Capcom teases new PS4 game

Hum dont know wha to think, capcom is a long time ago in a dino crisis and deep down we all know there is a resident evil in that studio developer thats prevents them of bringing good quality games, it would take mega man power for that, but hey, we all have seen some dead rising before too.
Even a devil may cry reading this post.

Fun fact about God Hand:

one of these is more niche than the other...

True that :( What i was trying to say is that Sony/Microsoft already funded their "Bayo2", that is their third party japanese game exclusive.

GUYS GUYS!!

Rival Schools...

*runs*
I wouldn't mind that... outside Batsu,Kyosuke and Sakura Capcom has barely touched the Rival Schools roster

Itsuno did mention that he would like to make a new Rival Schools last year, sounded like he really wanted another shot at making a fighting game.

Its been 6 years since the last Itsuno DMC game. The time has come and so have I for DMC5 from his team.

Hopefully it's a game that would not be possible without Sony. I don't want another Tomb Raider situation. Unless it's multiplatform to begin with.

They've created 3 new AAA ips last gen. It's not really a feat.

3 is a pathetic number...

Let's see how many new IP's (that became franchises) were in the generation before that?

Devil May Cry
Onimusha
Okami
Viewtiful Joe
Monster Hunter
Sengoku Basara
Steel Batallion
Power Stone
Maximo
Darkwatch
among others

And if you want to include new IP's they had that were stand alone games there were:

Killer 7
God Hand
Chaos Legion
Haunting Ground
Shadow of Rome
Crimson Tears
and a hell of a lot more.

These were all games that were sold in stores as a disc based title. A new IP was common place back then for Capcom... now it's pretty much non-existent unless it's an indie downloadable title.

Itsuno has to work at 200% to produce an action game that sets a new benchmark in a post Bayonetta world.

Naw, he just needs to take the DMC4 fight engine and put in a game that's visually stimulating and has a narrative which is both tongue and cheek while being interesting.

Meaning Capcom needs to Hire up when it comes to artists and designers.

Which they won't.

Itsuno needs to expand upon the DMC4 combat engine, not be content with making the same thing but with prettier graphics. That's how you push the benchmark which is what a DMC game does.

And yea Capcom totally needs to hire writers and designers for the game to reach it's max potential.

We are not going to get PS2 era Capcom again. That was definitely among their finest moments in gaming.

I'd say the number one thing Capcom needs to do with Devil May Cry is make people trust in the brand again. If that means making DMC4-2, so be it.

Honestly I think they could for the most part leave DMC4's engine alone and just build around that more. Make Dante the soul playable character
unless you bring back Vergil
, give him a few more weapons to use, and build a bunch of really solid levels with some great bosses. If the story can be DMC3 level that will be completely serviceable.

Barring a few touch ups I still think DMC4 is a pretty respectable looking video game visually too, to be honest.

Making a DMC4-2 is exactly the type of thing they shouldn't be doing. They should be making a product that takes the strength of all the DMC games (yes even including DmC) and deliver something that is superior to what has been done before. This means better enemy design/AI, better level design (especially mechanically), better platforming, better writing, better atmosphere, better character design, better mission structure, better side content.. and yes even better combat system.

THAT is what will restore confidence in the franchise. It's been too long since DMC4 for the goal of status quo to be sufficient.

Dante's styles are very iconic but they have to bring something new to the table.

Take DMC4's combat engine and infuse everything else with what made DMC3 great. Problem solved. (I know it's not that easy)

I'd honestly probably ditch Royal Guard in favor of something else.

Deep down looks really good. Did you guys dismissing it not see the updates on it? I think it will satisfy fans of Dragon's Dogma somewhat, so I don't see a reason for DD2 to be exclusive. Resident Evil is too big to ignore XB1, very western appealing game as well as Japanese, so I doubt Sony is willing to recoup the loss of sales for the franchise. They seem to mostly be doing co-developed deals so far, and if that's the case, I think it will be a smaller franchise, or if Capcom works with Sony on rebuilding DMC since a large portion of the series fans owns PS platforms. anyway, my list is for a smaller title from Capcom's back log.

Power Stone co-developed with Sony
Maximo co-developed with Sony
Rival Schools 3 exclusive

Devil May Cry 5 if Sony approached Capcom with a solid plan/marketing scheme.

Platinumgames works with Capcom on Devil May Cry 5

Real talk - as much of a Platinum fanboy as I am I'd rather see Itsuno's Capcom team handle DMC5 over Platinum. I prefer Itsuno's DMC over Kamiya's DMC
and Bayonetta
.

Platinum needs to stay free to make Metal Gear Rising 2 anyway.

I think you're forgetting the damage that DMC did to the franchise. If that didn't exist, I'd agree with you, the sky would be the limit. But they need to make people forget that the DMC ever existed, and that means making people remember that the DMC franchise was good before that game. I know we all the next iteration in the series to aim for the heavens, but I don't think Capcom is in that position right now.
