Capcom files for ''Beatdown: Fists of Vengeance''

In one of the stranger filing stories in recent weeks, it seems Capcom has filed for the trademark of “Beatdown: Fists Of Vengeance” with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The filing, which was made on December 27th, 2004, is of particular interest due to the additional information it reveals. Specifically, it appears that Japanese developer Cavia Inc., behind such titles as Drakengard, Resident Evil: Dead Aim, Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex, is listed alongside Capcom as the owner of the filing. As always, stay with us for more news as it develops.

I'm always happy to see a brand new title... but that title.... uh....

I think Capcom gets it :lol Create new franchises by any means possible. The title has 'stupid MTV appeal' written all over it, and if the gameplay is good and the writing has snarky humour then I can see myself enjoying it.

'Bout time we got a sequel, G.

It's not. It's a PS2 title being developed by Scarab, one of Cavia's internal studios.
Scarab? :/

What have they done besides the crappy DC port of Fighting Vipers 2?

Wow.... terrible title + terrible studio = PROFIT! Me thinks Capcom has a warped sense of what makes money. :lol

Just looked up Scarab's gameography.... it's not pretty...

Surprise. It was actually shaping up into something quite good before Activision pulled the plug on it and a whole boatload of other unannounced titles.
???

What else did Activision can? Were they active in looking for JP product? Was this also why they let Tenchu go to From/K2?
