WTF? At least if you are hired by them, shut up and let them ride the storm out.

Ok, good luck.
She had a cameo in the game, but is not a CDPR employee.

AI interaction (along with the police behaviour) is currently by design. If it were "bugs" we would have seen instances of the AI exhibiting more advanced behaviour than they currently do but we haven't at all. They do the same bone headed stuff every single time.

They will need to overhaul the NPC AI completely between now and February if it is to change. Without a doubt it's the most undercooked aspect of the game and was most likely neglected during development as they realised they were running out of time.

Like you said, it’s the game design and that is the most concerning part, they would have to start from pretty much zero, therefor it ain’t gonna happen... unfortunately

basically, the game is primarily made for PC and consoles are not that important to them.

these 2 major patches are just really to try shut up the whining console owners who, let's be honest, will never be happy now. either take these patches and play the game (which is actually fantastic btw) or get a refund, shut up, and go play something else.

absolutely NO WAY should they cut the price. don't buy the game. imo, they should be charging more for what the game offers.

do what they can with AI on last gen consoles and improve them for PS5/XSX/PC.

you can't own a 7 year old piece of hardware and expect it to perform miracles.

Stop defending this shit. Look at the state of the AI (NPC's, Police, traffic). It is honestly pathetic, GTA3, any other ubisoft game has better AI and that is saying something. You can blame the last gen consoles for graphics (lower res assets were to be expected) I've had a PS5 from launch day and the only crash I have had is with this game, multiple times.

If people are saying "they're a PC developer" then fair enough, leave the console market. Charging more money, gtfo here.

It's still a good game but 7 years dev time is laughable compared to the polish of some other titles in development for that long.

Cyberpunk looks & runs worse (with worse AI) than pretty much all major open world titles on the ps4. So either every other game does perform "miracles" (Red Dead 2, Sleeping Dogs, GTA 5, Horizon Zero Dawn, Far Cry 5, Assassin's Creed Origins etc. etc.) because "how else" could they run on the ps4... or it's CDPR who've royally screwed-up.

For Christ's sake it's not the ps4 which is the problem, it's the terrible port of Cyberpunk which is at fault.

The world is a lot more dense and has a lot more verticality than your standard open world game.

This is almost like if you took mirrors edge and then allowed you to also roam populated streets.

Go up in an elevator somewhere and then find some ledges to run along and you will see what I mean.

Honestly I was never planning on buying this for last-gen. Even when I didn't have a PS5 yet and my delivery was planned for 2021 anyway. I understand that lots of gamers couldn't wait, and that the game would at worst a Witcher 3 on consoles experience. Cyberpunk ended up being much worse than that and thats unfortunate. But I won't jump in until the game sees a next-gen upgrade and is good to begin with. Right now I feel the game isn't even that good, so who knows I might never get it.

  • 21 or so minutes in, the CEO says they plan to let the Cyberpunk team rest "until February". (good, the actual developers deserve a ton of rest after what their management team has done)
Until February 😂 I'm going to go ahead and say they need to sort this mess out asap

CDPR knew it was going to suck on current gen there's just no doubt about that... How much damage will this do to their reputation, time will tell.

Cyberpunk 2077 is a next gen title, on current gen hardware. 🤦‍♂️

Fuck investors. They are garbage level people.

Other thsn that nornal problems like every other company.

Idiots in managment vs. Developers

I can recommend some great AAA titles from the investor-less countries of Cuba and North Korea, if you want.

The issue with the "investors" in this instance is the pressure they applied to get the game released in order to maximize profits on all systems (including last gen, before the ps5 & Series S/X send them into retirement next year).

I've read this claim a number of times now.

Where is the evidence for that? Where is the evidence the decision wasn't entirely the board's but that somehow they caved in to investor pressure? Or do you mean the board is there to please shareholders no matter what?

If investors don't care about the quality of the product (or at least, care far more about their own short-term money than the image of the company they've invested in), then there's a serious problem. I refuse to believe CDPR were happy with the fact their game looks & runs worse on base consoles than most other titles on those systems, so the pressure to release was purely financial in nature.

