Captain Avengers: Civil War starts shooting - Cast and synopsis confirmed

Only in Comic book land would this ever be considered a bad thing.

That was the biggest issue with Civil War. Iron Man was right but of course Cap has to look like the good guy so they came up with all this ridiculous mustache, twirling villain shit for Tony to do so that he being right didn't matter as much as what an asshole he was being did.

Because what happens when the government starts ordering the government run Avengers to fight in a war with another country, rather then defend from super threats?

There are some reasons within the actual comic storyline of why that's a bad thing. It's about the particular form the system takes on.

Just two problems off the top of my head: 1) the problem of being government employees and this forced to potentially conduct wars for them. 2) The surrendering of their secret identity to the government which could be used to hurt them or blackmail them.

Hoping they cut out the damn comedy in this. Civil War needs to be a serious one!

There will still be some quips here and there but even with their comedy background The Russo's don't seem to do as many in-battle one-liners as Whedon does. Stark is still in this though, as are Hawkeye and Widow. Spidey is known for quips as well in the comics. So I wouldn't expect it to be devoid of that stuff entirely.

He will be either way.

I don't think it'll matter. However they contrive it he'll be back. Either way Infinity War part 2 will be the last movie for the actor.

I don't doubt that. I anticipate that Infinity War Part II will be when many of the actors will bail. That's inevitable, obviously. But as far the overall story goes,
I feel that it's important for Cap to be there during the last two Avengers movies, as he's been a strong cornerstone for the MCU.

SOME being the keyword here. I just don't want a repeat of Iron Man 3 or GotG's tone, if you know what I mean.

Guardian's tone was perfect for that movie. I wouldn't want a Guardians movie that has Winter Soldier tone in the same way I don't want a Cap movie to have a Guardians tone.

I do, but neither of the Captain America movies have had a tone similar to Iron Man or Guardians.

I've never heard of that EK Ross guy. Is he related to Thunderbolt Ross?

Not in the comics. He's a diplomat who is assigned to escort Black Panther when he arrives to the US.

Iron Man may have been "right" at a theoretical level, but the problem in the story was always a question of him going about solving the issue in the right way.

Yup. Watching Avengers 2 recently put me off of that bigtime. A quip after every scene. Got old and tiresome. One thing I liked about Winter Soldier was that they didn't have that stuff in there.

It's intentional. Thor is off finding a director for Thor: Ragnarok

Hulk also wasn't around in the comics for it, but he's not off Planet Hulk-ing in the MCU. He's just not there.

Kind of an AoU spoiler for people who haven't seen the movie with the lack of
Quicksilver.
No, it's not. Hawkeye's absence from Winter Soldier even though Widow was in the movie didn't lead people to assume that he died in Avengers; a character not being included doesn't spoil anything.

can we please have a costume for Crossbones this time? its not like its a hard to do costume, or even that it would look out of place... its just some crossed bones on the chest and a skull mask >_>

He was horribly disfigured in Winter Soldier, he's gotta get a costume now

There's a bunch of actual comics spoilers mixed in with goofy movie speculation, all of it hidden behind black bars. People are likely going to accidentally click on one thinking it's the other and someone's gonna get pissed.

Spoilering speculation is one of the weirder habits I've seen here. It's speculation. It's the opposite of a spoiler. It's based entirely on the fact that you don't know what's happening.
It doesn't make any sense. I don't think people know what spoilers are supposed to be.

He ended the last film in intensive care, burnt from head to toe, so it's almost certain he'll be in a full body costume.

Oh it's in there. Just not as much. Widow has some stuff as well as Falcon. Fury here and there as well.

The one thing I'm worried about is that people won't understand the connection. Specifically that he's a returning character from TWS.

It was the guy that Falcon fought before the building collapsed, right?

Why not use hulk attacking the city and tony creating Ultron as the reasons for the government to regulate superheros. No need to waste time setting up a new incident

Yeah, that's him.

I think people will remember. The actor has a very distinctive look, and they can throw in a line that serves to help remind people as well. "You had my back all that time," etc etc.

YUp. He even give Cap a run for a moment.

Speculation/Rumours suggest:

The coolest costume news is for Crossbones. Many of us are dying to see ol' Brock Rumlow in his trademark get-up and that will indeed happen. He's described as "messier" and the skull imagery on the suit is described as "graffiti-esque." And yes, he does indeed wear the skull mask that covers his entire face, which is said to be a hybrid mask/helmet. Think Army of Two.

I feel like it'd be daft if they didn't even acknowledge this. Felt glossed over at the end of AOU.

I haven't read Civil War in a while, but I don't think that registering with the Government meant that super heroes had to be the Government's muscle, it just meant that they had to give up their secret identities to the Government so that if they DID do something out of line, they could be held accountable for it.

I want cap 3. Not avengers 2.5. I want cap, falcon going after Bucky. Fighting red skull or Zemo. Give me a focused brubaker influenced story that continues from the winter soldier.

Instead they'll wedge these plot threads, short change them and go into hero FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT mode.

If Kevin Feige tries to neuter the Russos in the editing room I'm going to be pissed. This movie needs to be 150mins at bare minimum

That was the length Whedon wanted, to be shorter than the first film. He said he would probably add about two minutes back into the film, but that's all.
