Mike Ybarra: “PS5 Pro Is A $350 Upgrade for Trade-In Users”

A friend asked if I wanted to buy his digital PS5 and I offered $250 USD for it. It's only the console, No cables or controllers, the one he has is broken or badly drifts.
He said No way.
Am I crazy or is he?

I recently borrowed this console to play Astrobot, I used my own PS5 controller to play. I thought 250 was a good offer. :(

Now I'll just have to get the Pro eventually. Pretty sure it comes with a controller.

Your offer was too high especially without a controller and cable. Those official cables are valuable because they are the proper spec and will work to the consoles full capabilities.

I would pay money to not have to go behind a Home Theater setup and unplug cables. Moving a 82" TV and stand full of equipment it's best to leave the cables where they are. :)

Yeah if it's too much work for him he should adjust the price to make up for both of those items. They are valuable and would cost roughly $100 to replace. Even used. All hdmi cables are not the same.

I mean honestly at that point when you calculate the cost of a controller (80) and a proper HDMI cable and power cable you might as well stretch a little more and get a brand new system but that's just me I guess 🤷‍♀️

Gamestop wants 479€ and my base PS5 here in Germany. 🤣

So, they give you 320€ for your PS5 and you're complaining ?
i wish GS gave that kind of trade in value over here...(it's 260 at the moment).

I sold my PS5 disc version (GOW Ragnarok Bundle sku which was 1 year old) AND a game for 320 a week+ ago to a guy and i was thankful for it and you're complaining about having a no-hassle trade-in for the same amount of money ?

Most sellers on various Ad sites are out of their goddamn mind over my part of the pond asking MINIMUM 350 for a fat PS5 disc version with no games/extra joypads, shit, there's dudes asking 400-450 just for the console alone, guess they don't really want to sell it, 'cause let me tell you, with the incoming black Friday deals for the slim they sure as shit won't be able to sell them

You do you, man. Now you have enough money to buy a brand new Series S. 😂

I'm going to sell my OG disk PS5 during the holiday season to recoup some of the cost of the Pro. Someone is going to be looking for a deal and I can certainly sell it for less than GameStop sells a used console but for more than they would give me in trade value.

I mean, you can be as ironic as you want but the point is that you thought that 320 for a PS5 fat, for a no-hassle, no questions asked trade-in is too low, correct ? Honest question : how much did you expect to get ? 400 ? We're Europeans man, we don't get the good deals like the US of A folks do ;)

Besides, I already have my Pro incoming so no need for a series S

The problem is, I obviously use my PS5 daily so I can't trade it in until after I get the Pro and transfer my stuff over. If Mike would gladly point me to the US retailer who will give me $200 for my base PS5 after the PS5 Pro launch, I'm glad to listen.

For me it is simple, the ROI is simply not there. If I pay “only” 475€ I still need to buy a disc drive that is not even available for purchase for less than 120€, how come this is a good deal?

And we are talking about a console set to live for 3 more years at best, when unavoidably PS6 comes out.

As I said, you do you.

GameStop is currently offering $265 in US without pro membership.

I was able to get $340 off Facebook marketplace yesterday. However, the longer you wait the more deals for new consoles will be going on so close to Black Friday.
