The vision pulse challenge is broken. I can't tell you how many times I had two people highlighted and got a double kill and didn't get credit for it.

The worst part of the vision pulse challenge is you can't really use it as it is supposed to be used because the window is so short. You have to see the enemies first, then tag them and have to hope you're able to get a double kill. If you're just randomly using the vision pulse without knowing if there are enemies nearby it's going to be tough completing that challenge.

That is so true about the diamond guns. One I get them diamond move on to the next set of guns. I don't know why to be honest. I do awful with the LMS and shotguns. I am kinda going for dark matter but I know in the back of my mind I have no chance of getting the snipers diamond.

Hmm, that is disheartening. 3 year cycle cod too, shouldnt really be happening. Pretty sure some of the ghosts challenges started too high and were patched down, you'd think this would be an exact science after 10 years.

My plan for vision pulse is again hardcore, 2x tripmines, and hammer combine + nuketown, hope that people run into the mines at the same time as I get kills with my gun.

Im really enjoying the (edit - not smgs) LMGs actually, super powered, really steady, nice sights, huge mags, im 50% through them now, just finished dingo now starting the gorgon.

You have to get a Bag and Tag x2 in order for it to count towards the two rapid kills. It sucks because even if you get a double kill, it is common for another medal to appear in between two Bag and Tags (Kingslayer, Bloodthirsty, etc.), thus technically giving you two individual Bag and Tag medals as opposed to a Bag and Tag x2. However, a double kill with C4 will ALWAYS give you a Bag and Tag x2. So you can play Domination, stay hidden in your spawn, keep a C4 on your flag, and when the enemy is capturing you can use your vision pulse to Tag two people and the C4 should give you a guaranteed Tag and Bag x2.

Do this twice and never worry about it again.

Boom, you're welcome.

Maybe I just didn't understand how the vision pulse work. It seems to me just because you use the vision pulse and the enemies turn red does necessarily mean they are "tagged." I think they have to be somewhat close to actually be tagged.

Domination may be game mode to consider because at least you know where the enemies are headed for the most part.

The LMG are not awful by any means it's a challenge getting headshots with them.

Look at my post above.

Credit to Tabor Hill, I got the information from his video on getting double kills with Vision Pulse.

Good man, this sounds perfect, thank you very much. I'm going tagging and bagging tonight, although i wont be repeating that phrase to anyone in real life.

I find them super easy because theyre so steady. I have my look sensitivity on 5 horizontal and 2 vertical so im always on a level. Play large maps like infection and you've always got a steady mid range shot in front of you to pop those melons.

This is interesting, seeing people who are open to using every weapon/specialist in the game and completing every challenge for them. I just can't see myself doing that ever. Heck, I don't even have gold on the SMGs I use the most because I'm not willing to perform poorly due to having six or no attachments on them.

Of course I've experimented to see what it is that I like, and now that I'm settled in I just can't change.

At best, I perform well but just dislike the fact that I could be doing better with my other classes. At worst, I perform poorly due to disliking the weapon and I just revert back to my classes anyway.

This is especially true when playing solo or in a small party. Being how I am (some have told me that anyone on my team is pretty much guaranteed to win), I can't afford to handicap myself since it could turn out pretty badly.

For me its that I dont care remotely about KD, the game for me is having fun and I love those challenges popping up, like thats the real game for me. So every round ending, my medals actually mean something, I tot up my headshots, sometimes im using a horrible gun but ill get some crazy medals and get excited. My best was 20 headshots in 1 game of FFA hardcore, jumped up 2x camos, loads of xp.

tl;dr, i like seeing numbers flash on my screen

There are so many unlocks with this game I feel when I am playing I have to be working toward something. I have the AR and SMG diamond so now it is on to the LMG. Same with the specialist classes. I did all the challenges so now the Hero armor challenges are unlocked.

After I unlock everything I will go back to using the guns and specialist classes I like the best.

I suppose I also enjoy challenging myself and seeing number pop up on my screen, but I do it in a more agressive way. I love seeing how many shanks and sliced and diced's I got in a game, or how many Mothership kills I've gotten in a game (my record is 68), or how high I can get my KD in a game (114-1), or how much score I can get in a match (11,000), or how much SPM I can get (1,049), etc.

