Bungie doesn’t get enough credit for the way they reveal their games / expansions...

I'm no fan of Destiny 2, but this is a masterclass in communicating with players. All big developers should consider applying this format to their larger games.

Yeah this expansion revels was really good. Solid concept, fun sounding activities, and following it up with "hey we fucked up, here's fixes we're working on and ones coming after that" is nice.

Shame the update that dropped today is kinda ass though. But Renegades looks good so far and hopefully they can deliver on it.

Come on guys, help the cause.
Its been a long day for me and i still have 2 flights to go but was presented well. I like the old school vidocs, which I don't think they've done in a while.

Plus I kinda have a weird thing for the enthusiastic autistic chick, she seems nice. Always a plus.

That was the best video ever.

In the video, the guy on the left with the moustache was actually really chill. Answered questions best he could with a smile.

That guy above from the first second to the end was like he was at a 60 minute funeral. After he did his apology speech and answered some questions in the first 20 minutes, I think he zipped it the rest of the show.

He looked like a slimmer miserable version of hockey player Phil Kessel. The exact way he looked when he played on the Leafs 10 years ago and always got grilled by the media.

I got to go check the old vidocs. There was definitely a kindergarten teacher talking to her class vibe in this one.

Why do you do this to yourself, my man. Anything Bungie or GaaS gets blown to bits here. That said, I've always thought Bungie is among the better studios that communicates with its community. They're awful a lot of times, but there's a lot of times they pull through that doesn't get recognition. Latest Vidoc is great, miles better than Edge of Fate.

"One of the better?"

Can you name me a studio or two that communicates better?

Exactly.

Bungie is ass at communication. Marathon has been a shit show.
The best part of the Marathon plagiarism debacle is Bungie claiming the entire time it was done one one rogue employee who doesnt work at the company anymore. Somehow one single mystery guy was able to convince an entire studio his handmade art and visual style was so good it became the game itself.

And the art director guy (and other Bungie people) who also subbed to that artist who got ripped off had no idea the art came from that profile for 5 years.

Even when they did that video, the moustache guy said they'd "give more updates next week". Yet turns out they didnt say another word for over a month. And all they said I believe was the game was getting delayed.

They couldnt even get the timing right of their next communication.

Not a lot of GaaS games nowadays, but Blizzard has those regular campfire chats thing, with PTS testing before their seasons, something that Destiny doesn't do. With Bungie sometimes I feel they have very regular communications but half of the time it feels one way. They used to be way more active with live feedback before folks started throwing death threats and doxing the devs.

If ever there was a reveal thread that didn't require a dupe, it was this one. Congrats Men_in_Boxes Men_in_Boxes we are all looking at you!

Anyway your perceived quality of the reveal doesn't really make up for the fact that the new seasonal release today is a complete disaster and they haven't delivered on any "we hear yous" from 3 months ago :messenger_tears_of_joy:

They don't put the effort like they used to…

Single-player reveals of new games are a different thing from updates to.ongoing products though. If you can render an epic trailer, particularly without having to resort to showing action from any of the limited viewpoints of a player camera, you have it much easier than those who have to sell you on gameplay improvements and fixes

...BTW, that trailer contains approximately 0.00% Halo 3 content, correct? Still looked cool though.

This is Bungie. It's always the same old song and dance. They royally screw up. Refuse to say anything til the sound is deafening. Drop a state of Destiny, or in this case a video and everyone eats it up. Rinse and repeat.

Highest IQ individual in the room, ladies and gentlemen.
Ask yourself what percentage of real world PvP players know about the Antireal story.

Now ask yourself what percentage of those players actually care about the story enough for it to impact purchase decisions.

That story was a tree falling in the woods and only the rage baiters were around to hear it...or so they insist.

Whoever cared or brought up how the stolen art issue would change sales? Only you.

The rest of us are just laughing at Bungie and the hilarious video they did about it. The same one which they also had audio issues because they couldnt figure out how to do a 3 person online call properly. Great communication.

Given how lousy the game's beta reception was and how few players played it, Bungie should care because they need as much help as possible for online player count. The beta test had hardly anyone playing and after day one the player count dropped like a rock as the game stunk.

The most important percentage. The percentage that watch dev diaries and suck developers dicks too on Twitter. The percentage that sets the narrative online.

Didn't marathon get delayed after all?

They're so used to communicating about problems because they make so many of them. Every other Destiny release is to address foundational problems with the prior release that completely fucked the game.

So "debacle" was an oversell? Usually schadenfreude is connected to real world harm/suffering...and not just a narrative people made up.

Unfinished Alpha had issues. A truly earth shattering discovery.

This aint like 20 years ago.

Do you understand what debacle means?

You do know that the game used stolen art from 5 years ago, got laughed and grilled, had to do a formal apology the next day, is redoing the art and delayed the game right?

Darn, if only Fortnite, Roblox, and Minecraft could get these ultra important taste makers attention.

Because that's how multi-player has always worked, right?

Not sure. I'll have to check.

Do you?

Google: a sudden and ignominious failure; a fiasco.
"the economic debacle that became known as the Great Depression"

I wonder why Google used the Great Depression as an example and not something that had no impact?

Do you think it was delayed because it would take 300 Bungie developers another 6 months to find the 5 art assets from Antireal?

Merrium Webster:

The Origin of Debacle Is French

If you need an icebreaker in some social setting, why not recount the history of debacle? After all, when it was first used in English, debacle referred to the literal breaking up of ice (such as the kind that occurs in a river after a long, cold winter), as well as to the rush of ice or water that follows such an event. Eventually, it was also used to mean "a violent, destructive flood." If that's not enough to make some fast friends, you could let loose the fact that debacle comes from the French noun débâcle, which in turn comes from the verb débâcler, meaning "to clear, unbolt, or unbar." You might then add, to your listeners' grateful appreciation, that these uses led naturally to such meanings as "a breaking up," "collapse," and finally the familiar "disaster" and "fiasco." We can feel the silence thawing already.

2 to 1. This is better than any Pokémon card game I played at 12 years old.

Edit: Marathon and Bungie didn't collapse (your AI definition) after the story. They delt with it quickly and moved on faster than the "B***h eating crackers meme is my spirit animal" types did
