He isn't going anywhere with his medical history.

Maybe not. But I only hear overwhelmingly positive things about him, both football related and not. I'd like to get another recruiting class or two out of him before he decides to promote himself, if that's what he's looking to do...

He's a really good coach, but he also has a really good situation up there, no need to uproot the family one bit.

So, with Gundy, the Kellys, and Bob Stoops reportedly out of the UF coaching selction, I'm thinking more and more that it's going to be Doc Holliday.

He's a great recruiter and he's well known at UF for recruiting and training Reggie Motherfucking Nelson, but I just don't know enough about him. The first three years of his head coaching job seem like kind of a mess, with two losing seasons. The last two are pretty stellar, and he's undefeated this year... with huge offensive stats. He comes from a defensive background though, so I'm not sure if it's just some great OC or something behind it. Any Marshall fans here? Is his play calling boneheaded? Frustrations?

There are worse picks, I guess. Just please don't be Schiano.

Schiano is a good coach, but he's a defensive coach, which isn't what UF wants; remember Saban sucked at Miami as did Spurrier in Washington. ECU's OC Lincoln Riley is going to get a head coaching job soon and he's the one you want.

I think Pris...Monroeski can write a book about him.

They'd sign Chad Morris before Riley though, but I have a feeling that Florida won't go the coordinator route to find their next head coach.

Agreed, just saying I wouldn't go after Holliday, because Riley is the guy you want from ECU. Because, he won't be staying as the OC for long at ECU or UF.

Schiano coached Rutgers before going to the NFL, right? I don't remember Rutgers doing anything particularly interesting while he was there, unless I'm mistaken.

Also, it's more his attitude than anything. He said some weird shit during his tenure at Tampa.

Rutgers was an institution that was destroyed by it's previous coach Terry Shea, and we lacked institutional support.

He built that institutional support and a program up from nowhere to somewhat where, and we have floundered since he has left (to be fair to Flood though, Schiano took every member of his staff to the NFL so he left Flood a bare cupboard).

He's a program builder, but since UF has a program and needs an offensive coach, there's really no chance of him being the coach of Florida.

He was the DC of Miami in 2000-2001, he's a good defensive mind as Rutgers defenses always did well (with some clunkers there), otoh our offense always sucked asides from Ray Rice.

They had that brief year 2006 when them and USF climbed as high as 2 in the rankings.

edit: That was actually 2007 and it was BC not Rutgers who got that high. Rutgers still had some good years around that time though.

The last person from an ECU coaching staff that landed at a program in Florida ended up getting fired like 3 years later and running the program into the ground.

Don't have too much to say about him, really. A lot of people wanted him to stay on as offensive coordinator when Tuberville was hired, as he and Neal Brown were like clones at the time but Riley had history with our school. After he had a few years of success at ECU, a lot of people wanted him hired on as our OC when Kingsbury was hired (some even wanted him in the running for the head coaching job during the early/middle parts of the process, before it ultimately came down to Kingsbury and Chad Morris).

Guys we all know Lane Kiffin is gonna be the next head coach at Florida. There's really no other viable candidate.

Look at his resume

1. Offensive minded (worked as offensive assistant/coordinator)
2. Past head coaching experience in the NFL and College
3. Winning record as a college coach (35-21)
4. Previous experience as a head coach in the SEC
5. Improved the Vols offense by 60% (in terms of yards)
6. Has a non losing record in the SEC (4-4).

How many other candidates have a resume this good?

First tragedy, then farce.
Wow,

The Charlie Strong hire is looking better and better if these are actually Michigan and Florida's targets.

It's too bad Leach hasn't had a break out year at WSU yet. I would have loved to see him and his air raid in Florida against the SEC speed.

Hearing some things ... no new names but ...

John Harbaugh is out;
Jim Harbaugh firmly #1 candidate and anyone who says it's some kind of longshot or pipedream is lying, misinformed, or jealous;
Les Miles won't be overlooked a second time, is the #2 candidate.

Supposedly this is coming from someone close to Hackett. Grain of salt and all that, but yeah.

They're hiring Charlie Weis. Just accept it now.