In a way, my version of the game and having fun is by trying to do as good as I can, and then doing even better. Does that make sense?

Edit: What do you guys think about the Dark Ops challenges? Is anyone trying to do them?

Edit 2: Is anyone going to try to 100% every challenge (excluding black market calling cards)?

Oh it makes perfect sense and I wish I could think that way.

I just have OCD about completing challenges for some reason. The sad reality is I have barely played another games since BO3 came out. If I do play another game I keep saying to myself "this time should be spent playing black ops and working toward unlocking things."

I do want the dark camo but I am AWFUL with sniper rifles. I think by the time I complete the challenges (if I can even do them) COD space ops (or whatever it will be called) will be out. Also trying to get 5 bloodthirstys with the knife does not exactly excite me either.

As for the 100%. That is even too much for me. There are far too many calling cards for me to unlock.

Double the disappointment.

Bet they make the odds of a weapon dropping even longer to level out with extra cases opening.

Best to just stock up.

It is amazing how depressing it is opening up loot crates using cryptokeys. The grind to 30 is rough, only to pop one and it has a rare repeat gesture and two commons.... It makes me not want to play the game at all... I understand that some of the crew at Treyarch closer to the ground were opposed to anything but cosmetics and it was the higher ups reaching for dollars, but it definitely has had a negative impact on the game for me. Paying for the deluxe digital edition only to have content withheld, and not making this clear up front, it leaves a really bad taste.

Free to play is a fine model, if it is actually free to play to begin with. Don't invite me to pay $100+ for a game that includes a "Season Pass" and then put game changing items (weapons) behind a separate paywall or incredibly thin odds. I'm at the end of 9th prestige and have spent well more than one thousand cryptokeys. I have unlocked ONE weapon, the cosmetic-only sword. I'd gladly burn all of my loot earned so far for the MX Garand alone.

Rare chests should at least prevent duplicates and you should be able to trade in unwanted loot. Fix your shit Treyarch.

By the way this is a a great post. Like you I bought the $100 version so I can get all the map packs. People that already paid $100 bucks should have been able to download the weapons. Hell it would have been better to charge for the guns but that was never going to happen. The thing is that when they said you could get the weapons in the chests I was excited that they were not charging for them

What I didn't know is the weapons are pretty much carrots on sticks because the odds are so low in getting them. God knows how much money Activision has made on people wasting real money buying dust camos, duplicate taunts and decals.

Here is what gets me: When the game first came out those 10 key checks were pretty generous with rare items. 30 keys you'd almost guarantee yourself a couple of rare items.

Now? Spend 10 tokens you're getting 3 dust camos. Spend 30 keys you're getting the same odds in getting a rare item that we used to get with the 10 key chests back in November.

Players spend hours earing 30 keys and they are getting two common items and a taunt. The excitement is simply gone with the chests because players are expected to be disappointed.

That's why I've resolved not to open any chests until I save up 300. I figure there's a better chance of getting something I'm satisfied with out of 10+ rare chests than out of one, so rather than grinding out keys going through the opening process 10 times and getting disappointed 9/10 times, I do one big grind and open all 10 at once, and so far I've been satisfied. It also helps me try playing for reasons other than keys. Got Dark Matter doing that grind.

genuine question, im not being rude, do you think that doing a coin flip, heads or tails, has any bearing on the outcome of the following flip? I tend to open in batches too, i like to save keys up, buy crates one at a time and sometimes even not buy another until I've earned back the 30 I just spent. But actual opening 1 or 10 at a time, the odds have no relation to the previous opening. All I'm relying on is eventually i'll have so much stuff i'll just keep getting rare duplicates to sell back immediately.

No, I know this method has no greater odds of yielding a weapon or the likes than opening 10 chests bit by bit does. I just find it more satisfying to build up to a sturdy amount and then do a big opening. Doing one each time I get 30 keys left me feeling defeated more often than not. If I put it out of my mind for a week and then open 10, there's a better chance that one of those 30 items will bring me satisfaction. Even though I held out longer in opening the chests, I don't hope for ten times what I hope for while opening an individual rare.

