A ground rule for the thread should be a price must be listed.

I like this idea a lot. I always list prices including shipping inside the US.

People say 'make me an offer by PM', because they want to run their own mini-auction with the incoming offers... but auctions are for ebay. Set your price higher than you'd like if that's what you want to do.

Though... it doesn't stop people who make an agreement and then go silent and never send paypal . That's what happens to me on here sometimes. :-\

Can I get the community's help here? I'm trying to be a good buyer/seller, but I've recently engaged in a business transaction with another member here that made no mention they were in Canada, while I am in the USA. I received Paypal payment for the item and that's when it was disclosed. Using the USPS, it will cost me nearly the entire payment to ship it across the border. During communication I did mention the USPS a few times, as I was going to estimate shipping costs there.

How can I be a good, upstanding member of this board, while still recognizing that this business transaction is no longer fair for both parties? What is the best way to handle this? Thanks!

That's a lot of assumptions and generalization. But, it has happened to me once so I understand. I PMd an offer and the reply was something along the lines of "so and so offered this much more" That's where I said thank you anyway. Stuff kept getting re-listed anyway.
One of the reasons for PM an offer is to avoid the problem with listed prices. No one wants 10 replies about a price being to high the an argument ensuing.

Overall, I do think that would be a good guideline.

PM the buyer and explain that you assumed it was a within US transaction. Explain the shipping cost thing, offer a refund. I'm sure that any understanding GAF member will be all right with that.

I traded with a canadian here who was super up front about it and made the deal worthwhile. I think people should disclose where they are, as most of us just assume it's US shipping, and put this into their pricing assumptions.

I think you have 2 options:

1) Just explain to the seller and refund the Paypal payment. All fees will be refunded, so nobody will lose out on any money; OR

2) If your package is not that big, send it first class international. The price is actually cheaper than our domestic first class shipping costs. The downside is however that there is no delivery confirmation.

It's big and heavy. It'll cost me $35 to ship it.

I appreciate all the responses!

Yeah, that was a broad, sweeping assessment and likely not indicative of EVERYONE that says 'PM me an offer' I've probably said it ... but I bet I felt really weird about it!

I am looking to purchase the 360 or PS3 version of PORTAL 2 for $20

I am also looking to purchase the 360 or PS3 version of ASSASSIN'S CREED BROTHERHOOD for $20.

Whats worse is the people that don't list a price then specifically state PM them with a offer. Put a damn price on whatever you are selling. PM you a price then you never respond back either way is frustrating.

A ground rule for the thread should be a price must be listed.

Agreed.

Positive Feedback for Allan Holdsworth.

Traded a Club Nintendo code for another.
Great communication and easy to deal with.
Highly recommended. Thank you!

Before I start, if anybody could please send me a Play-Asia coupon code, it would be greatly appreciated. NOW THEN!

Things being sold are here. Items are either marked as new or are in great condition as noted. I'm among the list of sellers that have made NeoGAF Plus, which is cool. Shipping charges are included in price, I accept Paypal and cash or check by mail. PM me if you're interested:

Child of Eden for the Xbox 360
: New, boom. $30

Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence for the PS2
: Opened, this is the Standard Edition with the 2nd disc that contains the now-useless Metal Gear Online mode, the Snake vs. Ape missions, the Secret Theater and the translated versions of Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. $15

ANUBIS Zone of the Enders Special Edition for PS2
: Opened, this was the "Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance"-style rerelease for ANUBIS Zone of the Enders, known internationally as Zone of the Enders: The Second Runner. You will be getting the version that was released before it hit the Konami budget line. $25

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D
: Opened, no Club Nintendo code, this is the United States version of the game, you will get it in the European preorder-incentive gold package with the poster and the interior rupee art/ $40

Crisis Core Final Fantasy VII for the PSP
: Opened, this is the Japanese version of the game, which shouldn't be a problem considering PSP games are region-free. $15

Famicom 20th Anniversary Original Sound Tracks Vol. 3
: A music CD with soundtracks to the following Famicom games: Shin Onigashima 1 and 2, Doctor Mario, Route 16 Turbo, Atlantis no Nazo, Madoola no Tsubasa, Mighty Bomb Jack, Solomon's Key, Castlevania, Meikyu Jin Dababa, Gyruss, Zanac, and the Famicom Disc Writer. I probably got a couple names wrong, $15

Also looking for a few things, only the genuine article, no bootlegs:
The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker Soundtrack
Superman: Secret Identity trade paperback, NOT the Secret Identity Fetish Art collection >_>

I don't think it should be a "rule" - but it will most certanly generate interest in your product, even if the other person is going to haggle. I scroll past people who don't list a price as well, despite heavy interest in their wares. If I lowball, I look like a scrooge, and I certainly don't plan on going well above the "normal" rate. Why not just save us both the trouble and say up front you wany eBay prices? Offer discounts on bundles, whatever.

I agree, putting a price on a item is always more likely to get me interested. I don't think making/enforcing a rule (about always showing a price) is the way to go. Instead our posts about this issue should make it clear to sellers that the best way to generate interest around what you are selling is to give a price. Plus maybe a rememinder in the initial post might be helpful.

So I suddenly have a lot of Amazon credit and nothing to really use it on. I would however like some recent 15 dollar Steam games.

So I am looking to swap either digital 1600 MS point card or digital 20 dollar PSN card for Steam versions of From Dust.

If you are interested let me know, would be happy to send point codes or keys first.

3 Xbox 360 controllers (1 white wireless, 1 white wired, 1 black wired almost new)

1 HDMI Cable 3 meters.

Games:
Gears of War 2
Unreal Tournament 3
Prey
The Orange Box
Halo 3
Halo 3 ODST
Halo Wars
Call of Duty 2
Call of Duty 4
Call of Duty MW2
Mass Effect (downloaded from XBLM)
Mass Effect 2
Lost Odyssey
Resonance of Fate
Nier
Star Ocean 4
Eternal Sonata
Tales of Vesperia
Final Fantasy XIII
Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter

Prince of Persia
Assassins Creed
Assassins Creed II
Darksiders
Fable II
Bayonetta
Ninja Gaiden II
Fallout 3
Oblivion GOTY Edition

I don't have a clue what to ask for all this...if you have any kind of offer just shoot me a PM. Don't be afraid of lowballing, I really need to sell this stuff preferably before next semester starts

Hello,
UPDATED PRICES 8/18
Playstation 3 Slim 120 GB SOLD!

I am also selling the four disc (2 DVD 2 CD) set of Silverchair: Live from Faraway Stables $50 shipped in the US.
DSCN0919.JPG

This is a concert set from their 2003 show in Newcastle. This is an import from Australia so the DVD region code is Australia, they worked fine on my computer though. The case is in very good condition as are the discs, which were only played once.

I also have Tool: Salival two disc (1 DVD 1 CD) boxed set. The DVD in the set is fine but the CD was scratched and attempted to repair and is in rough shape. The included art book is in good condition but some of the glue holding the box together and slipcover have come a bit loose. If you're interested let me know.

Please PM me with any questions. Thanks.
I have +3 Feedback too!