It does depend what we're talking here. If they were running out of money, and 300 million in development costs sure is a lot of money, then Badowski's statement that , quote, "It’s also in direct opposition to what I personally grew to believe a while back — that crunch should never be the answer. But we’ve extended all other possible means of navigating the situation." (source) acquires a new meaning. To me, the bolded reeks of desperation. They possibly needed the cashflow badly.

But this is one for the books, i.e. an epic failure of everyone involved. Clearly those investors were sold a "vision" by CDPR which they couldn't meet themselves, so there's blame all around.

Ultimately, it's a failure of the leadership

WTF?

Ok, good luck.

How quickly the mood swings.

If I remember correctly, she said she wouldn't review the game because she couldn't be impartial, seeing as, among other things, she had a cameo, was involved in the promotion, got a chair, etc.

Precious takeaway: CDPR, do not enlist the help of influencers.

They should have just released it as pc only then consoles later.. pc sales alone would have broke them even most likely.

Yeah this should've been canned for current-gen (or last-gen if you will). Especially when it was clear it wouldn't be out before 2020. Focus could've been PC, and then PS5/SX. Game has potential to sell throughout a generation like TW3 does.

Get a decent PC or a next-gen console, if you want to play a next-gen game on a last-gen console you're asking for it to run like crap, there's no way around it. People are just entitled lately, the bugs maybe are inexcusable but performance and visuals? I still remember buying Half-Life 2 on a regular XBOX, it played like crap but all that mattered to me was finally playing the game, not sure why people expect miracles.

This is true. As I posted before I expected an initial TW3 performance. That is a low framerate, long load times, pop in.. the whole deal. Which is why I never planned to buy Cyberpunk for PS4 Pro. I've always seen it as a release that would be a better fit for the new systems.

HL2 though was the other way around, it came to PC first. And no one really expected it to run on console. I tried the Xbox version for kicks and since I was used to the PC version on a Radeon Pro I thought it was shit but at the same time impressive that the poor system could even run it. And the whole game was there, it was playable. Doom 3 port was more impressive though.

Yeah, major misfire here. I don't really use YouTube at all besides as a place to look up obscure music so I am not aware of who is influential but the idea of sending merch to twentysomethings with huge followings over which you have no editorial oversight just seems to me like a poor use of marketing resources. Better to roll out the red carpet to the legacy publications.

Man, what happened to gaming. Shit releasing unfinished and people pay for it. Same with Star Citizen, Baldur's Gate III and Mount & Blade II.... this early access/release early, patch later shit needs to go away.

why? its their money. Would you say the same if you invested alot of money in something and the company is losing it all?

Exactly, this isn't on the investors, it's on the company that over promised and under delivered. they had like 8 years with this game. if you were an investor you'd be saying get it out already too. The company exec team are the responsible party here.

Thinks buying more servers can fix a bad patch
This is what I speculated in another thread previously.

Its most likely they didn't give the console review codes because they were still optimizing the console versions up till launch date. They just pushed out whatever they have for the console platforms at that point

The latest delay back then was due to the consoles needing more time, they already finished the PC version. Should have release the PC version first, then continue on the console version and release it next year or something

That they didn’t hand out review code for console versions was more due to them still working on optimizing the console versions and less towards concealing the bad performance on consoles

I don't think you know any investors or even what an investor does. Your original post strongly indicates a complete lack of idea of what an investor is, why there are investors and what they do.

I lost my last job due to mismanagnent of our last investor.

- he was CEO but kept programming in his small apartment and his company turned into chaos
- he literally postponed our development for 2 years until covid hit
- he decided that some customers that wanted to pay a lot money are too risky
- he blocked all possibilities to survive covid
- he blamed all partners ( even those who earned him money) after everything went downhill
- He literally never listened ro people that wanted to help him but turned to people who just took advantage of his money
- he froze his most valuable and important asset (our company) and wants to take another look at it sometime after covid 19 but competition got now a 1.1 million invest and more are on the rise
- at the moment nobody knows what he is up too and his third company is literally in chaos too i heard

I know some more bad investor stories but this is the one that affected me personally

Did you just compare a game sold in Early Access mode and the dev team declaring it'll be an unfinished broken mess with a supposedly finished and polished game which was delayed again and again in order to 'meet the high standards gamers deserve'?
Yes, because my point is that games should not release in any early state, including early access (which is just a way of making people pay for alpha/beta testing). That was my criticisim. Cyberpunk is basically early access as well but CDPR released it as the full game. Doesn't make a difference, though. Both games are apparently not finished and need more time in the oven.

