never left the stone age
But she also wants Britain to have tariff-free access to EU markets.

She says she wants a customs agreement with the EU. That could mean partial membership of the customs union. How this happens in practice can be decided, she says.

I am sure this is exactly how the EU will see the issue.

She is talking like she is in a position of power: this is insane.

It's kind of cute how they've deluded themselves into thinking they have any kind of bargaining power over the fucking EU. I

I am truly sorry for those of you who were sane enough to vote Remain

I really, really want to know what is going to happen to the British automotive industry once the button is pushed.

This is this generations thatcher. Any slither of industry left outside of London is going to disappear.

Most of the country are completely and utterly fucked and they voted for it. They literally are the first cows leading the way to a slaughter. Complete and utter morons.

The one time I support some shitposting from elected officials on Twitter

Theresa May promises sunshine, lollipops and rainbows everywhere. Doesn't seem to understand that the EU won't allow single market access without any concessions whatsoever.

It's insane that she's talking like the UK has some power over the EU. The EU holds literally all the cards, she has nothing to negotiate with.

Wait...What? What is she saying?

She started by talking about clarity, but now she is saying that we need keep some things secret.

Also note how quick she moved on from that point.

Here's an advanced look into British negotiations with its new friends in thee future:

-We would like to set out a new trade deal with (COUNTRY)
+Okay, first let's talk about relaxing those visa requirements
-Uhhhhhhh

For those who aren't aware how important this is - India just said exactly this during the last visit.

Ironically, allowing immigration is now one of the few cards we have. Which is why tech companies are so eager to double-down in London.

by not making a good deal with their closest partner the EU?

ahahahahahah

UK will make a trading deal with the EU of course, just not as good as the single market. It means they'll have to look for stronger and/or better deals with other partners to make up for that loss.

They might not emerge with a stronger economy overall immediately but they'll try to lessen the initial blow brexit. On the other hand, they'll get what they wanted : more control on their borders and laws.

Jaguar / Land Rover employ a huge number of people here (West Midlands). I know Sunderland has Nissan manufacturing. Not sure how many employees Lotus / Rolls Royce / Bentley has these days.

The manufacturers will take advantage of the crappy pound, double down on design in the UK and make the cars in Slovakia?

Aye. Did she just say 'yeah, the government will be as transparent as we deem fit'? :/

This will take forever, though. A trade deal takes years and the UK needs many of them.

It's half German. Might be a positive.

so in other words BMW may just decide to make Minis for UK only and not export them anywhere else

Goddamn I still don't have the uprated clutch I need ordered... Fucking brexit, i hope I can still order it in a couple of months from the UK without paying toll for it :(

So, uh, does the electorate not care that you need visas to live and work in the EU without a free movement agreement? So no retiring in Spain anymore, old people.
I would assume not or that they likely wont just be able to pop on a plane or train to Belgium or France for the weekend.

Non-existent.

Large part of the voting public is single-minded on an exaggerated immigration 'treat'
Yeah, I get this. Thing is, they live in the shite areas, they have the shite jobs and its easy to say its somebody else's fault if you're clamoring for their votes. I've also seen the sentiment echoed that why does someone on minimum wage care if the 'elites' are fucked over by this.

I mean, it's a gross misunderstanding of the way the world works but shit they don't know any better, they've been failed. We let them be failed and mucked about because it didn't impact us but now it is and we're beholden to seeing the benefits of proper electoral communication, proper education and actually caring and being sympathetic to the views of poor(er) people in society before it gets this bad again.

Is she fucking serious ?

EU members who don't offer good deals to UK are doing calamitous self harm and not acting as friends ?

What the hell is she smoking, this can't be real.

Her argument is that causing pain to us, is causing pain to the EU as well, so the time has come to man up and accept that free trade works for all...

How is your parliament going to vote on the Brexit deal when Article 50 will already have been triggered at the point (so you know the UK can negotiate with the EU) and is, as things currently stand, irreversible?
