Burnout Paradise 2 for next gen? [Criterion asks what you want in it]

smh @ Paradise haters. You dweebs just don't know a good thing when you see it. Best racer of the generation.

Problem with open world is that it's all the same area. Can't have multiple worldwide locations (Europe, Tokyo, etc)

Please, Burnout Takedown/Revenge 2

Less open-worldness.

I loved Burnout Paradise back in the day, but the abyss between Hot Pursuit and Most Wanted showed me that I'd much rather have non-open world racers.

Has the online for MW gotten better in that regard? I had plenty of lobbies where people just flat out didn't do anything either.

Yeah, they basically force everyone to participate now. They start a timer before each event so you can race there freely, but they'll eventually teleport anyone not there at the end of the countdown. It works WAY better than the Paradise system.

So... you want a sequel to burnout paradise to not be a sequel to burnout paradise? How does this make any sense? If its a sequel to paradise, its going to be open world. Thats pretty much a given so hoping for anything but is sort of silly.
NO MORE OPEN WORLD!
REAL CARS!
AUTOLOG MENUS AND POP-UPS EVERYWHERE!
GREEN AND RED TURTLE SHELLS!
PLAYABLE USING ROCK BAND DRUMS!

A sequel to Paradise would be amazing, because Most Wanted '12 was not what I was hoping it would be.
I just want a bigger world, more cars (maybe some customizable options visually or performance-based, but nothing that would get rid of the 'class' system for the cars), a crash mode from the previous games, and better graphics / more polish.

Yes yes yes.

Another problem with an open-world setting is that there's no sense of progression as you advance through the ranks during a campaign. Drive around for a little while and you quickly become familiar with the environment that you'll be spending the entire time racing in... where's the fun and satisfaction in that? Just becomes repetitive in nature more than anything.

Well, not that, but forcing people to do the event, or kick them out/make it not detract from the experience.

Specifically, the two part cliff jump one: people understood that you have to do part 1 to get to the cliff, but 3 people were either griefers or just didn't get it, and kept on ramming everyone who was lining up. It was 10 minutes of just getting slammed from all directions, and made it just an absolutely terrible experience.

It would had been better if they'd let people opt out.

I want high speed races in high traffic. The kind where the slightest mistake can cause a mass accident. The Dead Rising of the racing genre.

If that's the best they can do, I'll take it. It's way better than Paradise where, oftentimes, over half the lobby was across the city doing God knows what instead of even halfway participating. The 2-part 10 minute challenges in Most Wanted do tend to go on too long when people are griefing, but most of the time it's better than Paradise where people only did the stunt challenges.

-BETER CRASHES!
I want to be able to tear my car in HALF during crashes!! Be able to rap it around poles realistically (lol) too.
Basically just make the crashes even more amazing.

-BRING BACK CRASH MODE!!
Ala 2+3

-MULTIPLE CITIES!!
If you look at Burnout 3 it actually had 3 separate maps that the routes took place on. Instead of being open in that game, they were sectioned off. Honestly I prefer that method, but I wouldn't mind an open world if it had variety like multiple cities would give.
I just want more variety

Somewhat agree, I guess. The old system though had a clear host/client setup, so as host, I could easily trigger events that I know I have enough people participating in. This new one is a forced opt-in system: Everyone needs to do it. And that's where it sort of falls apart for me.

Classic burnout is just better.
It's just different. Classic Burnout is designed around racing, Paradise is designed around stunts/group challenges/exploring/messing around with bare minimal focus on racing.

That'd be cool. Imagine going to a space centre that has a ramp that flies you to the moon where you can race and do takedowns in low gravity! Slowmo takedown replays!
And this just further validates my point. The players that liked Paradise don't care much for the racing aspect of it, we just want to do crazy over the top stuff in cars.

  • Dump Autolog. Both Most Wanted and Hot Pursuit relied on having 100 Xbox Live friends to race against instead of actually, you know, making a decent number of compelling single-player races. I shouldn't show 63% complete after 9.5 hours of Most Wanted.
  • If you're going to make races have 15 checkpoints that must be hit in order to finish, don't bother with an open world. Finding the best route and outsmarting the other cars was the best part about Paradise. Most Wanted dumped all over that.
  • No cops. Jesus, no cops.

I know these are probably a pipe dream, especially the first one, but they can definitely do better than the compromised design of Most Wanted. Instead of being the best of Burnout with the best of NFS, it took the worst of both, and created a game that I was bored with after two weeks. I'm not Day One-ing a Criterion game again until it gets better.

