Callisto Protocol confirmed to have 60 FPS mode

Game is cross-gen so kind of expected but you can never be so sure. Nice to have a confirmation.

Sigh, just because two incompetent games failed to deliver 60 fps, people are now genuinely worrying 30 fps only future.

Gonna just call it here, most games incoming will still offer fidelity/performance mode options.

Open world games will struggle for sure. This game seems like a lot of corridors and tight spaces.

I mean yes its a very linear corridor based game, if somehow this cross-gen game lacked a 60 FPS mode, we would be truly fucked lol

At least with both Plague Tale and Gotham Knights there is the excuse that they're big expansive games.

Plague Tale and Gotham Knights, lazy assholes who won't work hard enough, lost my pre-order. Callisto Protocol, a game I was already highly interested in, got my money today along with God of War.

Day one for those that put in the effort!!!

I must admit, the 30fps mob while no doubt in the minority are pretty vocal, which concerns me that devs will pay attention to these nut jobs.

Really perplexed about that mentality. What most framerate folks ask is a high fps option, not eliminating the fidelity mode; but the other side just don't seem to want people to have options. The current gen consoles are capable of providing both options, why oppose that?

Happy for those that care about 60fps.

I'm going to assume that there will be a "fidelity" mode with this news of this option.

Personally, I'll be opting for the most cinematic experience with fidelity/30fps.

Definitely not opposed to fidelity mode for people who want that. Just don't want 30fps only to creep up on us this gen.

That's because most games coming out are still cross-gen lol

Jokes aside, I hope you're right when it comes to current gen only too.

Thats nice to hear, I care more about image quality with horror titles like this, but having the option is still nice.

Hell no. No excuse for either but especially Gotham Knights (huge publisher/big developer team). Neither one of those games should be taxing these consoles it's just pure developer laziness at its finest. Incompetence and/or laziness. Neither is using RT and there's no way they couldn't have scales a couple settings down to have a performance mode.

It's clear to me though that the consoles are going to be very underpowered as this gen continues precisely because of devs like these, of which there are many, who for whatever reason don't bother with a 60 fps mode. You could say it's not the consoles fault but it's still a power issue. A more powerful machine would be able to brute force these kind of releases.

These systems need talented devs using lots of expert programming to be able to truly impress it seems. If they were powerful we wouldn't be getting so many cross gen games at 1440p/60 with medium/high settings.

Horizon FW being open world and cross gen looks absolutely amazing though.

No offense, but I hate that devs work hard for years and have to hear comments like this.
Why, when so many other games are doing it better and going the extra step? If not the devs who's to blame? It's not like Gotham Nights Is a technical marvel. That would be understandable.

Gamers are too soft on developers these days. They're even charging $70 so the least we should expect is a fidelity and performance option.

So it's soft when I choose not call a developer "incompetent"? Specifically in the most recent cases? Are devs to blame? Who knows. Could be budget, time restraints, vision, or whatever.
But calling them incompetent when 95% of the people on this board have no clue how develop a game? Come on now....

Calling it developer laziness is ridiculous. Game developers are absolutely not lazy, and it's ridiculous to argue that they are. It's not always as simple as reducing a couple of settings and there you go, performance mode.

You can argue that they should have prioritized frame rate more without attacking their work ethic, which you know nothing about.

Thank goodness. 30fps is literally unplayable. Imagine playing a game like it, where it literally takes twice as long to see the results of doing anything! Oof! :)

If you think gaffers are soft with devs, never visit reeee, you get a ban if you even talk about devs laziness.

It must be hard for people to understand that being a developer is a job and like any job in this world, you have developers that sucks or are lazy fucks.