You worked for some loser that ran his company from his home, programming, instead of being at the office and managing the employees? Because it sounds like he really would need to spend some more time at the office and keep his employees from failing.
You disagree with some of the owners business decisions? Well he onwed the company and you did not. Accept that or resign and dont complain on an internet board like a bitch.
I don't believe it.

Why did you stay that long then? Why not go somewhere else that was not doomed?
Sounds made up.

If you are so much better making business decisions, maybe grab the opportunity and start a new company and compete with him and win? So far you only sound like sour grapes because you failed.

You think she's getting royalties for a guest appearance as a minor NPC? They're trading publicity for publicity here. I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't get paid at all.

No way would you not agree some form of compensation for doing something like that. If she didn't she's an idiot and to be honest I don't think she's as stupid as she likes to make out to her audience.

In-house QA, you don't say. Same with Witcher 3 I presume......These guys need to spend some money to assure game quality especially after consoles made them make bank with Witcher 3......You could clearly see that their games have very poor QA, even the PC version which is their bread and butter is very unoptimized, filled with bugs and crashes........Poor Ryzen utilization, no DXR support on AMD hardware, when they had a statement saying they have no dedication to NV RT.......These guys seem to be twisting the truth quite a bit from what they show/say to what they deliver....

Who's to blame here? The gamer for pushing for a release, or CDPR for falling prey to the demand?
Gamer's did not push for a release.....This game has been in dev for 7 years, announced for last gen consoles.....The last gen generation is done, the new generation is here and the game is not ready for both last gen consoles and current gen consoles. Think about this for a minute.....The game is not even ready for PC, where a 3090 struggles to run this at a stable 60fps at 4K without DLSS, where the Ryzen CPU is not properly supported and there is no RT on AMD GPU's.....Things redditors and modders discovered in mere hours of owning the game, buggy A.i, low interactivity, low physics, bad side missions.....So what were they doing for 7 years exactly, after several delays and yet this is the state of the game? No one is to blame here but CDPR, because they spoke a very assured and reassuring game prior to release too, they said everything was fine across all platforms. The lie detector proved, what we all know...

The media oversold what they saw behind closed doors, CDPR preyed on this hype, but it has now backfired. I can see people retiring after this.....This is not the first time this company have released a game in a woeful state at launch, but it may be the last time it happens if they want to stay and be profitable in this industry.......Even Bethesda's back broke with Fallout 76, gamers and reviewers will only take such awful and buggy releases for a time. I think the gaming community will be less tolerant to such releases going forward.... ...I mean 7 years.......
WTF?

Ok, good luck.
Alanah Works for Sony. I think this is the lowest score from IGN in a hot minute. She has done her job for them, she is allowed to have a reaction on what's happening with console reviews......Though I do wonder, if gamers did not protest this and make so much noise, would IGN really give this score. They may not be doing it because their review system dictates it, but because they want gamers to trust them again.....The game even on PC is a bug fest, unoptimized, lacks interactivity, low A.I and physics, they pointed out many technical issues in their review, minus the in-game ones like A.i, lack of interactivity etc, but still gave it a 9......Either way IGN cannot be trusted for consistency.....

so they want to "gain the trust back because they know they lost it", which sure sounds like is all about their values and not just trying to find a way avoid hundreds of thousands refund requests from ps4/xbone buyers. "after 3 delays we as the management board were too focused on releasing the game" wow I wonder why.

They didn't specify. I would say before March. But anything is possible. Lot of people there have to take some time off after all that crunch. Don't know what teams are working on the next gen updates and when they actually started working on it.

Several investors seem to be very concerned about the game being refunded. One asked how the refund process works through Microsoft and Sony and if the investor will still keep his cut. (this person seems to have no regard for customer satisfaction and is only focused on keeping his cut of the money, even after a customer refunds the game.)

if i was promised a good investment i would also only worry about my money tbh.

