Call of Duty: Black Ops III |OT| No Content For Old Gen

So I'm usually a LMG and shotgun player and I haven't been able to hit a stride with any of them yet (diamonded both weapon sets in BLOPS2.)

Anyone out there been using them a lot have any suggestions which they're having success with and which perks with them?

I do. I want to see people win primarily because of good play, not scorestreaks.

I like the score streaks, they just should not dominate. So being easy to take out is fine by me.

Scorestreaks are the reward for playing well and making good plays. That's the whole point of the system. The scorestreaks should have a chance to put up a fight before being taken out. Everything from the Wraith and up (except the HATR and Power Core for obvious reasons), take way too long to come in, and its way too easy to shoot them down during that time. Hell, the GI Unit usually kills itself when you call it in.

Dingo + Thermal is filthy, you can also swap it out for BOA if you prefer which is also great IMO. I use it with Quickdraw, second attachment is up for debate, Grip allows for some big multi kill sprays. I use my standard perks for my run and gun playstyle which are Ghost, Fast Hands, Awareness + Dead Silence.

Here's a little clip I just uploaded, good timing on your question! No thermal on it at that time though as I was prestiging the weapon.

I think the problem people have with that is that if you're doing really well already then you don't need an extra boost in that department.

'You got some kills, so here have some free kills on top and a distraction for you to get even more of your own kills'.

If they didn't exist the reward would still be there and would be borne out through the score of the game.

5 attachments? Which ones are even worthwhile? I can see running 3 on most guns (long barrel, foregrip, quickdraw grip).

Well, Rapid Fire is pretty much essential on Shieva and Man Of War. Long Barrel and Quick Draw are your crutch perks in this game. I like to roll with the reflex sight. So that's four.

The fifth can be the high caliber attachment or the grip. High Calibur on Shieva makes it a 1 hit headshot kill. Its amazing to take out people before they can even react.

I rolled with High Cailbur on the M8 and the Man Of War because I noticed I was getting way more headshot kills with the attachment. I know Drift0r said headshots are useless in this game, but my experience says otherwise. If you dont use grip, most guns kick up due to recoil and you might end up getting a headshot kill on the 2nd or 3rd shot most of the time.

With that all out of the way, you fired before you were ADSed, and you got a lucky hipfire hitmarker. And because you are playing no health mode he died.

Yeah, if you see the gif in slow motion while it's loading you can tell the gun was pointing at the window when the first round was shot. incredible and very lucky kill, but i highly doubt the game is that broken.

if anything, its too accurate for its own good.

I dont see many people using it though. Maybe it's early on, but it's been a month and very few people use it. I like that they made it a level 55 unlock so you pretty much have to use your permanent unlock on it if you want to use it. There is nothing wrong with having one really good weapon in the game. not everything has to be nerfed. The fact that people like me who have unlocked it permanently aren't using it just goes to show that it's not that popular. the FAL was a beast in BLOPS 2 but because of its semi auto nature, most people just didnt bother with it. Hell, my KDR with the M8 is 1.54 which is at least 0.25 more than my KDR with every other AR but I just cant be bothered to tap the triggers every time i want to play.

Just recently started playing with the Sheiva, dont know why I didn't use it sooner I'm loving it. I got a few triple kills with it, it just mows people down.

Man O War is my favourite gun and I never use Rapid Fire on it. I roll with the Elo, LB, and Grip. I used to have quickdraw on it, but I found with Fast Hands it isn't essential, since I'm not running and gunning with an AR. On SMGs I use quickdraw though. I feel like Grip is a good attachment because it helps give you the advantage with every kill you ADS with. Unlike High Caliber where it only makes headshots a quicker kill. I use High Caliber on the M8 because of the burst, and the recoil pattern goes up and gets the headshot. Man O War w/o grip, has a weird recoil pattern because of the slow fire rate. I use Grip on every single gun I roll with.

I don't mind too much if they boost longevity, but scorestreaks shouldn't give you so much momentum that a team can't stop it with one guy with a launcher. Specifically, streaks shouldn't take more than four rockets to take down.

lol why should there be just one good gun? There is weapon balance for a reason. A gun being unlocked late shouldn't make it better than other weapons. A gun's usage doesn't represent how good it is. I was making that bolded statement because you mainly see that happen in CoD.

FAL was also nerfed in BO2 despite it being semi/burst fire. Just because a weapon isn't automatic doesn't make it balanced.

Why people use Rejack astounds me. It's completely obvious that you're going to respawn there and the time it takes for you to Rejack is more than enough to reload and ADS

Auto fire doesn't make it any different from burst weapons in the past. Its literally functions the same as burst fire weapons in older games just with a "auto fire" function. Having a trigger finger, or lack of, doesn't make the gun shoot any faster or slower than it already does.

