Animation looks cool, but the film itself looks boring. Gimme THE INVINCIBLES vs GALACTUS!

Saw it last night, and well, it wasn't very interesting. I'm not a fan of the designs at all. How utterly generic. I can't muster up any excitement for it at this point. Hopefully this lame teaser isnt indicative of the final product. The boring racing stuff is just animated NASCAR.

SWEDISH PERFECTION
Didn't look too exciting to me. But it's far off, so I guess there are more things to reveal before it's finished. Like a story, for example.

And that red sports car sounded like Owen Wilson.

I put it up there with the Bug's Life teaser (the first actual teaser that played I beleive with Toy Story, though it could have been later).

Bug's Life teaser was kind of boring, didn't make a whole lot of sense, and was just kind of meh..

The one redeeming hope that I will give cars though (aside from being pixar so even if it does suck by pixar standards it will still be better than 99.9% of what's out there) is that john lassetter is doing it, and I'm convinced that he is the modern day Walt Disney (the man, not the company).

Hang out with Steve.
This is the first Pixar movie I have absolutely no desire to see.

That said, I'll still see it opening day -- I'm just not enthralled by it.

Every Pixar teaser since Monsters Inc. has made the movie look dumb/dull/uninteresting to me. Yet, the final movie always ends up being much much better than I imagined so I've pretty much stopped trying to judge based on these teasers anymore.

What I do know is that this is being directed by Lasseter himself, that he's a HUGE car buff (as big as he is with toys). So, I have faith.

BTW, did you guys notice that the crowds at the stadium are cars also? Maybe this is a world with only cars (no people).

I saw The Incredibles last night and was distinctly unimpressed with the Cars trailer. However, as far as I'm concerned, Pixar has a perfect record, so I'm sure the final product will be just dandy. That trailer however...eh.

The Incredibles, by the way, was freakin' awesome.

Looks like Disney got the shit end of the stick for Pixar's last movie deliverable becasue that movie looks incredibily uninteresting and I'm really not even sure how it will get better. This one looks to be the worse Pixar movie ever.... yes, worse than Bugs Life :)

The only one of Pixar's teasers that was genuinely interesting was The Incredibles. Finding Nemo's totally sucked.

Yet, all their movies rock.

I doubt the movie will revolve around NASCAR-type racing.

yeah, well the incredibles looked like a completely unoriginal rehash when I saw the teaser as well. Then I got a load of the japanese trailer and my mind turned a 180 on it.

I expect the same from Cars in a couple of years. That animation is ridiculously good, I'm already guaranteed to watch anything with Owen Wilson in it and if Days of Thunder is any indication not only will everyone see this movie it could be pretty intense.

"I doubt the movie will revolve around NASCAR-type racing."

pun intended?

Looks great. Glad we have The Incredibles, the DVD release, and the Shrek 2 DVD release to tide us over until then. :p

My guess is that a Nascar racecar (Owen Wilson) gets off the racing circuit and discover what it really means to be a car and to age etc etc from old trucks.

hopefully there'll be a rescue of some other car involved which will provide the motivation to embark on a life risking and life changing journey.

I don't think you're that far off the mark...

Here's the story info from USA Today:
The movie centers on speed-obsessed race car Lightning McQueen (Owen Wilson), who gets lost on his way to the track. He lands in Radiator Springs, a downtrodden town off fabled Route 66 that has been bypassed by the interstate. There, he learns about what really matters from the cars of the 1950s and '60s.

The way the cars are personified really bug me. I can't get over that. It reminds me of watching VeggieTales with my little second cousin. And a really lame CGI body shop ad I see on TV with similar eyes/mouth placement and animation.

oh! My psychic Powers are kicking in the next 2 movie that aren't shrek by PDI/Dreamworks will be about Urban Superheroes and Lowriders

sad but true.. whats really sad is that there movies are generally really generic and their stories serve as nothing more than a way to jump from stupid pop culture reference to pop culture reference... its like an overbudgeted episode of family guy minus the funny.

Cars is obviously a post-modern take on America's fascination with cars, to the point where people... wished they were cars... I guess.

Hey, I thought The Incredibles wasn't going to work.

Expect lots of car-related jokes though... lots of highway driving while talking (as seen in the trailer), taking naps in parking lots and modelling at car shows and car dealerships, a joke about SUVs being fat, young cars wanting to modify themselves with neon lights and speaker amps, and the like. It has potential if the message is chosen well and is absurd.

NASCAR was a bad idea -- zero drama potential. Formula 1 would have been better. It's not too late to scrub the whole race scene!!

Looks pretty bad, don't like the way the cars look (specifically the eye style and placement), but PIXAR has never steered me wrong.

Granted, I said the same thing about M Night Shyamalon going into The Village...

Same here. I thought Finding Nemo was going to be dumb when I first saw it. I was wrong.

Finally bought a new PSP, but then pushed the demon onto someone else. Jesus.
I thought Nemo would suck, but I love that movie. Pixar can do no wrong (and yes, I would've said that prior to seeing the Incredibles).

Nascar. NASCAR! DUURUUURRRRRRRRRR!!! NASCAR!!!!!

Talkin' 'bout dang ol' nascar man. Deff Gordon. DyEEEEEEFF GORDON! Gonn' ask me who the greatest aflete in the world is? I'ma teeeeeell you it's Deff Gordon.

NATHCAR!!!!! NATHCARRR!!!!!

At the mall the other day, there was this big fat lady walking by in a pair of sweatpants. After she walked by, my friend started laughing his ass off. I figured maybe she tripped or something so I turned around and then I saw it: On the ass of her size XXL sweatpants, "NAS" on the left cheek and "CAR" on the right cheek. Class.

Finally someone else understands why Dreamworks piss me off. They're like the EA of the CG movie world.

I don't know why it would ask that. I don't have anything iTunes related and can watch it just fine.
