Callisto Protocol Gamescom 2022 gameplay 4K

Really weird choice of a location for the presentation. Looked pretty bland, but most of all their version of 'stasis' looks way overpowered.

And that sliding scene - welp, nothing special unless they wanted to show off one of the death animations.

From someone who hates anything related to horror, this looks less frightening than Dead Space? The ability to pull and push enemies seems amazingly overpowered, even without that grinder in the middle of the room. Also, Dead Island 2 seems to be gorier and the carnage looks better? But again this is only 3 mins of gameplay.

Yep, gore in di2 looked way better.

Oh shit, is that the cute ass Karen Fukuhara?

I was hoping it was as soon as I saw the in-game screenshot. I really like her acting in The Boys and I'm very excited to see her appear in more movies. Just found out that she was also the katana chick from Suicide Boys which is funny considering I thought she was the most charismatic one of the whole bunch despite getting only 5 minutes of screen-time.

On topic: Slightly underwhelmed by the gameplay but I did have very high expectations. Looks like a fun game, but very rough around the edges. A lot of animations looked very clunky and out of place. Hope they will significantly improve that by launch.

Day 1 if the reviews are decent. People calling the gameplay not god are out of their minds, they are showing a vertical slice, sure the E3 demo was better but they realized the attention they got from it and probably rushed another demo thats an old build for gamescom. The game looks legit and better than all the other unicorn crap being made in todays market.

I was expecting the worst based on this thread but it looked awesome to me, The Evil Within / Dead Space. Definitely 100% still in.

All these frame rate complaints, It's 2022 and people still don't know performance is the last thing to get ironed out in development.

I mean... yeah, sure. But they could have recorded gameplay using some beastly rig instead in the mean time. Too many games shown at Gamescom had weird frame rate issues, I understand it isn't the final product, but you are showcasing and trying to sell your games.... bad framerates in a presentation just leave a bad taste in my mouth.

Still, I hope the frame issues are sorted and that the game has DLSS as this is 1of 2 games I'm really looking forward to in 2022.

That's how the game currently performs, you can't brute force an unfinished unoptimized game, if this was running on PC I'm sure it was "beastly".

Come back to this thread in a few months when the game releases and performs well so we don't have to go through this song and dance again.

Personally, I don't care about the "AAAA" BS, I care about the gameplay. We've seen small slivers, but obviously enough to show us that this is being put together by OG Dead Space devs. That's enough for me to be excited about it. That being said, there's STILL a whole game there that we haven't even seen yet, and that gets me excited. I hope it delivers, and I hope its a solid IP that takes off.

This looks like the The Evil Within in space. A dream come true. Pre-ordered.

Water slide was redundant. They're fun sequences to decompress from the horror but no need to showcase them.

Anyway, can't wait.

You all can whine about framerate dips and water slides while I'm having a blast playing the game.

Not sure where the hype went. Maybe not the best slice of gameplay to show, but I have confidence the game will deliver the kind of experience we all miss from the lack of Dead Space.

Matt saw new footage of The Callisto Protocol, and came back with a list of reasons why it isn't just Dead Space 4. Mutations, work benches, powers, and a slew of other changes make this a game all its own.

Why do you think it wasn't already being run on a beastly rig? I bet it was

We sat down with The Callisto Protocol dev, Mark James, to talk about how the upcoming survival horror game is reinventing what it means to be a horror game. The Callisto Protocol is being developed by Striking Distance Studios and directed by Glen Schofield, creator of the Dead Space franchise.
