It was featured in the pages of Nintendo Power a few years ago. But yeah, it's a custom. Speaking of which, I still have the tri-wing screwdriver and the special adapter to open up Nintendo systems (works on the SNES and GC that I know of, maybe the Wii?) and even one for cartridges, which is useful if you have dead batteries. Anyone want to buy those?

Well, for those who missed it from before...

Long story short, there's an indie arcade outfit here in NYC called Babycastles with which I collaborated with over the latter part of last year. Perhaps the biggest of these events was one in which my partner from LA, who happens to run the web's premiere game culture shop (aka Attract Mode), came in to lend his talents. Details plus plenty of pictures an be found here (some might also recognize it as the event in which those wooden Pokemon that Kotaku featured a little whiles ago stemmed from), but the most important thing to know is that two of show's centerpieces are now for sale!

A full rundown of the details, including artist statements, artist bios, as well as (perhaps most importantly) all the technical specifications cab be found here. And yes, each is $1,200, which for pieces of fine (yet also quite functional) art are imho quite reasonable. Though as noted in the post, those prices are very much negotiable.
