Capcom have finally climbed back up to the top this gen.

Street Fighter 5

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite

Trust me, I love Monster Hunter and DMC, and I'm beginning to get into RE, but let's not pretend Capcom hasn't spent these past 2 gens being bumbling dumbfucks when it comes to fighting games.

I don't care for Resident Evil or Monster Hunter so basically the only Capcom game I've enjoyed this gen is DMC 5 which was excellent but not nearly enough to bring them back to their glory days in my eyes. Their fighting games and Ace Attorney 6 were awful and I thought Megaman 11 was completely unremarkable.

They've fallen into the same pit as Sega as far as I'm concerned, they have a handful of high profile ips they can count on for profit but that means sacrificing both the wild creativity of the PS2 era and their amazing historical catalogue of franchises. Can you imagine modern Capcom coming up with something as batshit crazy as Steel Battalion or making a new Rival Schools? Because I can't.

RE2 and MHW have both been worth it for me. Great experiences and hundreds of hours (more hours spent on MHW obviously) of fun. Still yet to start on DMC5 but I've heard mostly good things on it. Definitely spent more money on them this gen than the last 2 or so.

I'll say they're back on top from my perspective when I'm enjoying a new, full console experience, Breath of Fire release. :messenger_winking:

RE2 was a very welcome surprise and they probably have earned a few years of goodwill from me for it lol. Was hoping that I would have enjoyed DMCV more but something about it fell a little flat for me.
