For the life of me, I barely remember anything other than Layton taking the ndp to new heights. I'm guessing people were still nervous about the grand recession and somehow thought the conservatives would keep us out of it.

Iggy was ineffective and got destroyed by the Conservatives' negative ads. Blue Liberal voters in Ontario were so scared of a surging NDP that they went Conservative en masse and gave Harper a majority.

I recently moved away from Ottawa, but I spent 3 years there and there are more Shawarma restaurants per block than anything else. It's crazy.

Also, surprisingly, very little Tim Hortons' there.
