Burnout Paradise 2 for next gen? [Criterion asks what you want in it]

I don't know why people are saying this. It's possible to have both an open world and "proper" (closed) tracks.
I was a QA tester on Burnout Revenge so played it for literally hundreds of hours without getting bored, and I was already a big fan of the series before that.

I just didnt like the switch to open world for Paradise, and would love a sequel more in line with the previous games.

It was weird DJ Atomica and Crash FM were terrible, but in a good way. It was just goofy and it wasn't so in your face all the time that I just found it amusing and not abrassive.

Part of me wants a cockpit view, but I'm not really sure if that's necessary. If it can be done well without real sacrifices otherwise, then sure.

In truth, I loved Paradise to death, and thought the post-game support was top notch. Just give us an even bigger and more varied environment, with closed off tracks for racing events, and optional full roam, any path you want, point to point races.

And expand upon co-op free roam and challenges. Had a fucking amazing time with those.

Here is a quick list of my wants:

- Restart a race at any time with zero penalty

- Unlimited "rewind" to fix my mistakes

- An auto-driver of sorts that will pilot the car for me if I am feeling too challenged

- The ability to purchase new car designs for real world money

- Full Kinect support only, no complicated controller please

- Traffic should be removed from races, it makes it too hard

- Only 3 cars total per race, that way I can at LEAST get Third

- Skip mode, if I don't feel like completing a challenge I can just make it auto-complete and I get the reward

The above would make me a very happy camper.
I agree with all of this, plus add an option to start the race with a 10 second head start.

Don't want Paradise 2 I want Revenge 2. I guess that's never gonna happen though so Burnout might as well be dead to me.

Huge, spectacular crashes with tons of flying debris, adjustable physics and crash aftertouch (from realistic to ridiculously over the top)

Just keep NFS MW/HP shitty heavy car handling out and away from Burnout Paradise 2,bring back Paradise 1 awesome handling.

also 60fps is mandatory.

thanks in advance.

i want there to be crazy sonic the hedgehog-like loop-de-loop and corkscrew roads. i am not even joking. it would be fucking awesome.

No no no no no Criterion, don't make Paradise 2. Make Takedown 2, or Revenge 2 or hell, even Point of Impact 2. But steer clear of that free roam, open-world guff; it does not bring out the best in you. Look at Most Wanted - comparitively underwhelming compared to the godlike string of classics last gen.

Just make Takedown 2. BAM! - next-gen insta-classic.

Do an open world toggle for races. Open world on is you will play a race like Burnout Paradise. Open world off is you will play it like Burnout Revenge. When you are out of a race the free roaming continues.

Make the game the perfect mix between Burnout 3/Paradise. Oh and return the crash-cams from Burnout 3.

Oh and Criterion... About Burnout Crash: JUST. DON'T.

I agree with this. This is the type of stuff that Paradise is about, not does it make sense for a race or does it even make sense logically, but is it fun to drive? I am now going to be disappointed if Paradise 2 has no loops or corkscrews.

Burnout Paradise became a really good game once you got to really know the city an the most common routes. However this took quite a long time and is just a unnecessary barrier, because I felt it did not really add anything that warranted its drawbacks.

Just make simple, fun levels like in Takedown and Revenge. I can accept having to look at a minimap in games like GTA and WoW but it really sucks out the fun for me having to do in a racing game

The only thing I want changed:
- make the races linear with boundaries but keep the open world for just cruising around
Forz Horizon did this best. Events were within defined boundaries, but they also had *optional* point to point, choose your own route street races for extra cash. And of course, the open world was free to roam and have fun with all the time.

It's a perfect mix of open and closed racing.

Edit: And I'm starting to think I'm the only one who didn't particularly like the crash mode in any of the games. Just gimme an insane sense of speed, shortcuts, jumps, insanity and sparks and plenty of road.

Like Burnout Paradise after all the main DLC, but bring back crash mode, licensed cars, less cheaty AI (no rubber banding!) Maybe some car upgrades.

Make sure it's on Steam day 1. Get rid of this Origin shit.

What I most want is open world like just like in Burnout Paradise but have the races be like in Hot Pursuit, with barriers so you don't have to look at a map while you race.

60 frames per second on consoles.

Those would be the main things for me.

You know what, I'm going to bookmark this thread, cause when "Burnout Paradise 2" gets revealed, it's going to be the most hilarious thread of bitching for people who wanted a sequel to the game they hated.

o Proper Crash Mode (Ala Burnout 3)
o Multiple Events PER STOP LIGHT, not one at each light

These. I'd be down to have each "area" of the map have either one point for each race type, or just one or two points for all the events.

Wall online into 3 things:

1) Standard races with randomized preset track positions that are fair (ranked)
2) Custom lolrandum races with player-set track positions (unranked)
3) General fuck around / stunts / challenges fuckery playground mode.

- Bigger city with more terrain, location, and stunt variety.

- Better day/night cycle with weather added. I want to be able to see at night.

- Cars + bikes + restart events day 1.

- Point to point and circuit races should be more "sectioned off." Not only to make them more unique, but to keep the player's eye on the road instead of on the map or GPS. I get what Paradise was trying to do, but when screwing around in free roam is more fun than racing in a racing game, something went wrong.

- Online events should be more structured like Most Wanted. There were lobbies in Paradise where people just didn't do the group challenges and it was annoying.

Here's what I don't want: an open world. It's not good for Burnout. I basically want a next-gen Burnout 3. Let me for fucks sake enjoy the insane speed and don't make me look at a map constantly!

Nope. Dubstep sucks ass and it's officially over.

Has the online for MW gotten better in that regard? I had plenty of lobbies where people just flat out didn't do anything either.

Open world: I didn't like it at first, but I got used to it. I like what they did with Hot Pursuit when they closed off particular roads during events. I'd like them to go with that idea further by allowing you to use different routes. Perhaps you can map it out when the event starts.

Multiplayer challenges: I had the most fun doing challenges with people online. Go to the stadium, go on top of this bridge and jump, jump over each other, etc. Seeing a posse of cars trying to achieve the same goal is awesome.

No time trial events: I hate time trival events. I hated it in Hot Pursuit when turning random curves is always risky as a car might just get in the way. There's no need for those in Burnout; leave them in Need For Speed. I don't mind having those 'dominate this road' type challenges though since generally it's just a long strip of road.

Crash mode and takedowns: These are the staples of the Burnout franchise. Better have them.

Car customisation: Would be cool to be able to modify cars like change spoilers, engine, tires, etc.

Ugh. Fuck your billions of racing games, Criterion. Make Black 2 already.
Because there's not a billion of generic shooters out there already.

Really, Black was okay but not great. The first 2 missions were the best part and the rest was kinda 'meh'.

I'd like to see more variety in the environments. Who cares if it's one city? It's an arcade racer, it doesn't need to be hyper realistic. Jungle, snowy mountains, desert, shoreline, farmland, city, throw them all in there, and make them feel dynamic. I'm tired of every racing game taking place in bland, unimaginative environments.

Oh, and a full crash mode, please.
