Can you tell the difference between a British and an American by looking at them?

And that's just the first page. I guess all yanks are non passport owning, ignorant fatfucks.

It's probably true that the upper class have relatively ugly teeth, what with all the inbreeding. Also TV personalities here can get away without perfect cosmetic dentistry, less so in the US. Older actors of French TV are a whole lot worse I've noticed.

The average person in the UK has relatively straight and white teeth. If there's anything really wrong it's covered by the NHS (if you're under 18).

This is completely off topic but I just realized that this girl is french :

My mind is so blown it's all over the walls. I seriously doubt this woman even speaks french, she seems british as all hell to me.

Since she spent her whole life in France and is French, yes she does speak French...

Laurie's accent in House is seriously really, really shite.
I don't watch House, so I have no idea if this is true or not.

I just think it's rather funny if foreigners really are better at distinguishing fake accents than people with said accents.

Easily. There is a thread where I could tell the (normal dressed) guy was European just be looking at a gif and I was right.

It's something I can't put my finger on but I know when I see it.

Edit: Actors are different most of the time. Alien actors can easily throw you off with their faked American accents and mannerisms.

Pretty sure I saw something recently showing that whites in the USA are predominantly descended from German immigrants, not English. There's a reason we look different.

I was joking about the teeth :( hence the ":P", I knew it was just a stereotype.

And actors really don't count, their job is to portray people from different places and accents it's expected they will be confusing, or at least it should, if they want to be called good actors.

Hugh Laurie's accent in the first season of House was laughably bad, but it did get better. And all this talk of Rick in Walking Dead and no one mentioned this guy:

His accent is ATROCIOUS, it sounds like he watched Taken over and over and then decided to base it on Liam Neeson's hilarious American acent

People still think we have bad teeth? I guess Mericans being totally ignorant of all things outside the US is still a thing then.

Is there a name for this type of person: white american man from the Midwest (or states like Utah) who is religious and typically wears badly fitted button up shirts and is married by the age of 23. I have this image in my head of this but I don't know if its a stereotype.

I'm British and have lived in Canada for 7 years. I used to work with a black-british guy and we were friends, somebody came up to me in the office once and asked "why does that African American guy speak with a British accent?"

So apparently you can only spot Britons abroad if they're pastey-white and have bad hair/teeth.

btw, could have sworn I just read an article in the paper about the UK having one of lowest rates of gum disease in the world - above the US.

You read correct, lowest amount of fillings as well.

This question reminds me of when I asked a Chinese business partner whether there was a visual difference between the Chinese and Japanese. He said no and there was then an uncomfortable silence for about a minute (felt like an hour)

Most of those posts were probably just jokes. But that chart, wherever it comes from, doesn't prove that British teeth look good. It's possible that British people have healthier teeth than Americans, but that their teeth are still less straight and white and good looking on average than American's teeth. When it comes to TV, I could post at least a dozen actors on English TV that have bad teeth, but I probably couldn't post one actor on American TV with bad teeth.

Lol, I'm sure nobody on US TV has had dental work done for perfect and bleached teeth. People don't care about teeth unless they're fucking disgusting and it's obvious they don't brush/floss, not unnaturally white and straight teeth. Healthy teeth aren't 100% straight or perfect unless again, they've had dental work done.

Pretty sure people do care with all the braces kids have and home whitening methods...

Yes, I'm sure those US actors got dental work done. I'm guessing that a lot of Americans get dental work done to get perfect and bleached teeth, more Americans than British, and that that's were this stereotype comes from. My point was that that chart that keeps getting posted may prove that the British have healthier teeth than Americans, but it doesn't prove that British people have better looking teeth. Maybe more Americans get braces and orthodontic works that's only about appearance than British people.

healthier > better looking, at least one can be measured and defined as 'bad'

once again America proves it can't separate fantasy from reality

But you're using it as a ridiculous metric to gauge an entire population. Sure, people with money and who care will get their teeth bleached and straightened but the Joe Bloggs from either countries when compared, it's obvious who will come on top. On top of subsidised healthcare which helps people with low income.

The fact that most American celebrities have perfect teeth shows how fake American culture is.

Perfect teeth in Britain is something to be ashamed of
