I've made this observation before. Unfortunately it's probably too late to do anything about it since so many positive feedback points are already in the list.

Feedback for being a good buyer is welcome in my opinion. Stops troublemakers. And it helps folks like me who don't often sell something but when we do people see we are a upstanding member of the community.

There are a lot of good reasons to have positive feedback for buying things in here. But guys, I feel like between this and the trying to give someone feedback for a giveaway thing a few days ago, we're getting kind of off-topic here. If you'd like, you can PM me and we can discuss it there.

I don't really use the thread enough to make a stink about it, but it's definitely not a good idea. There's no accountability behind buying something.

For example I could buy 10 $5 games and have 10 feedback which isn't too shabby. Then I decide to have a big sell and decide to sell some of my more pricey things, like a PS3 or 360 bundle or maybe a custom gaming rig.

I don't know, just sounds like trouble to me, and it certainly isn't consistent with all the other rules.

Anyway, that's all I have to say about it, so no need for pms.

I don't know about your situation but buyer feedback is important. if one of those guys I sold games to did a chargeback and tried to get their games for free, I think people would want to know. If they paid quickly and communicated well, that's important too.

As a side note:

people seem very worried about the feedback system, but from what I've read (the b/s/t thread was one of the big reason I wanted to join gaf--people have great stuff at great prices compared to everywhere else!), rip-offs are rare. I can only think of that one guy, "red shoes" or something.

I cross check the feedback system before selling, but lets face it: if someone wants to build up positives to pull off a heist, they'll do it. And when they do, (after several chances to redeem themselves, of course...we gotta be very fair until the point of no return) their personal info will be posted on 4chan, calls to their significant others at early hours of the morning asking why they ripped me off will be made, and their local police will be notified. Maybe it won't get the stuff back, but this is the internet- their life can be messed with.

Ebay is the same way, you get positive for both buying and selling. Ive had annoying buyers whom have tried to scam me in the past, so of course they should get feedback. Havent had an issue here, but it is what it is.

Why the he'll wouldn't you? You are getting credit for sending money to someone before you receive the goods. That earns you a feedback in my opinion.

It's not given for providing a product or service though. It's given for a positive transaction where money or goods changes hands on both sides. From the seller's part, it's given for paying quickly and being good to deal with. From the buy's part, it's given for shipping quickly and packaging well and being good to deal with. Basically, everyone gets a +1 for doing their part in the transaction.

It could easily be manipulated to give yourself a positive rep on the buyer or seller side so saying that it's easier to manipulate on the buyer side is kind of ridiculous. It's just as easy to sell 10 $5 games as it is to buy them. As has been pointed out, we don't even know that the transactions that people get feedback for took place at all. You just have to trust that the system works and it has for the community for the most part.
