Scar/clemp, but no OSU/UM smh ttk, smh!

Jeff Long said tonight that the committee factors in if a team was ranked when another team beats/loses too them.

In other words, this system is more fucked then than the BCS

Utah at 7-4 is a puzzling inclusion. It doesn't really matter since they're only #25, but still puzzling.

Ugh, I hate rankings "at the time of the game." Does LSU get slammed for losing to an unranked Miss St team that is now 10-1? Does Miss St get credit for beating a pair of Top 10 teams (LSU and aTm) that are now completely unranked?

So, what did Minnesota do to jump up 8 spots? Only lose by 3?

Sean Alexander was a glorified H-back.

Had to sit and think on that for a minute, it's been nearly a decade since that joke happened.

You're realizing the SECret of gaming the rankings system! Beat a ranked team that turns out to be shit? Still a quality win! Lose to an unranked team that turns out to be good? It ends up being a quality loss!

To be fair, he was clear about the importance of a CCG. BIG XII didn't like that I'm sure.

And I can't believe I paid $50 after fees for a USF game in Tampa. Tickets never dropped in price and if anything increased aftermarket.

I'm glad Utah is still ranked. Makes that loss to them sting a little less.

I probably should wait till after Friday, but if we upset Oregon in the conference championship, UCLA should get the #4 spot.

A little help wouldn't hurt either. Really rooting for the longhorns on Thursday.

It matters because if you are playing a ranked team at home, they will have been favourites, with a lot of momentum and had a reasonable crowd advantage.

Hell, after the first round, a lot of people had aTm in the top 4 after the first week. For MSU to have beaten them, at the time of the game, was a good win despite how aTm have fallen away since.

Why should a Power 4 team lose a spot to Ohio State?
As the poster above you said, conference championships matter. The committee themselves have already said as much. Personally I think if Ohio State runs the table then they're in. OSU jumping Baylor has already set the precedent for this happening.

This is what gives me hope ^_^ I think the committee wants us in. My belief is that if we do our part, they'll give us that extra bump (if teams ahead of us don't fall).

But who knows.

I feel like at this point I'm not upset if we don't make the playoffs, I'll be bummed sure. After Braxton went down I saw a likely 3-4 loss season and tons of growing pains, so this season has been pretty surprising and fun

I thought it was illegal to import foreign animal products into Australia? How did you manage to smuggle in SEC bullshit?

;)

If the committee is truly taking into account rankings at the time the game was played, then pre-season rankings would be a lot more meaningful than we like to pretend.

Mandel had more tweets about it but yeah, anyone who thought they'd start from scratch each week was too hopeful.

Congrats BCS haters, we got something even worse.

Given the fact politic-ing was one of the major gripes about the former system, I'm surprised we went with a committee full of former politicians. Would it be wise for schools on the outside looking in to hire lobbyists to fight for them? Will this committee get a lower approval than congress? After the final playoff selection day, will Obama override the committee's decision and choose 4 teams on his own?

Prepare for corruption and conspiracy sheeple!

I'm Fake Ron Paul and I approve this message.

I think they should just do away with preseason rankings altogether. Shouldn't have a top 25 released until the first week the playoff committee releases their rankings. Maybe the week before so they aren't vastly different.

I had a nightmare the other day that my AD was an incompetent buffoon who constantly puts her foot in her mouth and lacks the guts to fire any coach, period.

Then I woke up, and realized that nightmare was my Waking Life. And no, I'm not referring to the Richard Linklater movie.
