Capcom's Hiroyuki Kobayashi : "Unexpected" game announcement "soon"

Most of the DMC3/DMC4 crew is still at Capcom. They made Dragon's Dogma.

Yep. The problem is Capcom itself, they should give Itsuno and his team the freedom and the time they need just like Nintendo did during Bayo2 development, DMC4 felt incomplete because of the lack of both of them.

The problem with Capcom has never been that they didn't have the talent, their problem was always that their big wigs desperately wanted to turn Capcom into EA-Japan.

Itsuno was able to make a game like Dragon's Dogma. He has freedom.

what the fuck

itsuno's dream game was dragma and he had like a million unimplemented ideas apparently

if this is truly happening, please Capcom, keep Ninja Theory the hell away from it!

I don't think they would even have the time to work on it since they're doing that Hellblade game right now, unless they have enough people to do two games at one time. (Is Ninja Theory big enough to do that though?)

Of course they can. Capcom still has a considerable amount of talent, they just have dickwads at the helm

Agreeing is the last thing i can do to these posts. I wonder if Capcom can read that and actually do something sensible for once.

Like, some other dimension's hell away from it, not even our hell, it's too close.

Sadly Hellblade (which i like so far actually) is made by a very small team. They are capable of doing a big project atm, and that scares me.

I was trying to keep my expectations down and assume it's not happening but now I'm freaking out over here. And after I said I wouldn't get too hyped again.

It's probably still nothing though.

And sadly, Inafune, himself, was perhaps one of the biggest proponents of that problem during his last few years at the company, with his various "Westernization"-related pursuits.

First comment to the article:

As long as Dante, Trish & Lady stay badass, I got no issues

Yeah...

I could give a shit about the aesthetics of Dante. Just give us that amazing gameplay the series is known for.

They may be better served incorporating the older designs as the game attached to the newer designs was poorly received.

Ah yes, the day I forever lost faith in Inafune
Yeah... I can't say I really like Inafune so much. Doesn't really help that he spearheads Megaman Legends 3 and Universe than leaves the company after they're announced, effectively killing them because none of the other executives care to put in the time or money on them.

Plus Mighty No. 9 being a franchise and the game isn't even out yet.

Inafune is a business man, remember. He'll say whatever is necessary.

Don't forget the infamous "Devil May Cry 5 will be custom-tailored to what the fans want".

Like fuck you Inafune. Where is my 3d metroidvania DMC with godlike enemy design and boss design, Dante journeying through Hell, fighting every major Judeo-Christian mythological demon ending with a final GOAT boss battle against Satan, swappable styles with style switching, co-op, PvP, boss rush, training mode with combat tutorial, DT with every feature imaginable, all improvements to combat and game design from DMC1 to DMC4 and every improvement under the sun?!

Part of the reason I have faith that DMC5 might be happening is specifically because Inafune and his westernization hard-on is no longer part of Capcom. I honestly believe he was a huge part of the problem over there.

DMC5 first, then DD2. After that, Dino Crisis 4 by Shu Takumi, Capcom All-Stars by Niitsuma, and Onimusha reboot by Ninja Theory.

I'm surprised Microsoft and Sony aren't helping fund more of these dead franchises that are fan favorites. Getting DMC5 exclusive would surely sell a lot of systems (same for say NG4, Shemnue sequel, etc)..

I must be one of the only people on this forum that doesn't like DMC. I really hope that's not the game. That being said, if it is I will be happy for all of you that do want it.

Agreed. The fact that a gritty Megaman X FPS with much more "western" designs was almost a thing, to me, showcased just how much of a disconnect there was within Inafking from what fans wanted. It was the one instance of a "Megaman game cancellation" that actually made me breathe a sigh of relief! :lol

To me, the main difference between the likes of Capcom from Bamco is that the latter righted their ship much sooner after they realized that going for broke with Westernization was a dead-end, in the middle of last generation, and have been doing fine ever since. I can only hope Capcom has been busy setting themselves up to do similar on their end. Better late than never, I suppose...

From reading their financial reports it would seem corporate planned to have Capcom ride S.S. Mobile into the sunset and right off a cliff. If they've turned around, I'd be surprised.

Ah, there it is. It's been so long he's been involved in anything non-visual novel that I forgot.

Yeah, it's easy to forget. Dude's got talent, though. It's like Itsuno doing Star Gladiator, Rival Schools 1&2, Power Stone1&2, CvS2, One Piece Mansion, and Auto Modellista before working on Devil May Cry. Both have excellent pedigrees.

Working on the assumption that either one is the PS4 exclusive that Capcom have yet announced, which would you want rather it be?

Personally I think DMC is way too big to be an exclusive, but something like Dragon's Dogma is still new so the cut wouldn't be as deep... Plus it could sure use the funds.

I think it's more likely for Sony to buy the next DMC title in order to combat Bayonetta 2 and Scalebound.