The limited QA thing is reprehensible, frankly the only justification is cost cutting.

Just for that they deserve everything they get.

CDPR is not in a good position right now but I have to wonder, who decided or who "forced" them to develop/launch such an ambitious project for last-gen consoles? Was the MS/Sony cash that big that they couldn't ignore? I know they "had" to but they really shouldnt have. They could've gone down in history as the first next gen only game, no bugs, no crunch, etc. I guess in the end, money does corrupt everyone. Ironic that CP2077 is such an anti-corpo game and yet they are doing exactly what any corporation in CP did.

Nobody forced them. This game was announced 8 years ago for those consoles. It was shown and advertised by CDPR for those consoles. The original release date before the delays was April this year, before the release of PS5 and Xbox One. I think after the release and subsequent success and acclaim that went Witcher IIIs way they always planned it, and then its obvious that at some point that plan shifted and they just gave up on it.

the first official launch date they announced was april this year, when PS4 and XBox One S where the default consoles most people bought.
They say that 40% of the pre orders were for consoles. Since there were no next gen consoles in April, they would have lost 40% of their sales. Why doing that? You do not want to give up 40% of you sales, that would be stupid.

I assume they expected to get a "good enough" version out there and saw the amount of problems way too late in the project. And it is not like it was clear from the beginning that the game will suck on current gen. The PS4 seem to be in the 25+ fps range for like 95% of the time and for surprising long time even over 30, so getting it to quite stable 30fps is not unreasonable.
You see a lot of bugs but these bugs are not because they are on current gen consoles, they are here because of not enough testing...

I don't have the game at the moment, but I expect it to be pretty good after some patches and the next gen versions to be pretty impressive.

If you ever need to convince an idiot who supports the 'last gen holding back next gen is a lie' meme, this is the game to show.

Thank you, CD Project. Thank you for making our point.

Who supports such a bizarre meme and how could this demonstrate it if the PC version is good and the last gen version is trash? It is more like next gen is holding the last gen back by being too powerful to easily downport from. Or are you just talking about the time they wasted trying to make this shit run on last gen instead of developing the next gen version despite the fact that this was originally planned to launch months before next gen systems dropped?

Highlights for me:

  • 1) They didn't officially QA test the game at all.
  • 2) They are still lying about the patches coming for the base console versions.
  • 3) They announced patch "roadmaps" concluding in February, and most of the staff is off until February.

No one should ever trust these guys again. The common meme insult about day one buyers being beta testers is literally true. That's actually their policy.

I get your argument but I still don't think that early access is okay either because it's basically letting people pay for alpha/beta testing. It's basically the same risk as buying a "released" game that needed more time, like Cyberpunk because we don't know whether the stuff that is to be added later for Baldur's Gate III or Mount & Blade II or any other early access game is good or not. What if Larian completely shit the bed with their later chapters/design decisions? It's basically the same "gamble" as buying Cyberpunk right now only that the moniker of "early access" allows for delaying the actual result of the gamble.

My whole point of criticism is that the culture of "release early, patch later" is something that shouldn't be supported. Now obviously, CDPR had 8 years to develop the game but as a customer that's not my problem if their internal project management was/is fucked up.

They grinded there employee's to dust and scammed a large part of there user base for maximum profits.

They just assumed that Sony and MS will make an exception for them and their broken game in their "apology" tweet. This gets even better day by day...

Seems like they didn't even negotiate with Sony/MS before.

So what I guessed is true.

- Rushed launch.
- Little to no real QA (in software development when the own dev do the QA is not considered reliable because the dev is already biased to test the things how he developed to works... it needs people not part of the dev team to do real unbiased QA like a 3rd-party QA team).

Seems like the game will have a long time to be fixed... that means the next-gen patches and expansions/DLC will come later imo.... maybe even missing 2021 (expansion/DLC case).

Not acknowledging most people doesn’t have a next-gen console and gives a shit to next-gen console is really sad.

And seems like a lot is excuses are lies.
The refund discussion is sad too.
