Stick to one then if I couldn't "progress", I tried to merge the tower and by trying not to make the blocks fall (by pulling/pushing the edge holding blocks).
In solo, I usually stuck to one side until it looked like I'd have trouble continuing, then I'd build a path over to the other side. I never actually beat it, but I got the end with the bell toll four or five times doing that.
I can't remember what I did in pairs, probably the same thing.
I only have one problem with the game. During the final stage of the night you just don't get enough time to think about the moves you can make. So I've been kind of abusing the home menu to pause the game and think about what to do next.
I like the True Lover ending more since I'm a sucker for that kind of stuff, and it feels like the most fitting end for the game, but True Cheater still needs to be seen by everyone who has played this game. So good.

Yeah the first ending i got was the True Lover ending and thought it was really awesome, but then i got the True Cheater ending and i was like... WOW! Go Vincent!
It's not about messing up. It's just that I can't think of a solution on the fly and the trial and error approach wasn't helping me either because I wasted like 5 or 6 retries on that one specific section.
Anyways it's not a big deal. But it's one of the things that kind of makes this game harder than it needs to be.
Edit: Not to be a hater or anything. Because for now this is like my favorite puzzle game ever. Even better than Portal 1/2 or Toki Tori or whatever other games that get mentioned in the steam thread.
This game is beatable with persistence, but perhaps the following would've helped:
- A Super Guide, inspired by Nintendo's recent efforts. Fail a level 10 times, and the game offers you a hint. The hint could be a video clip of how to negotiate the part of the stage where you appear to be stuck. For example, if you keep reaching the midpoint and can't get higher, the game could give you the option to see what needs to be done.
- The ability to rewatch the techniques Vincent and the other lambs teach each other on the landings. That way you could review such techniques as the pyramid, spider, etc.
- Present four difficulty levels: Make Very Easy the Easy option; Easy, the Normal option; Normal, the Hard option; and Hard, a new "Legend" option.
A giant big fuck you to the ice blocks, and the boss randomly removing blocks and that stupid special attack. And why the hell is it still giving me bronze? I am pretty sure I am getting gold on the previous levels.
I am close to finishing on Normal (All Gold so far except for one Silver that I plan on redoing), but I'm wondering about something. What is the nature of the nightmare skip feature?
When you are presented with the option to skip a nightmare stage, do you just skip each segment and then go to the landing? Or does it skip the entire nightmare time block and you go instantly to the bar?
I'm curious because I think I screwed up some of the conversation trees with the bar patrons and
their sheep iterations in the dream world
and thus won't be able to see those plot threads to their proper conclusion. When/if I replay to get other endings/do this, will I miss the landing conversations if I skip or will I be forced to redo some of the stages I wasn't a big fan of to complete these parts?

Finished the game with the True Freedom ending. Really enjoyed it and I can't wait for a Persona game using this engine. I also much preferred the in-engine cut scenes compared to the Studio 4G ones.
Does resetting from a checkpoint hinder your chances of a high score because it resets the step combo multiplier?
Also, cool thing I noticed about the design of the final boss creature:
If you angle the camera sideways and down, you can see a stream of sheep-men being sucked up from the abyss below and fusing into Dumuzid's beard/growth
. As Strong Bad would say, "Oh man. So cool."
Also random: I love love love the cutscene where
Vincent and Orlando are on the shitter and Vincent's freaking out over Catherine's info being gone on his phone
. So many subtle nuances, pitch-perfect pacing, spot-on writing and a great blend of horror and humor in that scene.
Btw, does anyone know where I can obtain a copy of the song that plays in the Altar stage of Babel? It's not on the OST or the Love Attract disks. :-\
Thank you -- I searched it and found it on YouTube HERE. And if you use this site, you can convert the YouTube link to a high-quality MP3. Now it's added to my OST playlist.
I started 2nd playthru yesterday morning but only played til I could make my 1st save.
today I've played all the way up til 7-5!!!
I keep telling myself this stage will be my last, but I jus keep going for the golds one after another!!!
a few things:
one, game is freakin waaaay more easier on 2nd playthru!! I've had no problem turning all my old Bronze & Silvers into Golds, and I've even gotten way farther in Rapunzel!!! SKILLZ!!
two, Undo is the most broken move ever!! lol. It resets your freakin Combo Meter so can always keep it up!! I want to feel bad for using it, but it's so easy to do I cant help it =P
When the trailers came out and I saw how great the in-engine graphics looked, I wondered why they even bothered doing Studio 4C for the cutscenes, but then I realized that they used them very specifically for when
some intense acting was needed
some intense action was needed
there was a new location that would have had to been modeled if it was done in-engine
there was a new character that would have had to been modeled if it was done in-engine
If you think that other than the nightmare stages, there is only ONE explorable area in the game, Atlus lives up to their reputation getting a lot out of very little without the game feeling bare bones.
^^^ There are also the landings, for that's worth, and the stalls at Vincent's workplace, the restaurant where he and Katherine go, the Kappa Cafe and Vincent's apartment are all fully modeled (though you can't explore the latter four).
I think the blend of anime and in-game just adds to this game's style. There's been a massive style deficiency this generation, and this game almost single-handedly makes up for it. An amazing addition to my PS3 library.

Just started a few days ago. I rarely buy games for more than $20 these days, so it's a big deal that I got this for $60. Gotta support the Persona team though.
So I'm playing on normal and I'm not very good at puzzles but about 7 hours in and I'm already on night 6. I was starting to get the feeling that while this is a really cool game, I'm not really going to get my money's worth. Then I hit 6-3 and spent 10 hours on it. Yes 10 hours. Hooray.
There may be room to think the dream WAS real, or at least, that Katherine was really in it, only she can't remember afterward, just like all the other dreamers (at first). Either way, it's a very meaningful scene in that it's the point at which Vincent realizes how deeply he loves Katherine
.
Of course, I got the True Katherine ending, so I wonder how all those earlier scenes chain together with some of the other endings. I suppose he could
In Persona or a standard JRPG, when faced with the devil or the god/mastermind, the MC would go: "Your evil ends here! It's time to be defeated!" yet in Catherine, Vincent is okay with other people being sentenced to death as long as he and his friends are let go, and goes on to be the friend of the bartender
This is my favorite part of the entire game. Catherine's True Ending is a close second. I thought the game was at its best when it was being completely absurd.