And the fact that most of the automatic weapons in this game have some serious drawback for in either recoil, range, firerate, or damage, praying and spraying definitely isn't some type of ez mode. Thing is, M8 doesn't have many drawbacks itself - the burst fire delay is short as hell, it has minimal recoil even without grip, great range, good damage, and completely shuts out the XR-2 and Shieva at any range. It doesn't take much skill to use.

Got the M8 gold, and for some reason I have a slightly higher KD (>2) with the XR2, it just seems to one burst allot more frequently.

Also M8 is a great gun to use against players who have no mobility, it really suffers against jump shotting very good smg players.

If you miss your first burst of some of it you are dead. M8 is great but not an insta win at all.

I have a better KD with the KN 44 as well (also 2) which I use against more mobile opposition..... M8 flatters to deceive.

Yeah, after playing with the M8 for a while this morning, I don't think it's really overpowered necessarily. I think it's a good gun, but personally, I'd rather have my trusty 48 Dredge.

Anyone want some double exp codes for Zombies? I have like 5 of them and they expire on December 31st, don't think I'll even use them before then.

Quote to see the codes.

Does anyone play the objective in domination here? Like actually..capture points, defend them? I am not a good player but I like, try to contribute you know? Shoot down killstreaks, throw smoke/trophies on B, defend.

I just lost my last domination game after being up by 40+ points, because suddenly I was the only person trying to cap B the entire second half.

Anyone need a role-player, someone to do the dirty work who isn't concerned with their K/D?

I don't do much good with the Vesper but that doesn't mean its actually a bad gun. Personal use doesn't hold much weight on how a good a weapon is.

M8's burst delay is 0.166 sec and in its respective ranges, missing the first burst isn't that punishing vs XR-2's 0.2 sec burst delay. Add in the faster firerate vs XR-2 and the difference is night and day almost. The only thing XR-2 has over the M8 is damage and TTK, but its harder to land all three shots with a slower firerate and a more jumpy recoil. Additionally, it is only a 0.016 of a TTK difference which is barely even an advantage.

You also got to understand that even the most OP guns in CoD had downsides, but that didn't stop them from being overpowered. M16 was burst fire, MP40 had a slow firerate, Model 1887 was lever-action, etc. Finding a niche or area where they fall behind where other weapons excel doesn't necessarily mean that they are balanced.

I love the game but sometimes I got frustrated with the match making, I'm usually on the top of the leaderboards and it pairs with with everyone on the bottom. While the other team is everyone from 2 down.

Are you playing n Xbox One or Ps4, or what? I'm on Xbox One, if you are too, I'd be happy to play with you.

I play LMG's mostly, so I'm all about protecting flags in domination, cutting off choke points, and I generally shoot down UAV's. I'll try to capture points too, if it's needed, but that can be a bit tough with an LMG.

I'm pretty sure I don't know how to use the War Machine correctly. I aim it at a hardpoint where my UAV is showing 4 enemies inside, shoot and get some hits and no kills! There are some flak jacket users but there's so many damn grenades they should kill anyway. I don't get it. A direct hit results in some amazing gibs though!

So far the specialist weapon I'm most effective with is the Tempest.

The grenades do bounce when they're fired unless it's a direct impact I think, so that may contribute to it.

anyone else so sick of people complaining about (wanting) nerfs?

they went COMPLETELY overboard on the gorgon. the ads is pitiful now. i honestly don't feel as if any of the guns right now are op. some are strong with attachments, as they should be. that's what leveling up a gun should do. there is nothing here quite like akimbo 1887s. only gun i don't understand is the haymaker- i get a ton of hitmarkers and also lose to everything but lmgs/snipers at close range, but maybe i'm using it wrong.

The Gorgon shouldn't have been nerfed in the first place. Everybody was calling for nerfs to the Gorgon barely a week after the game released, before we really had a chance to really test out all of the weapons. It was a top tier weapon for sure, but there's a few weapons I'd put over the pre nerf Gorgon right now. If I had the choice I'd put it back to where it was before, because right now it's awful.

Hive is so good. So good. It can just completely shut down bottlenecks and flanks. Not the most glamorous specialist weapon but I think it has the most utility.

I'm not a huge fan. I seem to die a lot while in the middle of planting the hives. I like that you can stick people with the hive though.

I'm so fucking sick of people using headphones with awareness. It's cheating. Using an external device to gain a substantial advantage over others is cheating.

its just as good if you can blast surround sound speakers in your living room, dunno why you are labeling it as a cheat with headphones

Tried both, and blasting it is nothing like that. Not to mention, at normal, non-deafening volumes I can't hear enemy footsteps at all with surround sound.

I said it's cheating because it's an external device that provides players with a large, and unfair advantage over those who don't use it, don't want to use it, or can't afford it.

There's a reason the Awareness perk icon is a pair of headphones, and not a 5.1 surround sound system.