It's a mix of lower expectations from me and larger quantities to satisfy those expectations. A mental trick, nothing else.

fair enough, I thought so, just checking. I am going to absolutely batter it this weekend, whats everyones favourite techniques? Did anyone find out what actually contributes to them? Sometimes I get 1, sometimes i get 3 in identical games.

You get more depending on how long the game lasts, and I think a bit of a bonus if your team wins. You can probably get more for your time by playing longer-lasting game modes, since there will be more Cryptokeys per intermission, and we all know intermissions just mean a whole bunch of time wasting about and not earning Cryptokeys. You'll get the fewest on Nuketown, by nature of the map's quick games.

And of course the actual number it says you get depends on where the Cryptokey bar was before the game starts. If you're a sliver away from getting a Cryptokey, there's a good chance you could get "3" in a single game of TDM.

I'll probably play some Demolition this weekend. Go for a few Hero challenges while I'm at it. The longer games also let you get weapons and abilities more times, giving you a better chance to meet the 4/6 kills in a game challenge.

Haven't been playing that actively in the past few weeks but decided to carry on with my DM grind again this weekend and on PC there seems to have been a big increase in campers. Not a big deal as I just flank them and kill them when I respawn but what makes them irritating is that the bastards ruin my streak when going for bloodthirsty medals!

Oh and I think the award for my new least favourite weapon goes to the RK5. Trying to gold it atm which is proving to be a challenge as the gun is such a hit marker machine with very few bursts resulting in actual kills. Slapped high calibre on it which seems to have helped a little bit and also equipped dead silence. 2 more bloodthirsties and I can forget this thing even exists.

Yeah, the RK5 was a pain in the butt as I recall. One of those guns where I get hitmarkers for days, but when someone else is using it against me, I'm consistently killed from full health in a single burst.

Anyone have a pic of Sereph's black market gear?
I only have Sky, Night and Gangsta.

Kinda wish they'd add past COD's victory music along with the emotes for drops.

I don't get why people still quit games. The second any team hits the 30 kills mark it's still a better time investment to just play the match out.

I'm a new PS4 owner and I'm thinking about picking this up. I haven't played CoD since BO2 – I'm going to get wrecked, aren't I? Any basic "beginners" tips?

Get it! Join in! Have Fun!... and do the weapon challenges, they can be infuriating at times but totally doable and a blast.

Thanks, I'll give it a go tomorrow. I might even set up camp in some corners of the maps... I just need 1 more bloodthirsty and I can toss this shitty gun in the bin.

Glad I didn't pay for the last four maps, played them last weekend and Gauntlet was the only one I didn't hate. People seem to like Skyjacked and I don't know why, it's just another Nuketown. Not a fan of small maps.

don't sweat your KDR, hang back a bit instead of rushing forward first always, always keep your eyes moving between mini map and screen, set your scorestreak items to package drop, remote control car, and UAV and you will be popping those things much more often.

I am absolutely TERRIBLE at FPS' but bo3 is one of my favorite go to games when I just want to chill. Also watching other people play on twitch is great, you can sample various casters and get a feel for which ones feel like people you would hang out IRL with and see them play

Getting long shots with the Marshal is ridiculous. Hardcore and long barrel are mandatory, and even then there's a tiny tiny tiny window between not-a-long-shot and out-of-range.

That said, the Marshal is a beast in hardcore with the long barrel. As long as you get a hit-marker, they're dead, and it's range rivals the Argus, with faster handling. The reloading is the only issue, but if you're good at cancelling into an early reload (fast mags helps) then it's barely slower than an Argus or KRM pump.

So yeah, Marshal is gold, now I need a new weapon to play with. Got nearly 250 keys so far from the weekend. I'll spend 'em all when it's done.

I'm really enjoying the Drakon. 1--is it considered a sucky weapon? If so, what other sniper rifle do you suggest I use? 2--what attachments/sight do you suggest I use with it?
