Guy on the phone told me the shipping isn't free on TVs and if you add one to cart and try to check out, yeah, the shipping isn't free. the 49" comes to $1104 US after tax+border fees which is almost 1500 CAD. And the warranty you either have to pay extra for, or it doesn't count because it's an american purchase so they won't honor it in canada unless you pay for the better warranty. So it's 1500 + whatever that is, (i think 70 ish USD). So all in all about 1600 CAD. Not exactly great.

It says "FREE SHIPPING TO CANADA ON THIS ORDER" in big bold letters in my cart.

And if I start the checkout it's still listed as free in the shipping options.

Your "guy on the phone" is full of shit.

Man, seeing you guys get the $20 per game makes me kinda sad I didn't get the full $20 per game last weekend when trading in towards my Pro. One of my 5 games wasn't over $8 so I think the system applied the "Trade More, Get More" instead. Missed out on about $18.

I'm guessing there's not much they can do after the fact? They'd probably need to rescan the games (which could've easily been resold already) and system. Ah well...

It says free when I do the checkout. Or if I pay through apple pay it says $0 on shipping.

As far as I know, the shipping IS free on tv's up to 49". I have logged in and get to the payment screen after selecting the free shipping option entering billing information (past shipping) and the number hasn't magically increased. Including shipping, customs and border fees I am seeing $955.95 (I'm in AB). That is a little under $1300CAD. Nowhere near your $1600. If I were to check out, they couldn't retroactively charge me for shipping either. The warranty thing, well you can buy a squaretrade, or take a chance. Either way you're saving $700+, at least here in AB.

Really ? I'm in Ontario and I'm getting customs/duties at $122. The shipping did recalculate to free so that's correct now, but mine's coming up at $1382. And yeah the warranty would be another hundred. It also says Nafta qualified which I thought was supposed to eliminate or reduce duties ?

Overwatch with a discount on PSN

$52.79 without PS+
$46.39 with PS+

That basically works out to the price of the PC base game in USD.

Edit: Also on sale on Amazon.ca for $49.99 all versions (including PC)

hoping Bestbuy has some good 4K HDR tvs on sale for BF
Same. Though that KS8000 for $1400 at BH Photo is awfully tempting.
But if they have the X800D for ~$700 at Best Buy, I'll just go with that even though it's not as good for blacks and contrast when compared to the KS8000.
And I'd much rather have Android TV over that Samsung horsefuckery of an OS.

Have Prime, still waiting for mine to be shipped :( :(.

Still says shipping soon, arriving today.
Same here. Amazon is really hit and miss with my release day deliveries :/

Battlefront Ultimate Bundle is only arriving next Wednesday. The release is today. C'moooooooooon.

I am not affilated with the place....but I see a lot of ppl thinking about the ks8000 so I'll mention where I got mine again.

I got a 65 " ks8000 at hifi city for 2350 +tax.

I have not seen it that low anywhere else.

I just came back from Best Buy and looked at the 4K HDR demo on the KS8000. Hot damn, that TV looks good.

I hope I can get one or a similar model sometime next year.

Hey guys, quoting myself from the other thread.

Hey guys, I'm not too knowledge-able about the current laptop market.

But my gf is looking for one. She wants to be able to watch movies on it, do some photoshop and some video editing. What are good options? She has her desktop at home for games. She mostly wants to be able to do her work when she spends a few days at my place and once in a while elsewhere.

Oh and she doesn't want a macbook, since she wants to easily move things from her laptop to her windows pc.

I know a few of you suggested the XPS and it looks good. But she wants 15" or more and the XPS 15 is outside her price range.

I spotted this on amazon.ca https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0146DD02G/

You guys think this is is a good choice of laptop for the price?

Well, you're bang on about that. What NAFTA qualified means is you aren't being charged duty at the border, just tax. So what you are seeing there is the base price +13%, which is the same tax you would have to pay on the set if you bought it in Ontario anyway. The argument here is the base price, because here in Alberta taxes will only amount to 5% over that, which is why we are seeing different amounts.