Paradise was a fine experiment, but I want my Burnout back. I'll take two of the old tracks
over the whole of Paradise any day.
This. But the thing is, they're just talking about a new Burnout game. They're talking about a new Burnout Paradise game. So it'll be open world :(

Seriously Criterion, just give us a game just like one of the old Burnouts. The Burnout before Paradise was supposed to be awesome (never did get that on 360... should) so just do that again. Open world games are passé.

Started up Paradise again because of this and I thought of something else. That dirt bowl on Big Surf Island? It would be great if there was more stuff like that but when launching off if took you straight up so you would land back on it and continue the flow similar to while skateboarding.

Wait...Paradise has a retry option now?? How do I use it?!

Bring back the crash mode that made the game amazingly fun.
I think you press down on the d-pad. Down or left, I forget.

Yeah, I agree. Paradise was brilliant because it was so inherently different from NFS and previous Burnout games. I didn't really care that I lost a race, I just wanted to smash into other players and do crazy shit like aerial jumps and chasing wanted cars on the streets. I don't want just another racer.

No dlc exclusive areas - Big Surf Island split the field - failed to garner interest in me as there were very little challenges there.

60fps console - Criterion used to adhere to the arcade standard before drifting with the n.f.s. games ironically.

16/32 player takedown battle royale.

An actual working junkyard area with operating car crusher/wrecking ball to destory opponents or ones self.

Planes this time. Anatonov cargo ;)

Wasn't Most Wanted considered Paradise 2? lol

Anyways, I need some Burnout, I can't believe there isn't anything new in the franchise since 2008 (not counting BCrash! as it is a spin-off)

Oh, and an improved Vita port a la MW is welcome :D

This, exactly.

I wholeheartedly disagree. Burnout Paradise was one of my favorite games ever. I loved Burnout 1-3 and Revenge, and didn't like Burnout Paradise at first, but once I got the hang of it, learned the map and did the online challenges with friends I couldn't put it down.

It was like a giant skatepark, but with cars.

If they were to make another one I hope they expand on the same online co-op ideas they had for the challenges in Burnout, bring back crash mode and include the gps feature to events that they added for Most Wanted.

I also hope that they do another year of Paradise as the somewhat regular updates adding new content over the course of a year was really cool.

Big Surf Island was an interesting experiment, but mainly a failed one because it was so late in shipping. It was great that they kept on extending the game, but by the time it did come out, it was only the true fans that kept on playing the game that came back. And it showed in the design too, as the maps focus was on more stunts, more jumps, and more MP free roam experience (like the construction site and the stadium, both variation tributes to the airfield)

I don't ask for much. Bigger, badder, and meaner. Oh and 60fps please.

OH, and I can't get enough gates and billboards to smash.

First every feature you had in burnout paradise after the updates, that means adjustable day and night system, etc , bring back crash mode, bigger open world, and even more robust and customizable online mode.

Bring back Crash Mode for sure!

If it is open world... make it bigger and more varied? But an option to have races restricted to a certain path, like the good old days. Sometimes, it's good to race equally, y'know.

What's even more fun is seeing people request things the game already had, which means they are making posts without actually remembering the game correctly.

I don't want Paradise 2. Move all that to the Need For Speed side and bring back Burnout to Burnout 3. Loads of varied tracks, crazy fast cars and insane crash-junctions. Add a Crash-junction maker and let players make and share their best stuff. Enhance the Autolog stuff.

No free roam. Just give me a great set of tracks. Having every single race share one of 6 ending spots killed the last 3rd of each race for me. Nothing new happened.

This man gets it.

I just want a new Burnout Paradise, none of the extra stuff that was in NFS:MW like Police, just good fun Burnout Paradise gaming, a big city with a ton of stuff to do, jumps and stunt runs. Let me choose whatever car I want to play the game, I didn't mind doing the events over and over in a car of my choice instead of say 5 chosen events, also none of the overly competitive crap online, none of thi instant takedown nonsense.

I spent what must have been around 300 hours on BP multiplayer, I want to have that fun again, BP was easily one of my favourite games from the first few years of this generation.

EVERYTHING IN BURNOUT PARADISE INCLUDING THE DLC AND WHATEVER MORE THEY CAN DO TO MAKE THE GAME BETTER. BURNOUT PARADISE IS MY MOST PLAYED GAME THIS GENERATION. HYPEEEE!!!!!!!!!!

I FREAKING LOVE BURNOUT AND ESPECIALLY BURNOUT PARADISE.

Honestly this I just want updated graphics, but the game was everything I want in an open world arcade racer. Please no real cars as it ruins the feel of it for me and was the reason I have not gotten most wanted yet.

One change no silly camera trophy
