Hi guys,

question for ya'll. I bought a game on ebay, mana khemia 2, got it today. It wasn't the game they sent me; they sent tales of legendia (which I already have).

I filed a claim and I sent them a message saying that this is the wrong game.

The seller responded with an apology and that it must have gotten switched and they're asking for a return and will refund my money as well; they'll also look into where the game that was supposed to be shipped went to.

I looked at their profile, and they've been in business since 1997. They're not a power seller and only have 675 positive stars, 50 of which have been in the past year alone.

Should I leave a negative feedback now? It will be "sent wrong item; went to post office for a return;hassle.

should they respond, I'll follow up with:been in business since 1997, should have been more responsible.

A seller who has been in business for such a long time should have known what my item should have been. I'm also a bit apprehensive because they may have not shipped my item, and sent this one instead because I won mana khemia 2 for 30 USD; they could potentially sell it for more later on...I'll be watching them.

If they're actually willing to rectify the issue without cost on your part, they by no means deserve negative feedback.

In fact, you shouldn't leave any sort of feedback until the overall issue has been cleared up as the atmosphere can definitely change against your favor should hostility be presented.

Frankly, I'd approach the situation with neutral feedback in mind. If they go above and beyond, you can bump it up to positive. Should the opposite be true or you're forced to include eBay/PayPal in a case dispute, nothing but negative would be appropriate.

At the end of the day, these sort of problems DO occur. Yes, I agree that it's not the most professional display, but it's simply not in good taste to punish someone for trying to fix their mistake.

The Pokemon Y mistake has annoyingly made the game unavailable for in-store pickup with the 2 for $60 deal online even though I was just there (I work right next to it) and they had 4 copies.

Hori HRAP 3 (Used; Good Condition) - $75 shipped
Does not come stock with Sanwa parts; they have stock Hori parts.
Has plastic crease mark on top left. Might be able to peel back plastic or press it down. Not too familiar with the plastic layer on top of this stick. Other than that, works and looks great.

Dual Mod:

Eightarc Sapphire (Used; Good Condition) - $165 shipped
Stick is dual modded for 360/PS3 (and PC) and is one of the few sticks that comes stock with Seimetsu parts. Biggest issue with the stick is that the cord compartment door's clip is broken (included with the stick in case you want to glue it back on; as seen on last two pictures). This means the door will close but will not click shut. Some slight scuffs on stick (as pictured).

Eightarc Synthesis Fusion (Used; Good Condition) - $165 shipped
Stick is dual modded for 360/PS3 (and PC). Pretty good condition overall. Slight scuffs/scratches/cracks as pictured. Does not affect gameplay at all. Clear balltop also has cracks in it (as pictured). I do not believe you can feel the cracks as you are playing.

Well you have plenty of time to leave feedback so there is no rush, give them time to fix their mistake and then see how you feel about the transaction.

Also remember that eBay is 99% for sure going to make you pay for return shipping. It is an awful policy where buyer is penalized for seller mistake but it is what you you get for shopping on eBay. I would ask them to pay for return shipping knowing they don't have to and let their decision inform your feedback.

I'm 99% sure that you're wrong on this. Item was not as described. Buyer can just file a dispute and the seller will have to eat all of the costs. Knowing this, the seller is better off just sending the correct game and not dealing with it anymore. Bad feedback + dispute = really bad for seller.

I wish I was but I'm not. I just recently had to go through it and did quite a bit of research on the topic.

My case was he actually sent me a pirated/bootleg copy of a pokemon gba game. I initiated a claim and the only option was "Item not as described - fake or counterfeit." He immediately offered a full refund, but built into the ebay sysem it is assumed buyer pays return shipping. It even had the form all filled out for me to put in the tracking number once I've paid to ship it and once it arrives to seller I get my refund (for only the original purchase cost+ original shipping).

I made a stink about it, saying I'm not going to pay for him sending me an illegal version, and ebay customer service said that's how it works unless I want to escalate it. When I told the buyer I would escalate it and pay to ship it to ebay's facility where they destroy counterfeit verisons of things, he relented and offered to reimburse me for shipping after I've shipped it. I'm still thinking about escalating it because I don't know how I can force him to reimburse me for shipping after he's refunded the original cost.

Here is one of many places where they discuss it:
http://pages.ebay.com/help/policies/buyer-protection.html#description
http://pages.ebay.com/coverage/BuyerProtectionForBuyers.html

Of course there are exceptions, but the vast majority of the time, unless the seller specifically offers to pay return shipping in the original auction, the buyer has to for "items not as descirbed" unless buyer asks ebay to intervene, and even then they often make buyer pay return shipping.

I ran into a similar situation last week. I won Shining Force CD from a seller and I was sent Doom for Sega Saturn instead. I knew it was a mixup since I saw him selling both games so I opened a case on ebay. I opted to try and work things out with the seller in order to get Shining Force (was a christmas present) and he contacted the Doom buyer and we both sent what we won to each other with tracking.

The situation sucks but mistakes do happen. Did the seller offer to pay the shipping fee at least? If they're responsive and are trying to make things right, I probably wouldn't give them a negative. Maybe a neutral.

i'm a day late, but i used to sell my textbooks on ebay, i accidentally switched the labels for which book was going where; the names were very simlar. both buyers contacted me, returned the books, and i reshipped to the proper buyer. mistakes happen. if the seller cant find the game, just ask for a refund and move on.

I think negative feedback is too much if he's willing to take care of the problem. Negative feedback is a big deal, I'd do neutral at worst... If the return shipping is an issue, have him reimburse you (and agree to it before you ship the item back).