You are going to struggle to do photoshop and video editing on that. Both of those things eat memory for dinner as well you will go through that 256gb ssd in no time

Whenever I paid for my tv at the border I never mentioned nafta. They should have just known and did it right?

I paid about 200 at the border.

At the resolution / length of videos she's doing (2-3 minutes each), I'm pretty sure that's enough. I've done a lot more under way lower specs.

And she has enough storage elsewhere. This is only for when she's not working from home.

I'm not worried about the specs themselves. I just don't know if the price is fine and reliability/durability of ASUS laptops for the price.

I am seriously considering buying a TV that I won't use until May.

Either now or boxing day.

I'm not sure if Super Bowl gets decent sales.

This is where things get complicated. Depends on who you purchased from, and how they detailed they were when they filled out the shipping form. If you kept your shipping receipt, there should be a form that was filled out by the CBSA and that will tell you in detail how much you were charged, and what for. It should only be the $200 or so for tax, and should show 0.00 for duty, etc. I'm guessing you bought a bigger size though, for that much.

Oh man here comes a new challenger.

How does this TV fare compared to the Samsung KS8000 of the same size?

From what I know, in general, the KS8000 has better contrast/black levels and the HDR is somewhat better due to higher brightness that it can do (500-1400 nits vs 350 nits; 1000 nits recommended for HDR10).

I picked it up in the states and paid at border. I'll ty and find the receipt for that see what it says.

I bought a 55" ks8000 for like 1000 American and I think I paid 200 at border. I'll check.

The ks8000 is a great TV for hdr gaming. I have it perfectly set and it looks insane. You ttuly want the best hdr capable you can get. I have the settings in the first post of that settings thread for anyone that gets one.

So the 49" X800D is NOT the one everyone is fawning over, as it uses an IPS panel, which has somewhere around 1000:1 contrast ratio, but has better viewing angles than the 43" X8000D, which uses a VA panel and has closer to 3000:1 contrast ratio, but worse viewing angles. Both models reach about 350 nits peak brightness. The KS8000 49" has more than 3000:1 contrast ratio and can reach 1000+ nits of peak brightness, which, from what I understand, qualifies it for premium HDR spec(not 100% sure on that spec name?).

Is there any sort of way I can look up trade in value of my games.

Aka value of my used games.

I'd like to clean out any old games that are actually worth trading in.

Especially with the switch coming. Seems senseless to keep some of this wiiu stuff

You're not making it any easier to get the X800D ;_;.

Go for what you can afford. In the end that will make you happiest.

For instance I paid 1600 and drove 3 hours for my tv but that was my budget. I could have gotten a 65 inch for 600 more bucks but than I wouldn't have been happy with myself for spending that much.

We all make concessions.

I just checked and I paid 175 taxes and no duty at border so they def just did Tafta for me without question.

We canadian prime members do not get access to the tv stuff like the states.does right?

Personal observation too: smaller screen with a very high res image is absolutely stunning, and covers up deficiencies on somewhat poorer images alot better. (Esp 720p signal)

You're right about that, especially if you are in the optimal viewing distance. Do you own an X800D?

I think I can afford the $1400 for the 49" KS8000 from BH Photo as well, but if it's not a big difference between them I'd rather go for the cheaper X800D.
Hmmmm.

If you have new-ish stuff, check EB's website: they have lists of games that qualify for their promotions.

Also Best Buy has a trade portal but, again, most of the games listed will be on the new side.

Finally there's tivs.ca but that's user-driven and not very active anymore.

I'm in the same position as you. What's worse is I can only find the 49" X800D being demoed in stores here in Calgary. Tough choice.

Wait for Black Friday flyers. Microsoft Store and Dell should have some decent deals.

That's the plan. But this one showed up as a Black Friday week deal in an amazon email.
Black Friday Deals Week is here. Save up to 57% on deals across Amazon.ca. Browse electronics deals, home deals, holiday gift guides, and more.

Also, I personally hate dealing with Dell's website.
