container City is my favorite map at the moment.

Classic, should we have just the mumble server on the Steam page, so we don't end up splitting players?
I'm still ok with people coming into the vent, but mumble could hold 2 teams worth of dudes. I'm down to use both, either way. Whatever's most convenient. Need to hit up Vertopci so we can get a Brink room in the mumble server too.
